BACON STEAKS
December 21st, 2023 at 9:08 AM ^
if you've never had omaha steaks, treat yourself or buy/send some as a gift. they are outstanding.
i will say it's been many years since i have ordered from them but the beef was so good it is probably one of the motivating factors that got us into cattle farming so we could grow our own.
and if you're helping out seth in the process, what's not to love?
December 21st, 2023 at 9:15 AM ^
next year we'll be looking for the XM-aha Steaks promotion....... might have to take chocolate chip pumpkin muffins in place of the carmel apple tartlets.... but you won't be sorry, the quality of both will stand up to omaha.
December 21st, 2023 at 4:30 PM ^
If XM gave out his personal email address and/or cell phone that would definitely make it easier for us to order from him. He could also put on a beef festival at his property, call it XMFest and invite all MGobloggers to the farm for the weekend.
December 21st, 2023 at 7:01 PM ^
kidding aside, for about 99.9% of the mgoblog i would love to do that. but....there is that .01% of crazies that make that unwise.
i have had the privilege though of meeting and getting to know dozens of mgobloggers over the years and invariably it has been enjoyable. there are many here that if they would give me an email address, even a throw-away, i would gladly reach out to them via back channels.
December 21st, 2023 at 9:18 AM ^
Yeah i was wondering if anyone had them recently. I remember them being outstanding maybe 20 years ago when my father used to order them, but im skeptical of anything nowadays as it seems like just about everything is lower quality than it used to be. Anyone have more recent reviews?
December 21st, 2023 at 9:39 AM ^
but im skeptical of anything nowadays as it seems like just about everything is lower quality than it used to be.
It's pathetic how poor the quality of the meat you get at the grocery store nowadays is...
December 21st, 2023 at 9:46 AM ^
Something tells me you wouldn’t eat what Bear Grylls is offering. Just brought home some tenderloin for the wife & boys. It will be outstanding.
December 21st, 2023 at 10:33 AM ^
My mother-in-law used to get me some gift certificates so I've placed a few orders in the last couple years.
The steaks are good, worth the price - especially with an MGOBLOG coupon. Watch out for the packages that give you a few steaks and then round out the rest of the order with chicken breasts and burger patties - I didn't find any of that stuff to be better than regular grocery store stuff.
December 21st, 2023 at 11:21 AM ^
but the chicken breasts are AIR CHILLED.... whatever that means.
December 21st, 2023 at 9:22 AM ^
...and now, if you are like us, you cast a wary eye toward any beef that is not your own. Sadly, we have sold our cattle...but luckily we have good neighbors :)
December 21st, 2023 at 9:37 AM ^
We're fortunate to have a grass-fed beef farm/ranch just down the road from us just outside Ann Arbor. You can see the cows used for their meat grazing in the pastures nearby. They sell fresh beef (all cuts) and frozen, at their store on the property.
December 21st, 2023 at 9:47 AM ^
fwiw.... xm raises some damn fine grass fed beef, if you're ever looking for a change of supplier.
December 21st, 2023 at 9:48 AM ^
our cows (and sheep and chickens) are on grass, no grain. leaner/smaller animals, but the flavor is outstanding and no GMO feed, no vaccines/hormones/pesticides/herbicides to be found on the farm.
December 21st, 2023 at 10:10 AM ^
Do you practice regenerative farming?
December 21st, 2023 at 10:23 AM ^
if i understand that word in the way that you do, then 'yes'. no fertilizer, either. we use the animals and/or their scat to grow the bio-structure.
December 21st, 2023 at 10:43 AM ^
+1 for scat. That’s just an automatic upvote.
December 21st, 2023 at 11:22 AM ^
would have preferred the poo emoji..... but scat is a comperable reference.
December 21st, 2023 at 6:11 PM ^
XM is the scat man
December 21st, 2023 at 7:08 PM ^
there are at least a few here that think i'm full of scat.
December 22nd, 2023 at 10:45 AM ^
Scatman Crothers came to mind at this. Amazing how memory of the most trivial of trivia pops up but can't remember the name of someone I met yesterday!
December 21st, 2023 at 9:38 AM ^
Idk they tend to be too small and the prime cuts I get from my butcher are absolutely phenomenal.
I haven’t ordered a steak in a restaurant in years … mine are better IMO.
If I want steak, I see my butcher, have it cut to the size/thickness I want, and put it on my perfectly seasoned 8 year old Char-Griller Outlaw with natural wood chunk charcoal.
December 21st, 2023 at 9:49 AM ^
Same, I haven't ordered a steak or rack of ribs while dining out in years.... I'm not paying someone else to prepare my steak or ribs if they aren't better than what I do at home.
December 21st, 2023 at 10:25 AM ^
Yup. Why pay $80 (plus tip, drinks, etc) at a steakhouse when I can spend $50 on a 1.75 lb prime ribeye and have it taste even better in the end?

