The Blockhams in "HOPELESS ROMANTIC"
HOPELESS ROMANTIC
As mentioned two days ago, I was recently defeated by the stomach virus
and ordered by my doctor to cease all drawing of cartoon Michigan families
until I could stand the smell of cooked food. As such, I opted to run
Tuesday's feature Blockhams strip today, and that's what brings us to this...

There's something about a big victory that brings the charm out of a Blockham man... and with three kids named Thomas, Chalmers and Desmond, matriarch Donna has seen it before and knows it all too well. Call it the heat of the moment, the rush of unbridled happiness, or something far less eloquent... but for a Michigan Man like Tom, there's something about a big win that calls for, well, another big win.
THE BLOCKHAMS™ runs (typically) every Tuesday here at MGoBlog, and at least
every Thursday on its official home page. Also, don't forget to check out our newest
feature, Friday Roughs, a spontaneous low-end comic based on trending
Michigan events, available on Twitter and Facebook every Friday.
Follow THE BLOCKHAMS™ on Twitter at @theblockhams, and don't forget to
LIKE THE BLOCKHAMS™ on Facebook at www.facebook.com/theblockhams.
Its a good thing my wife doesnt read this blog or you would be ruining any chance I have to sneak one of those names in lol.
My wife went to OSU. I ALMOST named our dog Bo until my father-in-law caught wind of it. The dog was not named Bo.
So she wears the pants?
Strangely enough, it seems she gets those pants hand-me-down from her father.
My wife grew up as a Flordia State Fan, but she was converted. We named our dog Bo. She wouldn't let me name our first born Zoltan though...
I have a little one due in September. I've already won the name Evan - if its a boy.
[Edit] No one in my family knows so shhhhh
I think you should go with Smotrycz... as the first name.
That was totally the joke in the last frame.... but with the exception of outgoing players I've tried to refrain from using last names of current players.
you di'nt
It's true, after big wins I'm known to be 85% more charming
This is essentially the story behind why I am here.
We're about to have twins(boy and a girl) and "Stu" is the leading contender for boy names.
Brian opted out of the radio because he's got the bug going around too...it's an MGoDemic!
I can't get sick just by reading the site, can I? Or maybe after this strip, pregnant?
I think you are really hitting your stride with these strips. The tiny little twinkle in both Tom and Glenn's eyes is a nice touch.
It would be strange NOT to have a twinkle in your eye after waiting decades for something like this. I can identify Tom's feelings of elation at that moment and....well, the other feeling.
I will say, we sadly missed the boat on Michigan-themed names for both kids. My wife, not being a sports person, wouldn't even entertain the notion, although I did keep trying. It is comforting that the Blockhams have succeeded in this regard even if some of us have failed.
Once again, awesome work, Six Zero.
My husband and I have been debating various Michigan-themed names for our non-existant dogs and children for years. As long as he doesn't vote to name a human Fielding, I'm good to go.
Great Job Six Zero. I look forward to these every week. It's like having a synicated polical cartoon on my favorite blog.
I'm a hopeless romantic, you're just hopeless
Tripp after Wellbourne. My wife not being a fan, wondering what I had been drinking asked me what kinda name (Tripp) is that?. I was saying isnt it different honey? she says yeah, its different alright. So different there isnt a chance in hell that is happening. My sons name is Sean, now everyone says isn't everone named Sean? So I can't win for losing.
