Visitors for Washington game
Visitor lists are always fluid, so I've been updating this list up to just a few minutes ago. Michigan is planning to host about 41 recruits for the Washington game, and probably more that we just don't know about at this point. The big fish are OT Josh Conerly, DT Walter Nolen, CB Domani Jackson, and...okay, there are a LOT of big fish.
I don't like to get into hyperbole territory, but this is one of the biggest recruiting events I remember, especially without the opponent being Ohio State.
Here's the list (LINK).

I'm so excited. In so excited. I'm so.. so... scared.

That episode is the only reason I never touched amphetamines.

You didn’t miss much…or did you?
September 10th, 2021 at 5:19 AM ^
That’s the only reason?

Saved by the (Ronnie) Bell replacement?
September 10th, 2021 at 7:32 AM ^
The pride of Farmington Hills.

I know I'm stating the painfully obvious, but it would be very advantageous to win this game, and to look good doing so.
September 9th, 2021 at 9:47 PM ^
Agreed, we definitely would benefit from scoring more points than Washington in this game.
September 9th, 2021 at 9:49 PM ^
Indeed that is painfully obvious, but it can't be overstated.
Great weather expected.
Great atmosphere UTLs.
Just win baby.
September 10th, 2021 at 12:17 AM ^
Okay, Don.
September 10th, 2021 at 12:38 AM ^
Better bust out the Villari-Cat a few times for the visitors. Show ‘em just how creative shit gets here.
September 10th, 2021 at 3:36 AM ^
Especially since 2023 5⭐️ OT Josh Conerly will be in attendance. He is from Washington and we’re both vying for his services. Hail!!
September 11th, 2021 at 8:29 AM ^
Indeed…even better!
September 9th, 2021 at 9:36 PM ^
Got DAYYUM!
September 9th, 2021 at 9:37 PM ^
Is there any news on Jackson's injury? Is it serious?
September 9th, 2021 at 9:41 PM ^
Heard somewhere it is season ending but that he would be able to enroll early and be a part of winter/spring stuff.
September 9th, 2021 at 9:47 PM ^
I've heard it's only season ending in much of the same way nick bosa in his last year at Osu. Could work his way back but wants to focus on being ready for spring football wherever he ends up. Wants to EE.

Remember when Rutgers was hosting a huge recruiting weekend for their home game against Michigan in 2016? Good times. Good times.
It would be a nice touch if we shut out Washington and scored exactly 41 points. One point for each recruit. Make it happen, Jim.
September 9th, 2021 at 9:49 PM ^
That is quite a list. Thanks Magnus !

Get ALL the Nolens!

Austin Ausberry – CB – Baton Rouge (LA) University Lab: Ausberry is a 6’1″, 185-pounder with offers from Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Michigan, among others. He’s a 4-star, the #24 cornerback, and #197 overall.
Yeah, this kid goes to HS on LSU's campus. I'd say the chances of getting him are...not great.
This is a really impressive list, though. Kudos to the staff for getting such a group up for a visit. The atmosphere should be electric.
September 10th, 2021 at 5:06 AM ^
This kid isn't going to LSU, they fired his dad. A little bad blood there my friend. We have a great opportunity here. His head coach loves Bellamy.
September 10th, 2021 at 5:28 AM ^
His brother Jaiden is also coming, who is a 2023 composite 5* LB.
September 10th, 2021 at 8:17 AM ^
Interesting story. But why would anyone think that LSU would do the right thing when it's on-field performance might be at stake? Anyone remember Will Wade? You should - he's still their basketball coach! Anyone remember Cajun Brady Hoke telling the state's HS and JC coaches that they can't let their young players learn from Michigan's coaches (because some of them might leave the state on a FB scholly)?
Fuck LSU. Just another trash SEC program...
September 10th, 2021 at 8:18 AM ^
If anyone manages to pry away top local players in LA it is Bama. Remember when Jamar Chase had Michigan crystal balls early? Remember when Derek Stingley was talking about a visit to M? There is a reason we've had like 2 starters out of LA in ever.
September 10th, 2021 at 8:37 AM ^
Was he fired or just suspended? I knew about the whole Title IX issue, but I thought he was just given a short break from the AD.

