Late afternoon/evening games Open Thread
Couple of afternoon games are still finishing up and then two of our rivals play what should be interesting games this evening. In Knoxville, Tennessee has just tied Georgia 24-24 in the 4th. And Okie St. just jumped back in front of Kansas St by 1 late in the game.

The Lions should hire NW special teams coach - he fits.

neat as a team and looking totally, unselfconsciously stupid. I'd say that Notre Dame crosses that line and heads for Theater of the Absurd tonight.

Yup. It's pathetic really.

Why? NU has 8000 undergraduates (not all of whom buy tickets), a small alumni base, and a tradition for Chicago's away-team alums to pencil it in as a game to go to. OSU fans probably bought those tickets as soon as they went on sale, just like our fans did. even with the NU dynamic pricing markup.
And, really, I don't think anyone saw a #4/#16 matchup coming for this one. At the end of the day, this is par for the course at Ryan Field when a team like OSU or Michigan comes to town.

I still feel Ohio will win this game. They will pull this one out of their ass.

Baylor got 617 total offense in the FIRST half against WVU. Only one drive that didn't end with a point and the rest, they scored TDs. Ridiculous.....

HAHAHAHA pick six for ASU

Correct. You can already tell that NW's momentum is gone. You can feel the crowd's being calmer now. It just reeks of another Ohio win.
October 5th, 2013 at 10:30 PM ^
NW needs to put together a drive and put up 6 points. These field goal ending drives they put together are going to bite them in the ass unless they can score some tuds. I know this isn't exactly earth shattering opinion but Ohio is gearing up to come back in a major way.
October 5th, 2013 at 10:31 PM ^
Why are people rooting so hard for ASU? Doesn't that make Michigan look worse?
October 5th, 2013 at 10:33 PM ^
To hell with Notre Dame!
October 5th, 2013 at 10:34 PM ^
A 5-7 ND would be fun. Unless UM goes 12-0, strength of schedule won't matter one iota so let them burn.

No way Northwestern holds this lead. They'll blow it.

Why has everyone given up on NW on this thread? Yes they havent gotten 7 on each drive but they are driving almost at will. This game is going down to the last drive one way or the other. Entertaining -can't ask for more.
October 5th, 2013 at 10:37 PM ^
Because they're Northwestern and known for blowing leads?

October 5th, 2013 at 10:37 PM ^
I'm not. OSU really hasn't shown much ability to stop them, so I think they still have a shot. The problem is they can't stop the OSU running game.

Because it's what the buckeyes do. I know M had two close wins this season, but Ohio seems to have these every fucking year and more than every team. It's just so annoying to hear the media talk about how good they are and this and that when they have won so many games they should have lost. A lot of their wins are a result of completely idiotic play calling from their opponents.

Herbstreit is starting to get super homeriffic with his commentating.

NW was ranked #3 that year? I didn't remember that part.

I remember them being #3 but they lost an early game to Miami (NTM), so they were effectively barred from the MNC conversation. They were pretty good, honestly.
October 5th, 2013 at 10:38 PM ^
Not sure why the NW gunner chose to catch a punt landing on the ten... That's exactly where you want it to land and bounce.
October 5th, 2013 at 10:38 PM ^
Is it me or have Ohio defenders gotten away with multiple facemask/horsecollar penalties? It sure looked like Simian's helmet was grabbed on that sack.

Who is calling for the review on this? It's not even close.

Joey Bosa is looking pretty good in this NW/OSU game. I wonder why it seems to take our young guys so long to develop. Why can't Charlton be making an impact like that or Pipkins for that matter as a sophomore?
