Michigan vs. Indiana Basketball Open Thread

It's more in the manner that it happened. Cold shooting and BS refs cost us this game.

These things happen. It's why no one has gone undefeated in so long.

that was a choke job if there was ever one.
but i still think a loss here will serve mi better in the long run...
need to step up ...go blue!

I was hoping to win 2 of four. Hopefully, we can get 2/3 now. I think we can.

Missed so many 3s and so many open shots. Dissapointing in the paint. There has to be something better to do on a Saturday night.

Michigan fouls less than any team in the country....until they go to Indiana..

McGary is the only one who came to play tonight.

IU has executed much better offensively than Michigan. When you play this inefficiently on the road, you're only asking for trouble. The refs have been what you expect in a game like this. They're not the reason why Stauskas is 0-fer from 3 or why GR3 has been a no-show. Have a little class and acknowledge that we were not the better team tonight.

Welp you can't go 4 minutes without scoring twice and expect to win against good teams, especially on the road.
February 2nd, 2013 at 11:03 PM ^
Burke played like crap too. Sure, he scored a lot, but he frequently destroyed any offensive rhythm, tried to do it all himself, and as a result, shot under 40%.

We have a lot of games ahead of us. Big ten championship is still ours! We have the skill to win it all.

We had no offensive flow in the Ohio game or this game...fucking awful

People blaming the refs are not watching the same game. Outside of a couple of guys, it was one on one basketball. There has been absolutely no consistent flow on offense. I will say, though, that Indiana was damn good whether it be one on one or distributing the ball. They did whatever they wanted to do to Michigan. This loss sucks, but these next few games are brutal.

Not Just A Shooter
February 2nd, 2013 at 11:03 PM ^
Holy shit, we lose any semblance of an organized offense when somebody actually plays defense on us. This really needs some work.
February 2nd, 2013 at 11:07 PM ^
So only two teams all year have played D on us? Come on.
We played in a hostile environment and lost our composure at times. Don't over-analyze it.
February 2nd, 2013 at 11:04 PM ^
THJ and McGary are the only players who play efficiently on the road. Burke tries to be the hero and the starting freshmen disappear.

You know that kind of shit is going to happen in the road. Foul calls were relatively balanced (we were in the bonus during a meaningful part of the 2nd half). If the best we can argue is that we should have been down 3 instead of 7, well....ok. How does it explain the fact that we executed like dog crap on offense? Or couldn't box out Zeller? If we had lost on a last second shot or something, then I think you could make more of an argument about the refs. But realistically, we were not winning against this team on this night in this building. On to OSU.

Not true. In the second half, IU took its first bonus freethrow with 10:48 left; Michigan didn't reach the stripe in the bonus until there were 4:53 left.

They r too young and the road is to tough

WTF have some of you been watching? I mean that in a respectful manner becasue I really like your posts but the REFEREES have been very good tonight.
All in all, we lost because a really good team beat us. Oh well. Well come back and beat a good OSU team Tuesday night and hopefully beat this Indiana team in our own place. Was a fun game to watch but stop ya bitchin' abount inane things. Just didn't happen tonight.

ESPN Michigan-Indiana game. That's what I watched. A bad and-one call was the difference tonight?? No. I agree that that call wasn't a good one. Foul? Jump ball? I don't know but I agree it shouldn't have been an and-one. However, give me a few more calls than that, that gave the discrepency between the two teams tonight. We played well. They played a few points better.
Teddy V. gave some Michigan calls tonight too, as did the other referee. Get your blame game off the officials. I was honestly, myself, expecting a lopsided game in terms of officiating but it didn't happen; they did well. Two bad calls doesn't equate to a loss blamed on refs.
