Yes!
Scary, suspenseful - awesome.
The ending was kooky but went with the rest of it!
Absolutely. It wasn't as big on jump-scares as some horrors, but I just wanted to curl up in the fetal position in the corner of the room after the credits started rolling.
Give Midsommar a watch. It's not as good as Hereditary, but still super messed up.
Midsommar gave me a legit panic attack watching it, but it is an amazing film. A24 has been putting out incredible horror and suspense films.
I think Hereditary scared me a lot more than Midsommar because I just haven't seen a horror like that in so long. After I finished Hereditary, I was way more prepared for the weird shit Aster was capable of showing lol.
Loved that movie. Toni Collette is an incredibly underrated actress.
10.1.1Not a movie, but bingeing Mare of Easttown. Seven episodes. There goes my night!
Watching a show, not a movie, as well. Final season of Bosch dropped a few days ago. Have been a big fan of the show - and was very excited that a new season was out - but gotta say not loving the storyline so far.
My wife and in-laws are big Bosch fans. I think they're through episode 4 of the new season, but she seemed generally happy with it so far.
I love Bosch. We watched the entire series twice. Looking forward to seeing the new season.
"Nobody" was actually not bad. But man, it was violent, way more than I thought it would be. It was funny at a couple of points. The good guys were good. The bad guys were bad. There was no good guys wondering if they should be good, or, questioning what good is.
But again, it was violent.
Slippin Jimmy with John Wick training.
I haven't watched John Wick yet. I going to.
The Brothers Grimsby with Sasha Baron Cohen was hilarious. It’s on FX Now with commercials.
Watched Penguin Bloom the other day and really enjoyed it.
Just finished Argo. Which was very good. Then I read how completely inaccurate it is to real events. So. I’m feeling less than satisfied now. Life is disappointing.
Don't be.
Movies that link history in one way, shape or form are always wildly inaccurate.
Argo Fuck Yourself.

I loved it. I don't care about the Hollywood dramatic license. The basic story is authentically told. I've always had a fascination with Iran, but especially that era.
Tom Hanks - "Sir, I am going to play you in a movie. I am going to say things you never said. I am going to places where you have never been. What do I need to know to play you as well as possible?"
I watched The Drop the other day. And, wow I miss James Gandolfini. Such a great talent that was taken far too early. Tom Hardy's performance is well done too. Good solid B+ film for me and I definitely recommend a watch to anyone who hasn't seen it.
"Gandhi" was on ScreenPix earlier, so there was that.
In keeping with my promise to show the kids one classic film every Sunday this summer (assuming time permits, of course), tomorrow is "Marathon Man".
They must have dentist appointments upcoming.
Is it safe?
Had the kids watch Mrs. Doubtfire.
HEELLLLOOOOOOO
Last night I watched the Metallica film Some Kind of Monster. It was quite possibly the most cringe worthy behind the scenes rock film. But that's what made it awesome. Metallica essentially put everything out there for everyone to see. It's amazing and took a tremendous amount of courage to do. I'd seen snippets of it over the years, but that was the first time I watched it start to finish
Just caught up on all episodes of Star Wars The Bad Batch. Great series so far.
Watched Fletch for the one millionth time yesterday.
Honest question for you (and any Star Wars fan in general): are the Clone Wars/Rebels/Bad Batch animated series worth watching? Put another way, would I as an adult get enjoyment out of them, or are they geared more towards the pre-teen/teenager audience?
I loved Star Wars growing up, probably liked the prequel trilogy more than most people do (Hayden Christensen was a victim of a god awful script, IMO), but I’ve never felt invested enough to watch anything beyond the live action movies and Mandalorian.
I’ve seen some folks here say they’ve liked some of the animated series that Star Wars puts out, but I’ve never been sure if those series are more geared for kids or if they can be enjoyed by adults, too.
If you are a Star Wars fan, you will enjoy Clone Wars, Rebels, and Bad Batch. They all tie in the the movies and provide enjoyable content on their own!
Seconded
Wow man. Really? Excuses for Christensen?
His scenes in Clone Wars with Portman were painful to watch and cringe-worthy.
Good or bad writing aside, the guy mostly just sucks.
No offense.
Go Blue.
the dialog and directing made Porman look like a poor actor at times. Now, you could make an argument for poor casting based on chemistry b/t the two, but I think HC should get a bit of a pass in one of his first roles.
A movie no one ever mentions, but was great undercover operation/suspense. Good from beginning to end.
A great sleeper:
Watching Greenland, even though it looked meh on the previews, since I can’t find anything else to watch. I’m about 2/3 through and it’s not at all what I expected. Pleasantly surprised so far.
American Sniper - Wife loves Bradly Cooper and I enjoyed the movie aside from him having to make the decision to shoot a child (not to mention it was for good reason but still)
Bradley Cooper should have won the Oscar. There's some splainin' to do why he didn't.
Love that movie - that scene is crazy intense
Just got done watching Million Dollar Baby. Trying to compose myself.
One hell of a movie - and featuring UM's Margo Martindale as Hillary Swank's scummy white-trash mother.
I've given up on trying to find a movie to watch and have fallen back on MST3K. I'd normally go for a proven classic episode like Space Mutiny, but I'm going with a new episdode: Mac and Me.
+1 for spending the night on the Satellite of Love.
Just watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original) for the first time. It was surprisingly good.
Two of the movies that I have to watch no matter how many times I've seen them were on yesterday: 1917 and Lincoln.
As a history buff I'm predisposed to like them both. Still, the first was an unvarnished look at life in the WWI trenches, as well as a fascinating "What happens next?" story. And Daniel Day-Lewis' turn as Abe was maybe the greatest performance I've ever seen on film.
Not a movie yet, but Project Hail Mary surpassed my expectations. I honestly believed that Andy Weir was the most overrated writer ever. I thought he had one good idea in the Martian and that was it. Wow was I wrong. Ryan Gosling has already started working on the adaptation. It is one of the best science driven books since Jurassic Park. I'd say that it is on par with Interstellar as far as taking theoretical physics and making a plot out of it that is compelling and believable. I am really hard to please as far as books go and I went into reading this ready to pick it apart and destroy it. I can't wait until the movie comes out.
On that note I rewatched Minority Report because I've been on a Philip K Dick reading binge lately. I definitely didn't appreciate what a great movie that was back when I saw it in the theaters in high school.
Minority Report is absolutely amazing.
Glad to hear you say 'Project Hail Mary' is good. I want to read that soon and am really hoping it's good.
Arrival is a smart sci-fi movie with a lot of heart.
Arrival is incredible. It made me feel alot of unexpected things.
The wife and I watched Nomadland last night. Definitely not the feel good movie of 2020. Well done, but depressing.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Much funnier the second time. Great movie, almost about nothing.
typically NOT a Tarantino fan but I've seen this multiple times and think it is excellent
