2014 kid looks like Mallett a little.
January 25th, 2012 at 5:19 PM ^
Notice in the comments Tom mentions doctors thinking the 2015 kid will grow to 6'7".
January 25th, 2012 at 5:32 PM ^
All those kids are elite. Already got Shane in hand. Next up, the chance kid. He looks good. 6'6" as a sophomore!
January 25th, 2012 at 5:31 PM ^
Yes he's 2015 (you know you're too into recruiting when) but I really hope we keep that Cass Tech pipeline going and get this kid, looks like he has a nice arm and can move in the pocket well too

I can't think of anyone who's thrown for 5 td's against CC before, much less on that stage. matt baker started for a few years at UNC and Im not sure he had 5 td passes against us in his whole career.

It's a stretch that we can get all of them but Chance Stewart looks like the real deal.
January 25th, 2012 at 5:57 PM ^
The Stewart kid reminds me of Mallet. Just not in the arrogant way.
January 25th, 2012 at 5:59 PM ^
A really good shot at landing Stewart.
January 25th, 2012 at 6:11 PM ^
I know your an insider so do you care to share or is it just kind of an opinion right now?
January 25th, 2012 at 7:54 PM ^
Right now. With him living in Michigan and with UM switching back to the pro-style offense, I think that that is very attractive to him.
January 25th, 2012 at 8:33 PM ^
No highly recruited QB is gonna want to go into a situation where he has to sit behind a guy (Shane) for 3 years.
January 25th, 2012 at 11:33 PM ^
I highly doubt Shane Morris red-shirts.
January 25th, 2012 at 6:13 PM ^
Based on what? Not trying to call you out, but just curious about the details.

so he will be a bust?
January 25th, 2012 at 6:31 PM ^
If someone told me Chance was Mallet's little brother, i'd believe them. He looks real polished already and he has another year in school still to go too, he's going to be a hot recruit.
January 25th, 2012 at 6:52 PM ^
Just nitpicking, but he actually has two years left. He will be a junior next year.
January 25th, 2012 at 6:56 PM ^
I saw Campbell in person against my school Renaissance. The weather was cold and rainy, so Cass didn't try to do much offensively, but Jayru definitely has a great arm.
January 25th, 2012 at 6:59 PM ^
I'm glad that Stewart doesn't sound like Mallett. It's rough listening to him talk.
January 25th, 2012 at 7:41 PM ^
If they're truly elite (which I think they are...) I had to be negative, but doubt we get all 3.
I'd love to get them all, but Chance is only a year behind Morris, he's going to know if he thinks he can beat out Morris or not. If he's elite, I doubt he "follows" Morris to Michigan feeling like he's only going to get a starting nod as a RS Senior year. Maybe RS Junior year should Morris leave early. Yes, you're only an injury away, but do 17 year olds think like that?
As for Campbell, I'd feel more confident with him, but is he going to be interested in us and will we be interested in him? I only ask if we'll be interested in him because I don't know if he's more of a dual threat QB...if not, absolutely we will.
However, truth is. And really think about it. Who was the last Cass Tech kid that we got that REALLY made a 5* impact at Michigan? We get a lot of players from them, but who is the last one to pan out? Even look at Dior Mathis and guys that didn't go to Michigan. I'd argue that Thomas Gordon, a 2 star kid from there has been better than Cissoko, Will Campbell, and Teric Jones.
So if I had to guess, I'd say Morris and Campbell + a 4-star pocket passer in the 2015 class. But no matter what, I hope they're ALL elite level QBs. To have that come out of the state of Michigan would say A LOT for the brand of HS football.
*comes back from daydream about the future and focuses on Reeves, Garnett, Diamond, Kozan and Grant*

All I saw Campbell doing in this video was passing drills. Are you assuming he is a dual threat because he has dreads or something?
January 25th, 2012 at 8:32 PM ^
Denard has made it hard to not think of dreads everytime there is a mention of a dual threat QB.
January 25th, 2012 at 8:59 PM ^
I went to the Ike-Cass Tech playoff game and let me tell you that he is for sure dual threat... I hated that game because it was my high school against kids going to my favorite college team. Couldn't help but be intrigued.
January 26th, 2012 at 9:35 AM ^
Are you trying to say that I assumed because he's African American and has a certain hairstyle that he can run and is a dual threat?
Haha, no...
#1 - I've seen the kid play with my own eyes
#2 - If that was your assumption, I find it hilarious because he doesn't have dreads. If we want to get all PC and if you indeed were trying to imply there was ignorance in my post...clearly you don't know what you're talking about. Campbell's hair is just braided, some may even call it cornrowed...but those aren't dreadlocks.
P.S. and it wasn't me who negged you

Campbell He's got the size to be a mcnabb type west coast passer

"White running back? He's GRITTY, reminds me of MIKE ALSTOTT"
January 26th, 2012 at 3:01 AM ^
He's the read deal at QB, playing for a smaller - non-powerhouse - class B school. Once he graduates, we'll go back to fielding mediocre teams like we always have. You knew watching him in 6th grade rocket football that the kid would play "big time" college ball. He had IT, even back then.
Great arm, whole field vision, QB smarts and confidence. He knows he's good, but you want that cockiness in a QB. Though they look similar, he's not as arrogant as Mallet.
Loves Michigan, but has to make a decision between wearing the Winged Helmet and waiting your turn, or picking another D1 school and getting extra YEARS of playing time. Kid is a competitor and won't back down from Morris, so no worries there - but he has to know he won't start at Michigan as a freshman, and he's never NOT started at ANYTHING he has ever played (including Varsity basketball and baseball as a Freshman).
Starting Varsity QB as a freshman and almost got a bad team into the playoffs that year. Last year he got them in, but not far. Can't say that outcome will change much over the next two years with the kids that are coming up with him. If he were at a powerhouse football school with a good back and at least one receiver over 6' with good hands and wheels, he would be putting up SICK numbers. Happy to see him getting the recognition he deserves.
He will be a big time QB in college, and will play on Sundays if he can stay healthy.
Happy to offer highlights from the bleachers over the next two years.

"a nationwide search across the country" line was a good one. I mean, what else would it be?
