OT: Most 2019 Tigers Moment Ever
Another embarrassing moment for the Detroit Tigers... when are you realistically expecting them to be watchable again?

Summary: Center fielder botches a catch on the warning track. The ball comes out of his glove and goes over the fence for a home run.
I don't even know the center fielder's name, that's how little I care about the Tigers this year.

Yes, thank you. Wasn't sure how to embed the video into the post.
August 14th, 2019 at 9:09 AM ^
You got the embed just fine, just adding a little more for those that can't watch at work.
August 14th, 2019 at 3:29 PM ^
It's simple:
1. On the video, click "share". The location of the share link can varry from site to site. Then you'll see an option for embed.
2. Copy that code which appears after selecting embed.
3. Start writing your post. Click the "Source" button just about where you are typing your post.
4. When the format of the text changes after clicking the Source button, paste the code to the window.
5. Click the "Source" button again. The format of the text changes again.
6. Click the "Save" button.

Niko Goodroom was the CF. He was playing next to Brandon Dixon in the outfield. Both are considered "utility" players that don't regularly play the outfield. This is what happens with a gutted roster with no plausible options to pull up from the minors.
I never thought I would say this, but please heal quickly JaCoby Jones! (I know...he's out for the year).

In the video when I was trying to read the name on the jersey, I thought it said Goodrun. I'm really upset that's not actually his name. More disappointment by the Tigers.

You forgot the "crashing into the left fielder" part.
August 14th, 2019 at 11:12 AM ^
I left it out because it didn't really seem to contribute to the end result and for the sake of *ahem* dignity.
August 14th, 2019 at 12:17 PM ^
I disagree. I think the center fielder was bracing for impact when he was also trying to make the catch. Could be wrong.

Pretty sure it's Milt Cuyler.

Whoever it was, he didn't have the skills of Mickey Stanley, Chet Lemon or Curtis Granderson.......
The Tigers are the laughingstock of MLB right now.
Ownership is inept, management is inept and team is........??
August 14th, 2019 at 9:05 AM ^
Gotta talk out there.
August 14th, 2019 at 9:17 AM ^
It was Dixon and Goodrum, two utility players, who botched it. It was Seager’s 3rd HR for Seattle.
/smh

Not sure I know a single player on the Tigers roster.

Miguel Cabrera?
August 14th, 2019 at 9:31 AM ^
Has he played a game since April?
August 14th, 2019 at 6:26 PM ^
It's sad watching the shell of Cabrera. That said, he's still their best hitter, and it seems like he's the only one with any plate discipline whatsoever.
August 14th, 2019 at 9:08 AM ^
Saw that this am on ESPN.
August 14th, 2019 at 2:26 PM ^
Do most of the posts on the board not come from outside sources frequented by fellow MGoBloggers?
August 14th, 2019 at 2:58 PM ^
Was the GIF in reference to it being on ESPN, or the play itself? I took it to be directed to the CF...

Good point. Apologies MGrowOld!

When they bring Ernie Harwell back to the booth...........

When Mike Illitch starts caring about his team again.
(Yeah, the one that died a few years ago...)
August 14th, 2019 at 9:24 AM ^
To answer your question, two years. (It's hard to see my screen with a paper bag over my head.)
August 14th, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
They might start spending after next year, but more than likely start spending in 2 years.
Hopefully they don't completely destroy the fan base.

When they fire Avila.
August 14th, 2019 at 11:45 AM ^
Won’t happen while Ilitch owns the team

Going after that 1st overall draft pick I see... again.
August 14th, 2019 at 11:13 AM ^
I hear we're saving up for a great late-September run.
August 14th, 2019 at 10:37 AM ^
They've been playing like this all year. I was told to call for the ball when I was 8. Quite the professionals the Tigers have playing baseball.
August 14th, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Aren't they moving some of these players all over the place position-wise? It seems like some of them are playing a different position each game. That's just going to increase the number of mistakes.
August 14th, 2019 at 10:39 AM ^
We went from "Who's Your Tiger?" to "Who's A Tiger?".
August 14th, 2019 at 10:42 AM ^
Yup that's bad
August 14th, 2019 at 10:48 AM ^
Somewhere Jose Conseco is thinking, "that's nothing kid".

All time Canseco classic.
+1 for you ?
August 14th, 2019 at 12:54 PM ^
it had no affect on his head, but that ball was never the same.
August 14th, 2019 at 11:31 AM ^
weird shit happens all the time in baseball. guys run into each other all the time.
but yes, the tigers suck big time.
August 14th, 2019 at 12:25 PM ^
Looks like my trying to catch a fly ball.
August 14th, 2019 at 12:26 PM ^
I remember when they hired gardenhire lots were saying how he'd bring fundamentals to the team. Not much a manager can do if you have a outfield of Stewart and castellanos out there as they can't play defense for them.
With that said he's done a crappy job thus far. I know I know not much you can do with no talent but I'm not sure anyone else could have done worse than they have done on his watch. They fell below their season win total last year and are on pace this year for one of the biggest negative win differential as they were projected at 68 wins. Imo the job of any coach or manager is to get his team to exceed the preseason expectations and they are looking like they are going to be 20 wins below that.
August 14th, 2019 at 12:41 PM ^
cant make chicken soup out of chicken shit. They have no players. Glad that your idea of a good coach is his team exceeding preseason expectations.....whose? Yours? Some talking head at ESPN??? They suck because they have worse players than some AA teams, not because of the manager.
August 14th, 2019 at 2:30 PM ^
Honestly I am going to go against grain here and say that in 3-5 years we could be looking at a decent team again. The pitching talent in the farm is pretty good, just need to build up some hitting talent. Farm system has gone from one of the worst a couple of years ago to in the top 10 now. The best thing the Tigers can do is continue to tank and build hitting talent. Then when you have the young core, that is when you spend on some veterans to round it out. I'm not sure what people want them to do, sign veterans now so they are wasted on a team not ready to compete. That would be idiotic. Rebuild should have started a couple years earlier than it did honestly. It is just very odd to me that a couple of years ago sensible tiger fans were calling for a complete rebuild once the title window closed and now that they are doing it people are getting bent out of shape cause rebuilds tend to be really ugly initially.

It's doable. Look at the Astros rise in 4 years from laughing stock to WS champs.

I'm hopeful for the future. But in the meantime, this is from a classic:

Is this a 'two tool' outfield?
