Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions turkey day thread

Game on Fox. Home team up 7 midway through the first. Could this be the first win of the Dan Campbell era? And the last game of the Matt Nagy era?

Tube in and find out!

Or ear and drink yourself silly. Whatever.

Happy Thanksgiving! ?

If this game isn’t proof that the Lions made a colossal mistake of hiring a head coach nothing is. The dumb moves and the actions of his team and his coaches are an absolute joke. The guy like so many before him hired by the Fords is clueless.

Campbell should be fired immediately.

Soft coverage on 3rd and 4?

Rushing three on 3rd and 15. He is a fucking moron.

Rushing three has cost him three games now and he won’t learn

I really wish the roster wasn’t as bad as it is so we can see if Campbell is actually a good coach or not. I feel like the Lions are breaking him and he’s losing his mind trying to fix 20 different problems at once. Started at the year with decent decisions even though they were losing but the wheels have fell off.

This is probably why you don’t hire a first time head coach and stick him in the worst spot in the league. They need some with experience, like Jim Caldwell. Lol

How must the Lions leadership feel after their coach was booed constantly for his horrendous play calling on national television while the national commentator openly ridiculed his incompetence throughout the broadcast. The Lions will never get it right as long as they are owned by the Fords. Same Old Lions!

This is going to date me, but I am old enough to remember when the Lions were considered near locks to win on Thanksgiving.

I do have to question the ‘Loins’ pejorative for the team though, because unlike the actual team, loins can actually be a source of pleasure.

Does not bode well for the rest of the season.

The Bears were one of the "weaker" teams on the schedule - the remaining games against Minn and GB will probably be lost because those teams are striving to stay in the playoff hunt.

Dec. 5 Minn - Minn isn't out of it yet, so they'll play hard.

Dec. 12 At Denver - Broncos are in last place in the AFC West at 5-5 but the leaders all have 4 losses so they'll play hard.

Dec. 19 Arizona - probably the best team in the NFC right now, trying to lock up home field advantage.

Dec. 26 at Atlanta - currently with a losing record (4-6) and last in the NFC South - so there is a glimmer of hope

Jan. 2, at Seattle - another losing record (3-7) in the NFC West basement, but Seattle is always a hard place to win at - and at that point if the Lions are winless, there is huge pressure NOT to be the team to lose to them.

Jan. 9 Green Bay - probably division winner, trying to jockey for playoff position. Best hope is that the Packer position is secured and the game is meaningless and they'll rest at lot of their starters, but again, if the Lions are winless still, pressure will be on NOT to be that team.

I haven't been able to have our traditional Thanksgiving with family b/c of the pandemic, but there is one Thanksgiving tradition that has not changed......the Lions losing another Thanksgiving Day game......
