Wisconsin winning at Iowa late (UPDATE: Wisconsin wins)
Wisconsin is up by 3 with just 8 seconds left. An Iowa loss means that Michigan and Michigan State have some breathing room in the B1G race.
And Kaminsky has just been fouled for the 1-and-1.
EDIT: Wisconsin wins. That means that Iowa has FIVE losses, which also means that Michigan and MSU are two clear of them in the conference. The winner of the game tomorrow has a clear route to the B1G title. If Michigan wins, we can lose any game and still win the title assuming Iowa, Wisconsin, and MSU all win out.
EDIT2: It has been pointed out that Iowa and MSU cannot both win out since they play eachother in EL. Even better.

big ten race will pretty much wrap up tomorrow if we win....

With a win tomorrow it's far from over. An away game in Lafeyette will be tough and Indiana is still very capable of beating us at home.

but with ohio on the road and Iowa at home for msu, and Indiana and Minnesota are reeling right now our odds would be astronomically in our favor....especially with no tiebreakers.

Before last season, Indiana had not won at Crisler since Beilein's first season ('07-'08) when Michigan was truly awful. Indiana is not a good team away from Assembly Hall. I would be more concerned with Minnesota, though they, too, have fared very poorly in Ann Arbor since JB arrived.

Good game. Iowa played a very good 2nd half after being down 9 at halftime but had a couple bad possessions at the end coming away empty. Good result for us and/or Sparty, though.
Couple other good games on apparently. Florida is being tested by Ole Miss and the Louisville-Cincy game, both on CBS.

Good point. I didn't bother to look at their schedules when I said that. It would be GLORIOUS if Iowa won that game.

MSU also has to travel to Columbus on Senior Day. We definitely have an easier remaining schedule. We're in pretty good shape regardless of tomorrow's outcome, but a win would make us heavy favorites.

for a few weeks now that Wisconsin is still going to win the B1G. My main reasoning being that I can't have nice things.
February 22nd, 2014 at 2:23 PM ^
At the end of the game, we had...
Wisconsin eFG% - 53.97%
Iowa eFG% - 51.56%
Wisconsin OREB% - 37.14%
Iowa OREB% - 33.33%
Wisconsin FTR - 20.63%
Iowa FTR - 14.06%
Wisconsin A/T Ratio - 1.67
Iowa A/T Ratio - 2.71

God I hate Louisville.

Kaminsky is coming on like gangbusters for Wisconsin. Good - I hope he goes pro.
February 22nd, 2014 at 2:45 PM ^
but he's nowhere to be found on Draft Express' top 100.
February 22nd, 2014 at 2:53 PM ^
Hah, no. He's not a draft prospect. Not very athletic, not very consistent, not anything special defensively. Being 6'11 might get him into summer league when he graduates, but that's about it.
February 22nd, 2014 at 3:03 PM ^
I agree that he isn't an early entry candidate, but he has a shot to play in the NBA. Poor man's Kelly Olynyk; Robert Horry like stretch four off the bench.
If I know one thing about the NBA (and I don't know many things), it's that they will take role players are usually guys who have one elite skill. 6'11, mistmatch Euro power forward isn't a bad way to spend a roster spot.
I wouldn't bet on him being a first round pick, but I could see him going second round and sticking around a little while.
February 22nd, 2014 at 3:25 PM ^
Well he doesn't really have any elite skills - he's a 34% career 3pt shooter. If he continues his improvement next year, I agree, he might get a 2nd round flier, but right now he's not there. I'm not sure I see any way he can impact the NBA besides 3 point shooting as a big.

Career numbers don't really matter in college, because players are expected to develop. The stats from your last season are what really count, and he's shooting 41% from downtown this year.

A Poor Man's Kelly Olynyk, aka A Broke Motherfucker's Ryan Anderson
February 22nd, 2014 at 4:08 PM ^
He's tall, he's got a good post game, and he can shoot from the perimeter. That's a lot right there. He didn't play much before this season, so it's not surprising if he was off the radar, but DraftExpress calls him the #28 junior in the country, which may not be that high but that rating could be old. He's scored 17, 25 and 21 points his last three games. If he can keep on producing like that, he'll climb the boards.
February 22nd, 2014 at 5:34 PM ^
You're basing that totally off of a 3 game sample. He's not actually this good, we're just biased because we watched the game last Sunday.
Before this past week, he hadn't scored more than 16 points in a game since November. He has 6 conference games of under 10 points. Us and Northwestern were the only conference games in which he's had 10 rebounds, and he's 7 feet tall.
He's really not a serious NBA prospect.
February 22nd, 2014 at 6:35 PM ^
Be that as it may, he's still 7 feet tall and can score inside or on the perimeter. Guys who can do that are valuable. As McGary showed last year, you don't have to put up big numbers all year, just show your potential at the right time.

There are a lot of BIG TENNN fans down here!
(Can someone put this in their cool story box for me?)

Wisconsin always develops 2 and 3 star players into good B1G talent. Their football and basketball programs are 'nuisances', but they get the job done.
