Tipoff at 9pm on ESPNU. Waiting for Temple vs Villanova to wrap up but is a great game so far. GO BLUE!

I love Michigan wins, how about you?

I'm happy we won. I'm concerned about the fact that we cannot rely on Dickinson to put up 30+ every game, especially against BIG centers that he doesn't tower over, and excluding outside transfers and old JB guys, there has been a bad trend of poor shooting.

It’s a different approach with Howard. He recruits, schemes, and plans differently. So far, I love the results.

Jett shot the ball well in the first game…let’s relax and get a bigger sample size before we throw away the whole team

So EMU should go contend for the MAC. Watch them be a middling team and make us wonder about our squad for a while into February. But that team is skilled. Farakhan + Bates is a helluva team but there's another 2-3 very solid-to-good players as well. They SHOULD go dominate the MAC and this turns into quite a decent win.
Holy hell Juwann needs to do a Beilein and go hire a defensive guru.

So Eastern looked good. Not as good as Kentucky, Virginia, NC, and the rest of the Big Ten will look. Coach has his work cut out ahead of him!

Thank goodness we still have the giant

If they keep going like they did tonight, I'd guess EMU is a very strong MAC team. We did not play very well in many ways, but EMU are a pretty talented team.

Lot of respect for that kid Farrakhan's game. He's obviously not as talented or athletic as Emoni, but he plays smart.

Also freshman All-MAC and was 7th in the conference in scoring. That's a league that wins a tournament game or two every couple years. Just a good player.

Now let us never speak of this again.

When the announcer repeatedly says how poorly you are playing, and you go 13/17 from the field, 5/6 from the line for 31 points… you are special.

I normally don't mind Robbie Hummel, but there were points when I wondered whether he was watching the same game.
November 11th, 2022 at 11:37 PM ^
Agreed. I think he is excellent, but he definitely was not tracking on Hunter’s insane stat line.
November 11th, 2022 at 11:38 PM ^
He missed some bunnies/had some turnovers early in the second half and it got stuck in Hummel's head.
We also did not get him enough shots. He should have had like, 25 attempts.

Jaelin looked a lot better the last 5 minutes of the game. I’m hoping his shot comes around but he’s got a craftiness that may allow him to get to the basket. Jett needs to stop settling for threes all game long. Hunter is the man. Growing pains with Dug. His size is gonna be a hindrance going to the basket. T Will is the junk yard dog but sometimes falls in love with the three too much. He does post entry passing well though. Kobe made some individual defensive plays but he’s got a long ways to go. Reed is raw. Baker isn’t gonna play much if he fouls every time he’s out there. Barnes is still extremely raw. No idea where YoYo is. I assume Jace is out there for the steady hand late in games.

Terrance ended up 3-7 from behind the arc. Not too shabby. He also had 11 rebounds.

Survive and advance.

T Will with 18 and 11 - clutch effort when we needed it. He did this a couple times last year when no one else showed up.
November 11th, 2022 at 11:44 PM ^
He's just a super useful player to have as a fourth banana/glue guy. Maybe can be the third guy, but ideally it's Hunter -> Jett -> Kobe -> T Will.
November 11th, 2022 at 11:55 PM ^
I think Jaelin will become the third guy over Kobe. T Will is an invaluable player, just makes key plays.
November 11th, 2022 at 11:40 PM ^
we overcame a very motivated Emoni Bates, but if we don't shore up the free throw shooting this team is going to lose a lot of games this year.

Jace quietly played some excellent, critical minutes tonight.
November 11th, 2022 at 11:47 PM ^
My theory is that Juwan hadn't planned to give Jace a ton of minutes but then changed his mind when his wife gave him "the look" from her courtside seat. You know, the same look that Frank Pentangeli's brother gave Frank as he was about to testify in front of Congress in Godfather II.
Good thing Jace made the most of the opportunity though.

Username...checks-ish out?!

Considering a lot of ranked teams are struggling tonight, I'll chalk this one up to us working out the early season kinks. Great to get the dub, and hopefully our first two wins turn out to be nice Quad 2 wins at worst.
