ESPN Top 100 2013 Rankings Out
Tom VanHaaren @TomVH
The ESPNU Top 100 has been released....QB Shane Morris is a five-star, DB Dymonte Thomas a four-star: http://es.pn/yrjSll
Not an insider on ESPN but TomVH also mentions that there are a plethora of Michigan targets on the list

damnit was just going to hit post and refreshed to double check I was first...I wasn't
But Shane is one of only 3 5 Star QBs
February 1st, 2012 at 4:32 PM ^
Interesting since I don't think ESPN has any 5 star QBs in the 2012 class.
February 1st, 2012 at 5:05 PM ^
You are right, they only gave out 11 5 stars this year.

I thought Sonic was supposed to be the fastest thing alive

Our 2013 class is off to an even better start than our 2012 one.
February 1st, 2012 at 4:23 PM ^
Is it a surprise Logan isn't on this list with that offer sheet he has already?
February 1st, 2012 at 4:25 PM ^
It is great to have Shane in the fold so early. Knowing that he has been in the ears of so many top recruits about coming to play with him in AA is great. Hoping to land a couple of big time recievers to go with him in the 2013 class. Although I can't wait to get this kid in a winged helmet, there isn't another player in college I would want keeping his spot then DRob. Go Blue!

damn espn insider. i hate not having money
February 1st, 2012 at 4:30 PM ^
It was on discountmags. I used the coupon code MAGS. I just checked and its 13.49 a year which is really high. Keep an eye on slickdeals.net, people post deals on here too.
February 1st, 2012 at 4:26 PM ^
of note on the list?
February 1st, 2012 at 4:29 PM ^
But in all seriousness, it is littered with UM prospects. (both offerees and serious interest)
Give it a day or two to let NSD settle down and i'm sure Magnus will have it broken down for you.

I am particularly interested in Taco Carlton as he seems like a kid who could drop for Michigan at any moment - perhahps on his upcoming unofficial visit. I get the sense he will be a low 4-star/ high 3-star type. Probably bigger fish out there, but you can't quantify the fact that he's a kid from a Ohio that desperately wants to go to Michigan. That always counts for something in my book.
February 1st, 2012 at 4:36 PM ^
No Taco on ESPN's list
February 1st, 2012 at 4:35 PM ^
Kendall Fuller - 5 Star
Ethan Pocic - 5 Star
Kyle Bosch - 4 Star
Laremy Tunsil - 5 Star
Cameron Dillard - 4 Star
Robert Foster - 4 Star
Ty Isaac - 4 Star
EJ Levenberry - 4 Star
Dorian O'Daniel - 4 Star
Henry Poggi - 4 Star
Jaylon Smith - 4 Star
Chris Fox - 4 Star

ESPN made Morris a 5 star because he committed to the UA game. So don't expect Rivals to give him 5 stars.
February 1st, 2012 at 4:39 PM ^
or it could be that he is just really good.
February 1st, 2012 at 5:08 PM ^
He is really good, but as dumb as it sounds this is the politics of recruiting now.
February 1st, 2012 at 4:34 PM ^
Anyone know the story with Steve Elmer? In state recruit has already committed to Notre Dame?
February 1st, 2012 at 4:37 PM ^
I believe he was at the UTL game along with all of the other recruits and found himself pulling for the Irish over the course of the game. I guess he figured if he was pulling for ND in that enivronment then that is where he needs to go.
February 1st, 2012 at 4:36 PM ^
Honestly I expected ESPN to rate Shane Morris a 3 star.
February 1st, 2012 at 4:37 PM ^
Quizztavious Flufferberry! 6'2'' 215 pound LB from Alpharetta, GA.
February 1st, 2012 at 5:46 PM ^
That is a made-up name.
February 1st, 2012 at 6:05 PM ^
overboard with the last name.
February 1st, 2012 at 4:37 PM ^
ESPN is the last place I would willingly put my money in. I'll stick with Rivals....don't need to support the SEC more than ESPN already does
February 1st, 2012 at 6:09 PM ^
I don't like supporting ESPN, but being fair - doesn't Rivals lack a midwest recruiting analyst?
February 1st, 2012 at 8:54 PM ^
February 1st, 2012 at 4:41 PM ^
I wonder if him already committing to UA game has anything to do with this.... Not that I don't think Morris is a phenomenal looking prospect and deserving of a 5th star
February 1st, 2012 at 5:08 PM ^
Nice to see we already have two quality 2013 recruits.
OT: I subscribe to ESPN the Mag, does that mean I get free insider access on ESPN.com?
February 1st, 2012 at 5:12 PM ^
yeah isn't that the only reason anyone would subscribe to the mag? I don't think I've read a single issue of my 2 year for $4 bucks subscription
February 1st, 2012 at 5:08 PM ^
Look at this kid out of Detroit, why isnt Michigan recruiting him?
February 1st, 2012 at 5:33 PM ^
Do you know that they aren't? He doesn't have an offer, but there are a lot of 2013 guys that M is recruiting but haven't offered yet.
Also, it might depend on what position he plays. We might not need another sub-5'9" RB, and if we do I'd guess Berkley Edwards has the upper leg at this point. But if Stinson can play CB, who knows.
February 1st, 2012 at 5:20 PM ^
I count 26 5-star players on the list, including 5 QBs. There are only 11 total 5-stars on ESPN this year, none of whom are QBs. Therefore, either ESPN is very bullish on the class of 2013, or these players should be considered only the likely pool from which the 5-stars will be drawn.
February 1st, 2012 at 5:45 PM ^
where's Logan Tuley-Tillman? all the good stuff i here about him, you'd think he'd be in there...
February 1st, 2012 at 6:08 PM ^
Let me start off by saying that I think very highly of LTT, but what do I know.
I think 247 was very bullish when the came out and rated him the #38(??) prospect in the nation. I think it was based on all the interest he was getting from top schools (UM, ND, ohio, Bama, etc.).
Since then they have dropped him down to #84 in the nation, which is still very good.
My guess is that ESPN hasn't watched tape on him or don't know enough about him. It is ESPN after all.
February 1st, 2012 at 6:11 PM ^
We'll see, but a kid with early offers from that group should certainly be a top-100 recruit. Hell, a kid with thos offers in December should be top-100. And it sounds like USC will be throwing their name into the hat with him soon, and with their recent OL haul and limited spots, that will mean a lot.
February 1st, 2012 at 6:18 PM ^
I put more stock into offers than stars given out by recruiting services. It just so happens that better offer sheets usually mean more stars.
I just think this is a classic example of ESPN not actually doing their job in scouting a kid. It is obvious that coaches that get paid lots of money have identified LTT to be a blue chip prospect.

Stinson should be ranked the 2nd best db in the psl next year. the kid will have enough offers. played on the same little league team with jayru campbell. also the same team DG played on.
