Scouting Report: Kalen Ballage
This week's scouting report is on Peyton (CO) Falcon athlete Kalen Ballage, who plays a bunch of positions for his high school team (RB, WR, LB, S, PR) but projects best to running back at the next level, in my opinion.

With a last name of "Ballage," he's a must. Just to hear Beckman say "Ballage" ten times per broadcast.
The all-time name team has to be '96: Steele, Irons, Sword, Swett, Payne, Gold
you have listed could bring the wood...HARD!!!
"YOUR A BALLAGE"
If Ballage gets here, I don't think it will be Beckmann who will be saying his name.
I'm really hoping, for his sake, that his last name rhymes with "barrage," because if he takes over a game, you could say it was a "Barrage of Ballage."
I think that'd be neat.
with speed to burn. Would be a great addition to this recuriting class. Good report, magnus.
I generally scroll through the positions, so I hit a different position each week. Obviously, they have to have film available. And then I usually try to pick the one with the most interest in Michigan (who hasn't been profiled yet), since I want the reports to be relevant for Michigan fans.
He was the first player that came to mind after reading your analysis. He has good speed and size, but while he plays several positions he doesn't sound like an ideal fit for any of them.
I think Furman is a good comparison, perhaps better than mine. I think Ballage is a more natural runner, though.
I enjoy your reports. Thanks for the all the work. I'd love to see one on Darrion Owens. Do you think that is possible this summer?
That might be possible. The linebacker pool is thinning, and I've already done a report on Chase Winovich, so chances are good as long as he stays on the board.
I've heard his name pop up here and there for a little bit now. I know he has an offer but is the staff recruiting him hard or his he kind of a back up plan if someone else doesn't work out? Seems to be a very good athlete that could maybe play multiple positions and add depth to a thinner group.
I don't think he's a backup plan. I don't know if he's #1 on their priority list, but I believe the coaches want him to be a part of this class.
I'm a little confused by the film...it was posted Sept. 12th (early in the season) and seems to include a lot of scrimmage highlights. Maybe they play in a smalltown area with strange league rules.
Ballage looks like a good athlete with lots of work to do to understand the nuances of the RB position. He doesn't look like much of a blocker, and doesn't seem to know how to find the hole. But he's pretty strong and he's real fast.
If he is added to the '14 class, I see a definite redshirt and a guy who probably wouldn't start until his junior year.
Then again, I really don't know what I'm talking about.
Yeah, there were definitely some scrimmage highlights in there. I basically skipped past all of those. You can't learn much when they're not even wearing full pads.
I have a feeling this is an alternate account for His Dudeness and/or Mr. Rager...
Although I am really REALLY bored waiting for 5PM, I am not bored enough to make another account just to make fun of your scouting chops.
I would never do that to you.
To answer the question so awesomely brought up by the new user; he has none. He does have a blog where he looks at all youtube clips he can find of a kid (and only watches the ones where they are wearing pads) and writes up "scouting reports" on his blog about the high school football players. He then comes on to this blog and tells people to go to his blog to look at the write ups. He also keeps track of offers that go out, most likely by looking at Rivals or Scout offer tracking.
I wasn't impressed with his highlights but they're just highlights, right?
He doesn't look at all like an H-back to me.
