U-M announces new Football Ticket Packs...

If you think the 2014 home schedule is bad, take a look at 2016.

"There has never been a better opportunity to see a Michigan football game at Michigan Stadium," said Hunter Lochmann, Chief Marketing Officer for Michigan Athletics. "A smaller returning student ticket number has opened ticket availability and allowed us to create and offer these affordable and fan-friendly ticket offers."

Surprised that there aren't better ticket packs? It's like home mortgage securitization. You can slice crap as thin as you want, it's still crap.

Anyone who buys tickets directly from the university and not off the secondary market for a serious discount this season probably hates money. to each their own.

This past season UCF was easily the second best team in Florida only behind the National Champs. That could be a really tough game.

Baffles me that the AD doesn't see that they are corroding their future customer base when they screw current students over with those prices. They are sacrificing the future for profits now. Perhaps it's worse and they do recognize it yet want to do it anyways.

I think the opposite..the AD knows the future schedule next year is excellent so they are trying to avoid eroding future profits by lowering prices a bunch this year. They are willing to sell reduced amount of student tickets this year so they can avoid having to have a massive rise in the student prices next year. Any reduction in student tickets this year will be offset to a degree by the new group ticket program (not much revenue effect since student prices are discounted anyways). Then next year when schedule is better and hopefully more demand they will still have room for students to get back in. In the end, the product on the field will be the biggest factor if the demand fully returns when schedule is better.

the athletic department has sold tickets under face value (as far as I know). Also the first time some tickets are priced under the season ticket holder price. I'm not really ecstatic about that.

I wish we wouldn't try and wring every last dollar out of fans and alumni.  Make it a deal and pack the Big House!  Make the customer king.

The less money we give to the athletcs department the worse off our football program is. I don't think people understand that when they are blinded by their hate of DB. Would you rather have Dave Brandon go down in flames or do you want a good football team? Also, I'm not really sure what he's squandered it on.

There are 2 factors in play one that will be tempory (but potentially every other year) and one longer term issue.

Temporry is the AWFUL 2014 schedule. You are paying for Penn State. That is it. You will be able to pick up tickets to any of the others games drastically below face value on StubHub.

However, this will pop up every other year. You could always count on either MSU or OSU being the money game. The only fix is if the Big Ten changes that schedule in future years or UofM actually schedules some quality non conference games.

The longer term problem is one that all schools will face. With the rising expense of the games and the comfort of home viewing it is getting harder to justify the expense. I no longer get season tickets (even those that can afford it), but go to 2-3 games a year. Either from friends who aren't using their tickets or StubHub.

Additionally, I go to AA even when I don't go to the games. Tailgating is great and there are always multiple TVs to hang out and watch the game. You can continue to drink your own beverages and eat better food for 1/4 the cost.

I would be thrilled to be watching the 2016 schedule instead of this 2014 shit show we are about to witness. I will take Wisky, I'll, Colo, UCF, and Hawaii any day over this mess.

Being a season ticket holder I am not to thrilled about this.

I could have saved a bunch of money  and just bought a three game pack for $150.
