Nick Eddy, Mel Far “superstar”, Lem Barney, Mike Lucci, Greg Landry, Bill Munson, Alex Karris, Billy Sims and everyone else from my era salute you.

A job fucking well done boys.

Took Dad to his first Lions game with my bro. Lots of Honolulu Blue, maybe 20% of stadium? B2 stealth bomber flyover was awesome. 8 drops by Chiefs receivers, but some of those were extremely tough. Really good interactions between fanbases. $100 for 2 burgers and lemonades... I'm a chiefs fan first, Lions fan second. Couldn't be sad about this outcome, just really proud for Detroit. Keep it going Lions

I'm more excited about the Lions this year then I was back in the 90s. Just because there is no great team in the NFC North (use to be central). I think if they win 10 games they could take the division. So, only 9 more games to win!

Kelce being out had more of an effect than I thought it would. That's not to say last night would've been seamless for Mahomes with or without him, but I take Mahomes as the kind of guy who is just going to find a way to win regardless of the obstacles you put in front of him.

Regardless, whether they had to play Kelce or not, whether they had to deal with Chris Jones or not, this is huge for the Lions. This is possibly their biggest win in years. Decades, maybe. Going into Arrowhead and knocking off the defending champions, knocking off Mahomes and the new face of the NFL, this sets the tone and the momentum for the rest of the season.

Interesting lead with that list of Lions' greats.

I just watched Paper Lion on TCM with Alan Alda as George Plimpton.  All of the Lions (except Garo Yepremian was played by his brother) were played by the actual Lions so Mel Farr, Lem Barney, Nick Eddy, Mike Lucci, and Alex Karras (Blazing Saddles, Webster) were on the screen for more than a cameo.  Joe Schmidt played Joe Schmidt.  Michigan great, All-Pro Ron Kramer, (star personality at Red Run Golf Club, bought me an orange juice on a hot day) was also in the movie.

Can I just say that I enjoy a Lions team with the odd ballsy playcall, made because they just can and not because they need to try something, anything? If there is anything that serves as evidence that this is a culturally different team, it's that, and it is nice.

I slandered Goff when he came here, but now I'm super impressed with him.  He really seems like a smart player that knows where to go with the ball and doesn't turn it over.   He's doing things I never saw Stafford doing here.

I've seen some attention on Twitter drawn to a comparison of Goff vs Stafford using the 3rd down pass play on the game winning drive to Reynolds, where ARSB was wide open in the seam, although not technically a read for Goff on the play.  I guess Stafford had a similar play-call in their SB run where Kupp ran the same play and also wasn't part of the read/progression.  Goff ran his progressions and made a great play.  Stafford improvised and hit a huge play to Kupp that wasn't supposed to be the target.  Perfect example of the differences between the two QBs.. I always felt like Stafford took too much heat for the Lions' struggles, but I think Goff's style works really well for this team.

Stafford is the better QB, certainly career-wise (as he picks up late-career dings performances may not stay consistent), but I love the way the Lions moved to Goff. It has been a great, moneyball-style move for the franchise. He absorbed a bad season without being the center of any real controversy because he wasn't expected to be a SB winner, and the Lions wisely choosing not to just chase the first guy with "QB" next to his name in the draft has allowed him to grow and be, at minimum, a capable QB, with a chance to deliver more. And he isn't the center of gravity for the team or the cap, allowing the rest of the team to be built with good players.

And now he's beating KC in KC. I don't actually think the Lions can win a Super Bowl with him, but he is in every other way terrific for this franchise. The Stafford-for-Goff trade may wind up being one of the smartest decisions in Lions history, long-term.

I like Goff and he's been great lately but that 4th and 3 on their 2nd to last possession he's got 10 to 15 yards of grass before a Chief can touch him.  That made me furious.  I can understand not being athletic enough to run for a 1st down regularly, but what I cannot abide is a QB that refuses to run.  Won't even consider it.  I hope the Lions take a good long look at Hooker when he gets off injury.  If they've got a playoff spot locked up in the last couple games, give him a look.  Goff won't win a Super Bowl if he avoids running like he did.

I told my friends when the Lions drafted Aidan Hutchinson that is was a true test of his greatness.  He performed one miracle as a major part of turning Michigan around and putting us ahead of OSU.  Now if he could turn the Lions around, THAT would be doing the impossible!

Go Lions!

SOL would have been 2 penalties against the Lions to keep the Chiefs last drive alive, phantom or otherwise. SOL was the Lions having to overcome their opponent AND the zebras (Pettigrew - pass interference - America's other team among many, many other game-changing examples). It didn't matter how many times they made the right play, a questionable flag would come out to snatch victory away.

Not last night. When those flags were thrown during the Chiefs last drive, the ingrained SOL caused my heart to sink. That was the point of the game where the networks/league/refs would help determine the outcome for their favorites. Are we beyond that? Are the Lions now a media and league darling? Be still my heart.

Chiefs fan who was at the game here.  Lions looked good and deserved to win.  A few thoughts:

1) The Chris Jones-sized hole in KC’s line was obvious all night and the Lions exploited it to the max.

2) Receiving was a major problem for KC (*cough* Toney *cough*).  Missing Travis  Kelce really exacerbated that.

3) Hutchinson was a beast, and yes, he was getting held all night, just like in college.  Seeing him in person for the first time drove home for me how HUGE and FAST he is.  He is a problem, and the Lions are lucky to have him. He also came out of the tunnel with a ton of swagger at the beginning of the game, egging on the crowd, etc.  I could see him in the WWE some day, lol.

4) Goff had some nice throws. He seemed like a good enough QB to get them where they want to be.

5) I also agree that Campbell had a great game plan, and loved (hated, but loved) the fake punt from deep in their own territory.

Congrats, Lions fans.

Receiving looks to be the biggest problem for both of these teams. Marvin Jones poor game was overshadowed by just how horrendous Toney played. Outside of Amon-Ra the Lions seem like they need to scheme guys open. Hopefully further integrating Gibbs & LaPorta into the offense will help aide the Lions WR issues moving forward.

I kept looking for Skyy Moore for KC but it never seemed like he was getting open. Meanwhile Toney did seem to get open quite a bit but.. yeah, those hands.

Yes, yes, it's that time of year again, when the Lions, who haven't been to the playoffs in 11 years and haven't won a playoff game since Bush and Yeltsin were running the USA and Russia (1992 for the many who weren't born yet), somehow imbue some bit of unwarranted optimism in their fanbase...only for it to be dashed against the same rocky shoals that have sunk them every year except one since *1957*.

There is group text message of my FFL.  Most of us are old timers that can remember the lions from the 70's and 80's.

Right at halftime when KC scored on 2 deep pass plays, one of the guys text "SOL".  I am so tired of that, I just responded with, "Stop with that whining S#$&!  If you don't like what you see, turn off the TV.  But I don't want to be bothered with that crap..."

To his credit though, at the end of the game he got back on the group thread and took his lumps and ate crow...

Despite the refs being on their usual Lions BS, the Lions for once got several gifts from the football gods for that win against the best team in football. Has the curse finally been lifted???