My wife and I sat next to his dad, Verge, at a bar at Notre Dame during the first weekend of the NCAA baseball tournament in June. It was also the first weekend of campus recruiting visits, which is why he was there. He was very personable and also not shy about sharing his views. He has two sons who are big-time recruits. He also works in the LSU AD, although if you google him you can see that many question why LSU continues to employ him. He repeatedly stated that he was only visiting Notre Dame because Marcus Freeman is a good friend and that OSU recruits the right way, like the SEC does. Hope this is a big weekend with so many big recruits on campus though.
September 10th, 2021 at 7:51 AM ^
You mean he’s openly seeking under the table money?
September 10th, 2021 at 10:31 AM ^
In all fairness, this could also mean encouraging attractive young women on your campus to have sex with recruits.
September 9th, 2021 at 10:34 PM ^
If someone made a decision to do most of the recruiting before a cold November game where we get pantsed by OSU...
I approve!
September 9th, 2021 at 10:42 PM ^
Hope we push for Nolan, the youngest.
September 9th, 2021 at 10:45 PM ^
I hope they are all duly impressed by the Michigan football operation.
September 9th, 2021 at 10:58 PM ^
The grocery bill to feed three Nolen brothers must be insane.
September 9th, 2021 at 11:08 PM ^
Hey, what's up with all these Washington recruits? This seems like they're just coming to see a fun game but not likely to have major interest??
September 10th, 2021 at 9:15 AM ^
I have a feeling that Michigan put more emphasis on Washington recruits in the 2022/2023 cycles because of the high profile nature of the Michigan vs. Washington game. It's a good chance to get Washington kids' eyeballs on the University of Michigan and keep the Wolverines in the forefront of their minds.
Otherwise, it's tough to get west coast kids to pay too much attention when Washington/Oregon/USC/UCLA haven't played Michigan in the past, what, 14 years? Off the top of my head, I feel like the last time Michigan played one of those teams was 2007 Oregon (bad memories, I know).
September 10th, 2021 at 10:37 AM ^
That's an interesting take and a pretty strategic approach. To plant seeds 3-4 years in advance when you expect to play a team from that region by scheduling it far out, with the hope you pry 2-3 players over a couple years. I wonder how helpful that has been?
I think we'd benefit from a home and home with a Southern cali team to keep that avenue open. We get a lot of interest from cali kids, but it often fades, or they transfer home. Maybe we if we had USC/UCLA on the schedule, it would bring us to them a bit better.
Hadn't really thought of the future recruiting cycle concept for a matchup, but guess it makes sense.
Makes that Texas matchup interesting, might be good to schedule A&M or UNC etc... dont take on the top schools, but take on schools with talent that are in talent-rich areas.
I guess it beats the Greg Mattison approach to recruiting - telling kids they're too stupid to get into Michigan unless they play football.

As our main man Mitch McGary says
WIN THE GAME

They are Walter Nolan's brothers. Offer them on the spot!

Last year the Wisconsin night game was a huge recruiting weekend too... Let’s hope this game ends in us coming out on top
September 10th, 2021 at 5:08 AM ^
Well that didn't turn out so bad, in the end, did it?
September 10th, 2021 at 5:59 AM ^
Let’s prepare gift bags stuffed with NIL cash and Jordans.

While 1 game against a struggling Washington may not tip the balance in these for us, a positive experience can go a long way towards good karma and future credibility.
September 10th, 2021 at 8:20 AM ^
This is the weekend that the MGOBLOG foundation has a number of potential sponsorship opportunities lined up outside the Big House to talk to top recruits....
Turn the wheels of the NIL deal.

I graduated from UW and, yes, Seattle is beautiful (most of the year), but Go Blue no matter what, forever.
