OBJ on video passing out FAKE cash to LSU Players-Per LSU official
LSU has responded to the video of OBJ passing out cash to LSU players after the game last night. An official has said that it was all fake money and thus, there is no need to worry. I'm glad this was figured out quickly and easily. On to the next thing!

It's definitely the cash that OBJ passed out last night that won LSU the game.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:41 PM ^
NO, it was all the other "real" money that he has given previously!!!
January 14th, 2020 at 1:01 PM ^
I’d say it’s mostly coaching, talent, and execution but whatever you want to hang your hat on.
January 14th, 2020 at 1:28 PM ^
Agreed, and you GET better talent buying paying for it. If you do not realize this, then enjoy your ride good sir.

How has LSU’s recruiting rankings compared to Michigan’s the last three years?
January 14th, 2020 at 2:12 PM ^
2017: LSU #7, Michigan #5
2018: LSU #15, Michigan #22
2019: LSU #5, Michigan #8

A Heisman QB (even Heisman caliber) swings the pendulum.

Trying to reply on my phone has me going wtf lol.

Better athletes, better team. Let's not pretend that money doesn't play a significant role in the acquisition of top talent.
College football is a dirty, unregulated, business and the Alabama model works.
I believe that NIL era will dramatically change the college football landscape.

Trump comes out n talks about Clinton winning will be about hacking n voter fraud. Obj learned deflection from the king of deflection DT.
January 14th, 2020 at 2:41 PM ^
Forget about the politics - I honesty have no idea what you are talking about.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:14 PM ^
So either OBJ was handing out extremely realistic counterfeit money for some unknown reason, or the money was real. That is a tough one.

"This is the first I've heard of this"
"I didn't see nuthin"
Colonel Klink is the LSU compliance manager.

When I saw that clip I was in disbelief...optics were awful.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:14 PM ^
Obj charged with counterfeiting...
January 14th, 2020 at 12:15 PM ^
Bullshit. The money wasn't fake, but it doesn't matter at this point anyway.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:16 PM ^
The money wasn't fake, but the investigation wing of the NCAA is.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:19 PM ^
Of course, it all makes sense now.
BTW, for all the credulous readers of this thread, I have some property for sale. Any takers?
January 14th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^

January 14th, 2020 at 12:28 PM ^

Dammit. I WANTED THAT BRIDGE. I've already bought the Manhattan Bridge and the Triborough so that would have completed my collection.

Um, I have a nice box culvert outside of Kalamazoo that I am willing to give up for $10 and a decent bottle of port.

If OBJ hands you cash will you stop posting things that were posted three topics before? #MomsDelete

And here we have the crux of virtually every NCAA inquiry into bagmen activity for the past 15 years or so:
NCAA: "Did you guys do something wrong? Sure looks like you were paying players."
Team: "No we didn't. Honest. We didn't"
NCAA: "Well that's good enough for us. Let's wrap up the investigation and move on to other things. Sure glad that ordeal is over, huh?"
January 14th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
NCAA: "Did you guys stretch a little beyond the practice rules?"
Dave Brandon: "Yes, and we take full responsibility for our inept oversight and inconsistent enforcement of valid NCAA bylaws. Here are our logs of all instances of illegal stretching activities, and how we plan to update our internal processes."
NCAA: "F you, guilty of everything = 5 years of probation and eternal shame for your cheating ass program."
Michigan fans: "WTF just happened?"
January 14th, 2020 at 12:42 PM ^
We should let this meme go. The NCAA really hasn't been that harsh towards us. We nearly got off scot-free in the Ed Martin scandal, until FBI evidence made it impossible for the NCAA to ignore. And even then, we appealed and got our postseason ban reduced from two years to one.
As for stretchgate, the initial accusation sounded bad but the final ruling was next to nothing.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:26 PM ^
That is literally what is happening here. There won't be any further inquiry into this.
Here's the thing: I favor the granting of NIL rights. I've made posts about it here. But I'm not a fan of the idea that people will just get cash payouts for results like this. This looks unseemly to me. So, an argument that has some merit against NIL rights is the idea that there will be unintended consequences (which is true) and that you'll wind up with a wild west arrangement where cash is just thrown around for football and stuff. It will look bad and it will feel slimy.
That's an argument against NIL rights that has some merit to it, to me. Here's the thing:
You may not like the idea that if NIL revenue rights are granted to players, things will break down and cash will wind up being thrown around like scrap paper. I don't like it either.
But it is LITERALLY HAPPENING RIGHT NOW ON CAMERA AND NOBODY WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
So the bad "unintended consequences" of NIL rights literally already exist and there's video proof.
Just change the stupid rules that almost no one follows. Let Tom Brady hand out wads of cash to our guys. It may be a bit beneath my desired image of what the sport should be, but it's happening now anyway.
January 14th, 2020 at 2:56 PM ^
You think the bad "unintended consequences" of NIL is money being thrown at athletes for non-NIL reasons?
Here's the real bad consequence:
The NCAA will approve NIL and then set up a department to manage the NIL rights. All contracts will need to be run through and approved via the NCAA. Some deals will be rubber stamped automatically (i.e. requests from the SEC, Clemson, OSU, etc). Others will be held up for review (Michigan, McNeese State, etc). And the NCAA will take %60 of all of the NIL money to run the program. Leaving 20% for the schools, 10% for the conferences, and 10% for the actual player.
This will be called fair and just and last for the next 50 years.

January 14th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
It was Monopoly money and he’s just the banker.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:33 PM ^
Even OBJ can’t be that stupid to do it ON the field with a lot of cameras on, can he? I feel like it likely was fake money and obj just taunting the NCAA, or it was real money and LSU will go in full panic mode and they will give the money back and nothing will come of it.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:47 PM ^
You really think it was fake? You think Odell Beckham Jr found a Monopoly game (or some other fake money stash), stuck a big wad of it in his pants, and handed it out to grateful players after the game? You really think he put that much thought and effort into a prank to taunt the NCAA?
Here's what I think - an NFL multi-millionaire had a pocketful of cash for the game viewing party and after-party, and gave it away willy-nilly on the sideline while living it up with the guys who won the game. I don't think he offered them an incentive to win before the game. This was just making it rain in the post-game celebration, without the strippers...
January 14th, 2020 at 12:53 PM ^
Exactly, they will say it's a loan for an uber for the players girlfriends to get back home, and they'll pay it back.
January 14th, 2020 at 12:45 PM ^
OBJ currency must be worth something? Maybe a lap dance?
January 14th, 2020 at 1:55 PM ^
Ah yes because millionaire NFL players just walk around with wads of fake money to hand out to players
January 14th, 2020 at 4:11 PM ^
and players are really, really happy to take wads of fake money from millionaires.
January 14th, 2020 at 2:05 PM ^
Even if it was fake money it’s still legal tender at all Louisiana businesses
January 14th, 2020 at 2:50 PM ^
So the NCAA isn't going to bother figuring out that they can take the "fake cash" around the corner to a shady dude and trade it in for real cash?
