"SEC Football Addict" YouTube Prediction on Michigan v Georgia

Submitted by Chaco on December 18th, 2021 at 12:24 PM

Can't tell if it is a troll, a UGA hater, or a legitimate prediction but they predict a Michigan win for 6 reasons:

- Michigan has #4 ranked scoring defense

- Michigan has superior special teams (#1 v #25)

- Michigan has a better QB + UGA has only faced 1 competent passing team (Bama)

- Michigan's explosive play ability - 10 (!) different players combined for 17 50+ yard plays

- Michigan is peaking at the right time - have won last 3 games 142-48 (2 of the games vs ranked opp)

- Michigan an overall better team

....not to be a kool-aid drinker but he makes some valid points

The parallels between SEC Football Addiction and Methamphetamine Addiction are pretty striking, at least in terms of the physical appearance of those addicted to either...

I think they match up well.

The wild card player is Covid, as it's now clear the vaccines are doing nothing to stop it.

And that probability favors Georgia.

Are we really going to have to do this again?

https://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/1600/coronavirus/data-tables…

Unvaccinated 12-34 year-olds in Washington are
• 5 times more likely to get COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 12-34 year-olds.
• 23 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 12-34 year-olds.
Unvaccinated 35-64 year-olds are
• 5 times more likely to get COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 35-64 year-olds.
• 17 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 35-64 year-olds.
Unvaccinated 65+ year-olds are
• 6 times more likely to get COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 65+ year-olds.
• 11 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 65+ year- olds.
• 13 times more likely to die of COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 65+ year-olds.

Could easily find many more studies that show the same thing,

Maybe you should think through both your understanding of written English and math/science  before calling other people stupid.

From a written English perspective, nothIng in the statement: “The wild card player is Covid, as it's now clear the vaccines are doing nothing to stop it.” suggests you were referring to the preventing the disruption of competitive sports schedules.

From a math/science perspective, if vaccinated people are both less likely to get covid and less likely to need to  be hospitalized, vaccines have and are preventing more severe outbreaks.   If there were more severe outbreaks, more things including competitive sporting events would in fact be disrupted.    In other words, vaccines are doing plenty to prevent greater disruption of competitive sports schedules.

The opposite is clear. Vaccines are the reason outcomes are so mild. Spread and vax evasion rate differences are expected possibilities from variants. Just rudimentary scientific principles playing out in real life.

This is a statistical analysis. Past performance is no guarantee of future returns.

Schemes, prep, and grit win games. There is no talent differential here to make up the difference.  This will come down to execution and a winnable game plan.

Either team could win.  For the first time in a long time - I like the Michigan coaching schemes.

I've only watched the first half of Georgia vs. Tenn, but they look very mortal.  Good team, lots of dangerous players, but they've got holes we can attack.

D-Line is huge, but contain and edge tackling is not great.  LB's are tough and fill the hole and take on lead blockers better than OSU, but don't move laterally so good if we can get a man on them.  Corners can be beaten especially in press coverage.  The free safety seems talented, smart, can cover a lot of ground.

On offense, James Cook, (Dalvin's brother) looks like the real deal, great acceleration, runs downhill with authority, good route runner and pass catcher spread out.  The other RB White looks more like he picks and chooses his way through the line, wasn't terribly impressive, but it's only one half of football.  Stetson looks small and quick.  Can avoid the rush and get upfield in a hurry.  O-line looks really good, handled stunts well, got to the 2nd level on run plays.  But I think we can still get pressure with our edge rushers.

I think it's going to be a close game, but I don't really think we're a 7 point dog, maybe 2 point dog.  I'd bet on use to win outright.

I can't wait for Davis to get a Haskins trap go right by him...  Varstardis has to be licking his chops for this game - dude isn't the most athletic guy in the world, but he doesn't shy away from physical contact.  He'll be getting help from All, and from one the best run blockers I can remember in a long time - Zac Zinter.  Zinter will be crushing that guy...  And wait until he takes a play off when JJ has a passing down.  LOL!!  Vastardis will put him right on his fat ass.

Sure, he'll get his plays in - he is a pretty good player.  But he gets winded and can be lazy.  Harbaugh and Gattis will have a plan to punish that laziness, and it won't include tempo.  There may be a small tempo package, but it won't be the game plan.  That's just not Harbaugh's style.  Instead, I suspect it will be plays that clear out the LB'rs and leave space in the middle for a draw or scramble on a play that would normally be a pass.

I am totally buying what this dude is selling!  Sign me up!

Seriously though, I've been paying attention but I guess I haven't been keeping track.  I did not know that Michigan was #1 in quantity of plays of 50+ yards with 17(!!).  And it's not 2 or 3 guys.  It's 10 different players that make up that total.  I think this right here is why Michigan is so dangerous and the 7.5 or 8 point spread is sort of ridiculous.

I don't like selling Georgia short.  They're a great football team.  That said I think Michigan is even greater.  Computer love gerogia over the course of the season, but last three games nobody is playing better football than Michigan.  We have strengths in every unit, and from a fundamentals point and x factor stand point. And we don't really have any weaknesses.  Yes we lost to state, so we aren't perfect, but every team has at least one wart in its resume and we have no reason to be scared of anyone.

These are fun, but nobody knows what's going to happen until the game. Might as well use a Magic 8-ball, it's probably about as predictive.

Georgia is a very good football team. Michigan is a very good football team. Maybe it comes down to who has a better day?

A strangely anti-Georgia, pro-Michigan tone to this for a thing called "SEC Football Addict".

Must be some Alabama fan(s) doing this.  They keep calling Georgia Alabama's "little brother".  Wonder where they got that from?

We should not assume that the entire SEC will be pulling for Georgia.  Just like the entire Big Ten won't be pulling for us (or Ohio State when they were in this position).

I wouldn't claim momentum is a thing. After a month off it's basically like a new season...

It's hard to know what we'll look like but I bet the freshman are making big jumps in understanding and confidence. Love our young secondary. Never thought I'd say that this year!!
