That's supposed to be a joint holiday, and yet somehow I end up flipping the bill for everything.
So I made reservations at a place that also happens to have 30 rotating drafts, I can't wait to see what they have.
February 14th, 2014 at 10:32 AM ^
Is flipping a bill different than footing a bill?
February 14th, 2014 at 10:38 AM ^
Generally the bill comes face down, so when you grab it you flip it over to see what the damage is. Is "flip" not acceptable? I've heard it used before.
February 14th, 2014 at 10:42 AM ^
I'd always heard foot the bill. Have no idea where "foot" comes from. Flip makes more sense. I just hadn't heard it before.
February 14th, 2014 at 2:42 PM ^
it's called foot the bill in europe, because it is a game where you kick the bill with your foot.
February 14th, 2014 at 10:40 AM ^
Flipping the bill = Dine and Dash!
Step 1: Get handed the bill
Step 2: Flip that bill over
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit by walking out on that bill.
February 14th, 2014 at 10:43 AM ^
"profit by being a total loser."
February 14th, 2014 at 10:45 AM ^
Oh come on. Just joking around buddy. I am much too big of a wuss to ever dine and dash. Plus that shit comes out of the waiter/waitresses pocket. It is a dick move, and I don't condone that action.
February 14th, 2014 at 10:51 AM ^
Isn't it illegal to make wait staff pay for customers who skip out on the bill? Not that some places don't still do it, but I thought that they technically weren't allowed to.
There was a bit of a hoopla online (Reddit and Gothamist, mostly) a while ago about a waitress who got fired from a Times Square pub when some businessmen ditched on their bill.
February 14th, 2014 at 2:31 PM ^
Good to know you wouldn't actually DO it, but unfortunately that kind of humor encourages some morons. Apologies if my sarc detector needs calibration.
BTW, I'm not the one who negged you.
February 14th, 2014 at 1:57 PM ^
wow didnt know that. i would be nervous if some ordered a lot and i was the waiter
February 14th, 2014 at 10:51 AM ^
Ok I need to clear up the origin of the Step 1, etc., profit thing. Is that originally from the South Park episode with Tweek and the underpants gnomes, or was that episode just mocking whatever that is actually from? I just saw the episode again the other day, and I was wondering if that was a South Park original.
February 14th, 2014 at 10:54 AM ^
As far as I know.
Tweek you need to calm down, here, drink some coffee.
February 14th, 2014 at 11:12 AM ^
I was mostly just curious because I didn't think a South Park episode would be such a popular reference on here. I guess I mistakenly thought most of you were more mature than you are. My bad.
We do still need somebody to run this Harbucks. I'm sure it will make a lot of money.
Oh no I think we'll be fine with the money we make selling our son into slavery
February 14th, 2014 at 12:25 PM ^
Re: more mature
South Park is one of the smartest satires on TV today. Sure, it comes with sophomoric jokes, but it is still witty and insightful.
February 14th, 2014 at 12:37 PM ^
Obviously I watch and enjoy South Park myself, and I agree that it is actually insightful as a satire, but I just don't see it as something that adults generally watch. Just joking in an attempt to get through Friday a little faster.
February 14th, 2014 at 3:16 PM ^
But it is one of if not the smartest show on TV. The fact that they filter it through 4th grade humor is what makes it hilarious

Your Valentine's Day dinner includes a maitre d', nice tablecloth, roped-off dining, and a candle on your table. Unfortunately, the food is exactly the same….
February 14th, 2014 at 10:53 AM ^
what about the post-white castle diarrhea? same for valentine's day?
February 14th, 2014 at 11:13 AM ^
Since the food is the same, I would have to say yes...

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER THAT IN POSBANGS, SELF-BANGING IS NOT ONLY ACCEPTABLE, BUT ENCOURAGED.
This has been voted on. The people have spoken. Thank you for your time.
This has been a friendly reminder, brought to you by the letter DRUNK.

I'm Chuckiewoodson and I approve this gif.

Its a sad sad state of affairs at the old MGoBoard that we all have had to take to Self-Banging...........particularly on Valentines Day.
February 14th, 2014 at 11:07 AM ^
Have you seen the profile of this board?
I'm surprised we even know what Valentine's Day is.
February 14th, 2014 at 1:02 PM ^
that made me burst out laughing in my office, prompting a member of my staff to ask WTH was so funny. Then I had to lie b/c it's not appropriate to show to a female subordinate.
Thanks for the laugh though.

better be getting SOMETHING out of this deal! And by SOMETHING, I of course mean upvotes.

Think I may hit up the Jolly Pumpkin tonight. Hoping there won't be too many love birds taking up all the tables.
February 14th, 2014 at 10:41 AM ^
Jolly Pumpkin is the shit. Good gluten free beer and bread for sandwiches.
February 14th, 2014 at 10:43 AM ^
You can make beer sandwiches?!
Man, my leftover lentil stir fry lunch just got a whole lot less exciting.
February 14th, 2014 at 3:15 PM ^
You're doing it wrong.
February 14th, 2014 at 11:23 AM ^
As in 'tastes like real beer' or as in 'compared to other gluten free beers'?
I feel bad for those who really have Celiac Disease and can't digest gluten. Then there are people who just think gluten is bad when there is absolutely no evidence for such claims.

IT NEEDS GLUTEN! I don't know what gluten is, but apparently, it's DELICIOUS!" - John Pinette

I also enjoy Fridays, alcohol, and amusing GIFs. Happy weekend everyone. I will be making a sacrifice to Perry the ACLephant to hopefully stem the tide of injuries to various knees attached to the bodies of important football players.

I commend you.

so I'll be drinking wine, or whatever my wife wants to drink. Beer during the game Sunday though. Thankfully, the wife is out of the house all day Sunday so I can watch the game in peace.
I also have to go for a 6 miler in preparation for the half marathon I'm training for...so, yeah.
February 14th, 2014 at 12:52 PM ^
The "white death" has been wreched this year for marathon training. Not looking forward to my spring marathon in Roanoke, VA...

The finish is the 50 yd line in their football stadium. It's actually pretty cool, well run race and its a nice and flat course. Perfect for a PR.

Can't imagine any place flatter. But the wind... Damn, it can get windy there!
February 14th, 2014 at 5:04 PM ^
I'm prepping for the music city marathon in Nashville. It's in April but this weather will not cooperate!
