ESPN150/300 updated
Biggest move for Michigan is that Jake Butt moves up to #171 (was #234 before) and Shane moves up slightly to #26 from #32. The rest of the commits fluctuated slightly based on others moving up or down.
When your job is covering tall receivers, size is kind of a big deal. Pun inteneded.
Yes, except there are quite a few CBs the same height as Lewis that are ranked higher than he is, and by most accounts he was quite impressive covering big WRs at The Opening.
Then again, he's still a 4 star in the top 100 players in the country... I'd consider that pretty damn good, and probably appropriate.
True. And there's a lot of very good CBs out there this year. Kind of the same thing that's holding Shane's ranking down. Lot of really good QBs this year too.
Remember these are projections in part on NFL potential. Lewis right now is on the small side of small at 5'10 159. And ESPN has Alexander at 5'11 175
Or maybe they just think that 91 players in the country are better.
If this were the NFL Draft, he'd basically be a third round pick. Can you really be upset about him grading out as a 3rd rounder?
If Michigan had an entire team of 3rd round talent they would crush everyone no problem.
think shane is still underated, but honestly even if he is only the 4th best qb int he country. the leadership qualites he has shown make him prolly the most important recruit we have had in a long time. kid has a chance to get a real personality cult around him.
From what I've seen of the other QBs, I think his positional ranking is correct. Browne is really good and has fantastic touch on the ball. Hackenberg is also very good. The only one I could see him jumping is Ryan Burns whom he outplayed at the Columbus Elite 11 camp. Shane struggles with consistency and accuracy more than the other QBs ranked above him. But you can fix that. You can't teach his leadership skills and arm strength though, and as a fan, I'm happy to have him. Think he has a very high ceiling.
And Shane is very accurate at throwing to Tacopants. They are both very good junior QBs. Michigan and Penn State are both getting talented players.
Tacopants doesn't play defense. Everybody knows that.
he was trying to cover up a triple post by referencing Taco Charlton...
but no, it didn't work
"has significant physical upside to add bulk and strength and likely an inch; is not as tall as listed height yet."
LOL didn't know scouting evaluations were projecting future height.
What is the point of having two separate lists?
Hey! Here is a list that has the 150 players in the country in it.
Hey! Here is another list that is even better because it has those same top 150 players in it, plus the next best 150 players.
The same reason every top-10 list on the internet is on 10 pages. Clicks.
A link on each page, culminating with a non-content related slide with a link for me to meet a scuba-diving michigan grad who likes photography and microbrews, Do people actually click these?
Say there is a PSU recruit exodous as a result of this report who could we use??
Webb and Brenaman (sp?)?
We generally try to avoid speculating gleefully about the football upside in this whole thing. There will probably be long-term fallout, but the situation calls for tact.
Nothing about my post was gleeful. These recruits are in a awful situation. If I were in their shoes I would be gone now, heck I wouldn't have committed to go to PSU in the first place. 99% of the population could see this report from a mile away. Now that it is here they have a decision to make. We have 2 spots left and I don't really think any of these guys, minus the Breneman kid and Webb, we could even consider.
im probably missing something here, but... i dont think anything has changed today coming out of the freeh report from the perspective of the psu recruits. the story had broken with enough details before most of them had committed that they had to know something like this report would/could be coming down the pipeline. the ncaa is not going to react quickly on this, particuarly since things are still playing out in the courts.
wouldnt expect any of those kids decomitting over this report, or they probably wouldnt have commited in the first place knowing what they knew.
I just wanted to nip it in the bud. That conversation invariably leads to someone saying "this scandal could be really good for us," so I figured I'd try to end it there.
Tyrone Swoopes goes from #22 to #100. Ouch.
Double whammy from ESPN there. Not only are we moving you down 78 spots, we also think QB might not be the best spot for you. Ouch.
You guys see on there Eddie Vanderdoes to USC today?
their recruiting is nuts right now. Couldn't happen to nicer guys! lol
how to delete!?!
Hargreaves named USC as his leader too.
Yeah, I thought they might flip-flop those two after The Opening and camp season. Or at least move them closer together. But they both dropped 6 spots. Odd. Maybe after the Elite 11, we'll see some things change.
Does anyone know if they have "The Opening" type event for LS's? I can't believe he's not in the ESPN top 300 yet!
Texas State is really cleaning up! They have 4* WR Brice Gunter committed at #177!! That is 1 spot ahead of MSU's top player Shane Jones at #178. So yes, Texas State is out recruiting Dantonio! But its a marathon not a sprint and Texas State's Coach is probably paying him.
The ESPN 150/300 is purely Earth-based, so it's probably unfair to compare Dantonio in this context.
Wow. Just one Dual Threat QB in their Top 150, and it's a white kid who'll be playing at Northwestern.
Quarterbacks who can run are so yesterday.
Tell that to Borges and Hoke. The first QB they recruited at Michigan is a dual-threat guy.
Oh, okay, thanks.
