Yawn....Michigan is Winning the Charity Bowl
The Michigan money cannon has been dusted off and reloaded for the 2021 EDSBS Charity Bowl, and the initial standings are....not close.
As was the case last year, Georgia Tech is a strong -- but distant -- second place. But thus far Michigan has more than doubled GT's haul. Over $28k to under $14k.

With the competition being so lackluster, I say we aim our sights higher. Last year, we raised just over $60k. And if I did my math right, the rest of the B1G raised ~$70k (I see you there in 98th place, Rutgers). I say we put the rest of our conference to shame with our generosity and outraise the entire rest of the conference. It might cause our rivals to wake up a bit....and wouldn't that be an absolute travesty if we spurred Ohio State and Penn State donors to open their wallets for refugees for the sake of rivalry?
Spoiler alert: It wouldn't be a travesty.
So get out your credit cards and buff up your credit history a bit with a donation to the 2021 EDSBS Charity Bowl.

The lead has grown. Honestly, at this point I'll be surprised if Michigan doesn't top 100K on their own.

Probably time to get Slippery Rock up over OSU

So, $75.72 for Slippery Rock in honor of OSU's 2021 tournament performance against the mighty Golden Eagles?

It's insane that if you combine 2-6 they have only about $100 more than UM, and that's mostly because GT had a big donation.

Doesn't GT have one rich alum who puts in $10k or something?
Anyway, glad to see they're generating so much money for a worthy cause.

think Holly mentioned that there is a wolverine who does the same. I think she's said before that its a woman who doesn't want to be named so in my heart its Jane

Making the assumption that mgoblog generates a portion of the traffic and thus the funds for this, I'll be donating in a manner which doesn't tie my contribution back to Michigan...
... as long as MGoBlog staff condones misusing one's protected data that is and tries to justify abusing privacy practices because they think they are right.

You do you I guess?

The fundraiser is completely unrelated to MGoBlog, and I'm sure RRISA will happily take your donation even if you list OSU as the team you support.

I addressed that in the previous post. Reading is fundamental.

I mean, you mostly addressed your misunderstanding of privacy laws and terms of service, but it is true you also pointed out that you'll show all of us MGoBloggers by not donating in the name of Michigan. You truly are a pioneer for freedom.

Ummm no.
I completely understand them and am both CIPP /US and /E certified. But thanks for trying to correct me with your non-expert take. LOL.

I always thought our destruction of this fundraiser shows how unique MGoBlog is amongst the blogosphere. There aren't many (any?) other blogs that are so central to a single college fanbase where a simple "hey, donate to this" can get so many people moving
I suppose 11W is similar but I assume they're too busy debating what type of glue tastes best to get involved in things like this
I have always been surprised that so few other fanbases really get into it. I mean, EDSBS is read by a ton of people across CFB; you'd think the Texas schools, SEC, other Big 10 teams, etc. would be just as into it, and yet every year UM just laps the field.
especially as we as a fanbase and a school are a pretty frequent target of the "banter" from edsbs, mooncrew & the fullcast. I wouldn't say any worse than others but when our seasons go off the rails every season I have to stop listening for a few months out of self preservation.
I love how our base outlandishly shows out and makes it a point of pride. This weird corner of the internet which shall forever be Michigan
Yeah, I generally tune out once the season goes sideways because at some point the cackling gets a bit much for me to suffer through. It's also particularly funny coming from a couple of UT/Florida grads, who absolutely become "actually, I'm not even mad, I think it's funny" whenever those schools fall off the wagon.
But yeah, UM beating this weird juggernaut at fundraising for immigrants coming to America is heartwarming and also just a weird quirk of the internet.
I think you mean that 11W is busy debating which glue smells best.
Or which coolers are most comfortable for pooping.
I miss TWIS. I wish Brian would bring it back on this here blog...
I wish I knew why the ‘Why was xtramelanin banned?’ thread was deleted.
Some day we'll be able to turn this on recruits.
Soon.
