Does Juwan even make the team plane at the Philly airport
January 7th, 2024 at 2:17 PM ^
Good thing Martelli coached today, he made such a remarkable difference in team performance. Howard either has to go at the end of the season or he gets rid of everyone except for Eisley.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:21 PM ^
I am in the minority and don’t want Juwan fired. But I completely agree he has to make some staff changes. Need to figure out NIL and the portal also. Although the university is not making either of those easy.

I drew my line in the sand as he has until Dug and Reed leave. I did the same exact thing with Harbaugh after 2020. I said the line in the sand is he has to beat OSU before JJ graduates. But man I did not expect them to be this bad year. Of course they weren't going to be a final 4 team. But a "just on the right side of the bubble team" and going like 12-8 in conference play seemed doable.
I've been saying for awhile he needs a staff shakeup. Just like Harbaugh got rid of Drevno, Pep, and Don Brown. Juwan needs a complete staff overhaul. He needs to find a "yaklich type" who is a young brilliant mind. Find another young, hungry coach who will work his ass off. The fact that Martelli and Eisley were HC candidates 2 years ago but aren't anymore speaks volumes. It's time to move on.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:59 PM ^
The longer he is removed from Beilein players, the more glaring it is that he isn't suited to be a high major HC.
Many write off the 2020 COVID season for football (and rightfully so)...but that was also Howard's most successful Michigan team, by far. Every other team has been barely .500 in league play and the last three (this season included) have been barely .500 (or worse!) in the non-conference, with a litany of embarrassing losses.
Barring some kind of miracle turnaround, the Howard Era should end come their Wednesday loss in the B1G Tournament.

Fire...
Fuck it, this season is over.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:18 PM ^
I hate these long reviews. It's pretty clear that PSU's defender knocked the ball away. Just accept it an move on; UM isn't winning or losing this game based on this play.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:18 PM ^
If the replay takes this long the call on the floor should stand. Big ten officials suck
January 7th, 2024 at 2:20 PM ^
No clutch pg or center is why we suck . Offensive playbook is absolute terrible .
January 7th, 2024 at 2:20 PM ^
I fell asleep. I assume I missed nothing.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:22 PM ^
I will admit - I was wrong about Williams. He's limited physically but he's made a big jump this year offensively. On a better team he'd be an asset as a shooter and a secondary rebounder.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:25 PM ^
He’s just too inconsistent. I think his scoring is up this year because someone has to score so he gets more time and looks.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:29 PM ^
The shooting, though, has gone from 25% from 3 last year to 45% this year. He's playing more minutes but his offensive rating went from 102 to 124, which is legitimately good. It would be one thing if he was just a volume shooter but he's not, and that's the difference between this year and last. It's real improvement by him.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:26 PM ^
He definitely could be a valuable rotation guy on a good team. Hell, he was basically that for us as a freshman. But his minutes and role on this team are absurd. Of course there's no obvious replacement here.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:44 PM ^
TWill is a competitor and committed to the team. I think he gives us a much as his talent will let him.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:26 PM ^
What's annoying is Michigan blew 2-3 FTs minutes ago that would be really nice now. Instead of it being a 5-point game it would be a 2-point one. And that's not really on the coaches - that's guys like Dug and Tschetter just hitting easy shots.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:26 PM ^
As a Michigander (who played and really knows hockey) the title really threw me off. The Palestra is/was a legendary hockey arena in Upper Michigan, and the first arena in the world built specifically for hockey. It hasn’t existed since the 70s, and I’m not remotely a basketball fan, so… took me a moment.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:27 PM ^
Your dunk doesn't count so there.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:29 PM ^
Asshole penn state player with windmill dunk after the buzzer. And then some dumb fan is out on the court.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:34 PM ^
tempted to watch the lady hoosiers in order to watch a game called basketball today. confounding lack of performance on the men's side (and it seems to be MI and several other teams...).
Somebody needs to do something.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:35 PM ^
Thank you Mich hoops for your sacrifice for Michigan football. This will not be forgotten
January 7th, 2024 at 2:43 PM ^
Howard has the worst offense sets in the big ten . No back door cuts or lobs , no coming off double stagger screens or back screens ! Our players don’t even know how to use a screen properly .
January 7th, 2024 at 2:45 PM ^
This is so discouraging. We have no basketball sense. 18 turnovers on careless and sloppy play. Letting a double digit lead evaporate in a few minutes. Looking and playing confused. No identity, except turnover prone and choking close games.
January 7th, 2024 at 3:04 PM ^
Sacrifice continues. Thanks, Juwan, for looking out for football.
January 7th, 2024 at 3:41 PM ^
Is this team even going to win 5 games in conference play?
January 7th, 2024 at 3:54 PM ^
Juwan still has a better record his first five years than Beilein.
Just sayin'...
January 7th, 2024 at 5:02 PM ^
It matters more what direction this team is going. Down is the word so far. Hate to see them on a losing streak. One game at a time.
January 7th, 2024 at 5:18 PM ^
Problem is, it's going to get worse. The schedule in the near future:
@ Maryland (9-5, but 8-1 at home)
Ohio State
#9 Illinois
@ Purdue
Iowa
@ Staee
We could be staring directly at 8-13 overall, 3-7 halfway through the B1G schedule.
January 7th, 2024 at 5:28 PM ^
Yeah but Howard inherited a MUCH better situation than Beilein did.
January 7th, 2024 at 7:35 PM ^
Beilein took over a total tire fire.
Juwan took over a top tier program loaded with talent.
He’s literally running this program into the ground. The experiment is over. He seemed like a great hire at the beginning but clearly can’t cut it. Time to move on.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:30 PM ^
Just sayin'...something dumb.
January 7th, 2024 at 9:01 PM ^
This statement without any context is just trolling.
January 7th, 2024 at 9:07 PM ^
Gee, it's not like he inherited a far far far better program than Beilein did.
