27-20 Michigan

Is this a reflection of my views on the relative talent and coaching on both teams? Not in the slightest. It's a reflection of watching too many ridiculous, improbable MSU victories or much tighter than expected losses to far more talented Michigan teams in the last 48 years—starting with 1978.

Regarding all the predictions of Michigan scoring 50 or more: that hasn't been done against MSU since 1947, when we beat Sparty 55-0.

That was a pretty good year.

I mean this really might be the worst MSU team we've seen from a talent perspective in... my lifetime? I was born in the mid-80's, so the games I can clearly remember start around 95, 96.

I just can't remember a time when they have looked this bad at critical positions. I'm sure they'll connect on a few things, force a turnover, etc.. but they look considerably worse than the 3-9 squad Dantonio put out there a few seasons ago. Not to mention they lose their spiritual warlock in Dantonio, can't practice most of the off-season due to covid while trying to install a new system, and don't have a whole lot of talent to work with to begin with.. I just think it could very much turn into a bloodbath early.

You do raise a fair point around that rivalry voodoo. It's always in the back of my mind as well.

My higher score is based on how disorganized sparty looked last week, because they haven't had the practice time they had vs what work Michigan put in during the summer and fall. Even Rutgers had more prep time than Mel Tucker's group.

Sparty got off to a late start this fall as they were hoping for no fall football. It's going to take that team several more weeks to catch up. Meanwhile the big losses will pile up for the green and white.

Remember the talent difference there was in Rich Rod vs early Dantonio years and the beat down sparty put on our team. Now the tables are turned as we have superior talent. This has the feel of the 78-0 beat down Harbaugh levied on Rutgers because of the talent difference that year.

I predicted the Sunday after the Minnesota game that we'd win 45-20.  I'll stick with that.

Last night driving to the store I caught part of the MSU football radio program and their player interviewed was talking about how this is the most intense week of practice that they have ever had...  Hopefully that doesn't translate to cheap penalties.

MSU is unlikely to turn the ball over that much again this year.  Their passing game was actually alright.  Our Minnesota game was against a team that had lost 7 starters from last year.  So we may struggle early on, but I think we pull away in the 2nd half.  We have more talent and we have better coaches.

I'm thinking MSU might score one early. But Michigan's overwhelming talent and Sparty's lack of spring practice/fall camp takes over very quickly and they quit on themselves again.

Michigan 46-10. Harbaugh goes for 2 once just because.

I like Mich scoring 7 TDs w extra pt conversions for 49 pts plus 2 FG for 6 more pts. Only 10 pts for sparty in garbage time with a TD and FG.

Mich 55, sparty 10.

48-17 UM

I strongly hesitated writing this prediction because these are the types of situations that have often historically bitten us in the ass (not necessarily losses, but much more nerve-wracking games than we anticipated).   But I am choosing the optimistic route in an effort to purge past fandom demons.

Also, wouldn't it be great to see McNamara get extended time in this game?

Good Guys - 45

East Landfill - 10

Good Guys run at will, pass effeciently, and we even make a FG!

Hutch & Paye live inside Rocky's mind, even when the game is over.

So, if we do not turn the ball over, AND MAKE FIELD GOALS, then we score every drive. 5 TD's, 3 FG's, plus another defensive TD = 51-16 for the good guys. Just make field goals...please.

I'm gonna go slightly less than full gung-ho here. Being 2020 and all.

We win, but it's not gonna look THAT lopsided on the scoreboard at the end.

Michigan - 38

Michigan State - 24

I can't tell if this is going to be a 49-10 type of game like we want/expect or it gets weird. UM comes out and has some sloppy play leading to turnovers and it just stays weird with a 14-10 score at halftime. Our collective anus sphincters tighten and and UM wins but it feels like Akron in 2013 lol.

I'll go 45-17 with a weird 17-7 score at halftime and all of sparty comments being "omg can you believe they are not kicking our ass even more I'm an osu fan now 'yay yay go bucks' they will slaughter UM."

I actually think we see a couple of rookie mistakes from Milton and MSU probably doesn't have 7 turnovers. This reverts everything back to the mean and we see something like M winning 31-14. Which is just fine.

42-14

I think it’ll be a slow first quarter for the offense and MSU will play some inspired defense. It’ll be 10-7 Michigan at the end of the first and there will be a lot of teeth gnashing about how we’re letting them hang around and allowing them to believe they can win.

But emotion only gets you so far in football. MSU is shut down for the rest of the game minus a garbage time TD.

37-19. I just can't see it being that big of a blowout. Its a rivalry game, they'll have a major chip on their shoulder, our players may be reading press clippings, they won't have 7 turnovers again, their defense isn't bad and there is film out there on our offense. I dont think the game will ever be in doubt but I dont see us pulling away until late 3rd.

31-9  clunky game with several

"cumong man that was pass interference"

"cumong man that was a takedown from behind"

"cumong man he hit our guy first"

"cumong man you know they have the middle plugged up"

Still though 31-9 because the refs are only good enough for 3 FGs.
