Best hire for the program since Don Brown. I hope he can do more than coach RBs because if he can, the ceiling will be high.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:03 AM ^
And he loves Michigan and hates our rivals. Success follows this guy around - so glad we got him back in the fold!
September 12th, 2021 at 2:40 AM ^
Well, you’re right, but Mike had said some pretty funny stuff over the years in the “ultra competitor” mindset. I think when he was coaching at Eastern and we played them he said something like “I don’t care about Michigan! I hate Michigan!”
We all knew it was bullshit but I can appreciate the guy trying to motivate his players to the fullest extent.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:03 AM ^
That’s what I appreciates about you Michael Hart.

Let's take about 15% off of her there drjaws!

will do Wayne
September 12th, 2021 at 12:04 AM ^
Thank you Mike Hart. Can you coach WRs and QBs?
September 12th, 2021 at 12:05 AM ^
Can we get some love for Sherrone Moore too? The OL was a beast tonight.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:13 AM ^
As of now, they look like an elite rushing OL
September 12th, 2021 at 1:13 AM ^
Yep. I'm most impressed by the OL. Sherrone Moore as the OL coach is doing wonders.
And I know people want to speak highly of Hart but it was actually Jay Harbaugh that scouted, evaluated, and recruited Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum to Michigan.

I absolutely LOVE that Mike Hart is back and coaching for Michigan. But yeah, people act like Jaybaugh is the worst thing on the entire staff. It's ridiculous that he's hated so much - he's been an excellent coach at every position group he's handled, is a great recruiter (one of the staff's best), and has had special teams humming really well. The kid is a GREAT coach!
Getting Haart for RB's has let Jay concentrate more on ST's and TE's - and both units are playing well.
September 12th, 2021 at 9:54 AM ^
That's great but it is only the beginning. Both the recruiting and the coaching are important. My personal experience informs that coaching is the highest of trump cards.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:06 AM ^
I am biased... But how can you not love and root for Mike Hart? I hope for nothing more than him to become the next OC and eventually HC in waiting!
September 12th, 2021 at 12:08 AM ^
Absolutely. Well done Coach Hart.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:10 AM ^
RB's do look improved. Some of that is Blake Corum and Hassan Haskins - but some of that is also Mike Hart.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:13 AM ^
He came back and now Michigan has its best RB room… since Mike Hart! Thank you, Coach Hart
September 12th, 2021 at 12:17 AM ^
I noticed the difference last week -- the grind for the couple extra yards on almost every run.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:19 AM ^
I couldn't help being annoyed with the broadcast - in a game where we're putting up 300+ yards rushing, there's almost zero focus on our running backs coach. What the heck? Give the guy some love!
September 12th, 2021 at 12:26 AM ^
Sean Mcdonough was awful! The dude should be a funeral director.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:38 AM ^
Yea like how he jumped on Corum saying he should have been penalized for getting in an opposing players face only to see on replay that Blake was talking to the home fans.
September 12th, 2021 at 10:08 AM ^
At least he corrected himself! All too often, people say shit and then just ignore what they said when it's proven otherwise. So I'll give him credit for owning that mistake and correcting it.

Massive difference in the running back performance. Showing much more patience.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:32 AM ^
I love the stutter step both the RBs are doing to set up blocks and burst through holes. I don't remember them doing that before. With how complex some of the power blocking schemes we run are, it feels like the little hesitation really allows the OL to drive their blocks a beat to really open up running lanes.
September 12th, 2021 at 12:36 AM ^
It's definitely being coached because even Edwards when he came in for those couple of plays did it (that pause step).
September 12th, 2021 at 12:36 AM ^
The RB room looks special right now. Mike Hart was a stellar hire.
September 12th, 2021 at 2:17 AM ^
I hope Gattis leaves and Hart takes over. I think Hart may be the best offensive mind on our staff.
September 12th, 2021 at 10:35 AM ^
LOL, bro based on what? I love Hart as much as anyone, but that’s a crazy statement.
September 13th, 2021 at 2:11 PM ^
Behind door number 1 is the last 3 years of offense (with several NFL skill players)) behind door 2 is the man we know as Mike Hart. Im choosing door number 2. The Milton experiment broke me with him. I would throw the bank at Moorhead or any lower level coordinator that has consistently puts up 40+ ppg offenses. Mike Hart is going to be a fine O coord someday I am 100% sure of that.
September 12th, 2021 at 2:57 AM ^
The narrative is a high floor high ceiling
At the end of the day it is what it is
he will be who we thought he will be
when the dust settles
he just might be— and I’m going out on a limb here— a guy who might surprise some people
September 12th, 2021 at 2:59 AM ^
I forgot to say
the room
the running back room
oh yeah
its a room
September 12th, 2021 at 5:58 PM ^
Harbaugh Carlos Harbaughs.
September 12th, 2021 at 7:03 AM ^
Thank the heavens that we are finally done with the Jay Harbaugh RB era. Nepotism at its finest.
September 12th, 2021 at 8:41 AM ^
I gave you an upvote because I assume you are being sarcastic.
Jay may not have been at his best as the RB coach but he brought in ALL the current guys, plus “UCLA September Heisman candidate” Zach Charbonnet, and nearly Najee Harris.
Jay is a great recruiter and has done a great job on special teams IMO. He is probably better off back at TE as his primary responsibility though.
TLDR - There is a big difference between “Mike Hart is an upgrade at RB coach” and “Hur hur Jay sucks and is only on the staff because of Nepotism”.
September 12th, 2021 at 10:16 AM ^
This is an idiot's take...
Jay has consistently been one of the better assistants on the staff - regardless of the group he's coaching. He has ABSOLUTELY blown past the bullshit "nepotism" label and earned his position on the staff. Every position group he's coached has played well, and I'd argue that the special teams he's coached have been the best special teams unit's Michigan has had in 20-some years.
I'm also starting to believe in Hart as a better RB coach, but that's not an insult. What you need to do is recognize that Jaybaugh is a damn good coach and recruiter in his own right.
I will agree, though (and I've said this the last couple of years), that he needs to go outside of the family to really prove himself. He's going to be a really good coach over his career, but he's got to prove it away from dad and uncle. I'm just not sure we should be looking forward to that move...