December 22nd, 2023 at 1:36 PM ^
I'll just have a ... sugar packet or two
December 21st, 2023 at 10:27 AM ^
Speaking of steaks, you better keep an eye on yours.
December 21st, 2023 at 2:12 PM ^
oh, ours have gotten out a time or three or four. i have an old video of the two oldest boys going to corral two bulls that had gotten out. the younger of those two, maybe 8 or 9 at that time, grabbed one of my hockey sticks and charged down the hill at the bull in a version of 'hillbilly braveheart'. the bull dug in for a second, head down, pointed right at the son, but turned as the son continued to charge and then 'thwack!' the bull with the hockey stick, the bull wheeled, the son then cut him off from getting out to the big pasture, and headed him back to the regular one. a dandy of a charge.

Perfectly complimented with a glass of whole milk.

Overpriced
December 21st, 2023 at 9:57 AM ^
Way overpriced
December 21st, 2023 at 10:21 AM ^
and how many gifts have you two grinches ever given or received that weren't either overpriced and/or some type of unneeded bauble?
December 21st, 2023 at 10:54 AM ^
I once received a hug from Ace that was both overpriced and unneeded
December 21st, 2023 at 11:48 AM ^
a hug? he must have rested up a few days to muster up the energy for that......
December 21st, 2023 at 11:57 AM ^
He got $100k in donations to help get him moving

hitting the block button on Twitter takes a lot out of you
December 21st, 2023 at 11:44 AM ^
Is it a gift if you have to pay for it? A discount on extremely overpriced wal-mart quality steaks that in the still ends up being more expensive than wal-mart steaks after the discount is a pretty grinchy gift.
December 21st, 2023 at 10:17 AM ^
320 bucks for 8 10 oz ribeyes...I'm gonna pass
December 21st, 2023 at 10:24 AM ^
Just FYI, dealing with offshore books usually takes you into the world of crypto transactions, sign up bonuses and significant rollovers. If you aren't familiar with those, stick to your Draftkings/Fanduels of the world.

Thanks, but I shop at Food and Stuff. It’s where I get all of my food…and most of my stuff.
December 21st, 2023 at 11:56 AM ^
Food and Stuff is all fine and dandy, but I prefer the wares at the local Try'N'Save.
December 21st, 2023 at 6:23 PM ^
I shop Smart, I shop S Mart
December 21st, 2023 at 10:45 AM ^
Lol I definitely bought the steaks 🤣
December 21st, 2023 at 10:49 AM ^
Unfortunately, Omaha Steaks isn't honoring the 50% off site wide, they should probably fix that.
December 21st, 2023 at 11:01 AM ^
Omaha!!!!!!!! Omaha!!!!!!!!!!
December 21st, 2023 at 11:22 AM ^
I have words about Omaha Steaks. But I'll hold my tongue out of respect of the board needing to make money.
Edit...
Screw it.. I can't help it. Save your money and get better meat from your local butcher. Or at the very absolute least go to Kroger. Hell even Wal-mart has better steaks than Omaha steaks on most days. All you will ever get is choice and select cuts for well over prime cut prices.
On the plus side if you don't know anything about beef the part of your brain that lies to you to make you feel better about bad decisions will tell you it's the best steak you've ever had.
