OT: Lions-Saints Playoff Game Open Thread
OK, this other games sucks, so get all your positive Lion talk in now, since not being able to hold a 2nd string QB to under 40 has probably killed any chance of seeing the Lions win their second playoff game in most of our lifetimes. At least I'm not still in New Orleans for it.

Huge Turnover! About the only way the Lions will be able to stop them is if they get turnovers.
Another reason to hate the Saints today: The players from Ohio on their defense.

Stretching the lead to 2 scores would be huge this early.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:26 PM ^
I love that we are trying to get it to Megatron early
January 7th, 2012 at 8:26 PM ^
Another touchdown and they'll be punch drunk. Images of Marshawn Lynch in their heads. Lessgo.

Great adjustment to the bubble screen to CJ!!! wow nice work

Wide open passing spreads? Early turnover? No discernible defense?
How is this different than college?
Ed: Running from under center isn't working too?

Please be a first down

I think the ref ran in crooked there, lol. It helped us.

way to stay alive Burlson... that was huge
January 7th, 2012 at 8:28 PM ^
He looks scary.

Nice to join you all for another Detroit Lions playoff game.
I'm on delay so I haven't read any posts, and won't til a few more commercials through which I can fastforward.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:32 PM ^
Another? Did blogs even exist in 1999?
Regardless, nice to read your posts.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:37 PM ^
Likewise.

AOL Message Boards and the MSN group boards. That was about it.
Incidentally, awesome special teams tackle by Wendling there. No gain on the return.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:32 PM ^
Brees was struck by a meteor on the first snap. He's dead.

That camera scored twice against Clemson.
Wait... it just scored again. THREE times against Clemson.

Love me some Seasame Street.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:58 PM ^
I'm gonna have that in my head for a week. Wife in South Bend is humming it as we speak.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:33 PM ^
Megatron shoulda had that. Got bumped early
January 7th, 2012 at 8:35 PM ^
Helluva special teams play.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:42 PM ^
Have to make that tackle. Had a chance to get them off the field. Looking at you Tulloch.
EDIT: Delmas too
January 7th, 2012 at 8:41 PM ^
Good to see the defense stepping up...
January 7th, 2012 at 8:43 PM ^
Not so much....tackling is pitiful
January 7th, 2012 at 8:45 PM ^
I must have forgotten the /s.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:42 PM ^
The Saints... they are good
January 7th, 2012 at 8:44 PM ^
The checkdown looks unstoppable.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:44 PM ^
Time for a Houston pick six.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:44 PM ^
Not capitalizing on the turnover is huge. Two score cushion would have been nice.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:44 PM ^
Detroit's secondary tackles like Michigan's secondary when they played in NOLA.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:46 PM ^
Not holding my breath.
EDIT. Yup. New ballgame.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:46 PM ^
Was pretty poor on the second drive. Way too much lame, predictable handoff on 2nd and 10, which is a time when the Lions never get positive yardage.
On that long Megatron drop, they should have called illegal contact beyond five yards.
And, with that touchdown score, it's clear that the Lions are doing a bad job defending the edge.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:47 PM ^
No one thought it would be easy
January 7th, 2012 at 8:47 PM ^
Thank you, Tolluch, for allowing that drive.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:49 PM ^
Lions need to wrap up and quit going for the kill shot. Tackling should be better for an NFL team.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:51 PM ^
The middle is open. Exploit it all game long.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:51 PM ^
I thought the dead were walking the earth. It was just William Clay Ford. Sorry. My bad.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:59 PM ^
It looks like he got a seat in the TGIF's section.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:52 PM ^
good block by backus there
January 7th, 2012 at 8:53 PM ^
....that's a good way to recover all the yards and more
I do like how they are mixing up the offense and going to different guys nearly every time. It does seem to keep the Saints off balance. The Lions will have to do this a lot and do it effectively for most of the game.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:55 PM ^
Stafford is throwing with confidence! Looks good so far
January 7th, 2012 at 8:55 PM ^
i really like Kevin Smith... good football player
January 7th, 2012 at 8:55 PM ^
Let's hope Borges takes notes when teams are ten yards off quick slants
January 7th, 2012 at 8:55 PM ^
Wouldn't mind a holding call go against the Saints at some point. I know people complain about this all the time, but the Saints really do seem to tackle defensive players are a higher rate than you'd expect. The goal is to keep the QBs upright, but there have been a couple drives so far where the Saints just maul the linemen.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
Mega!
January 7th, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
is pretty good
January 7th, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
Can't cover him with a safety
January 7th, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
Solid drive and execution.
January 7th, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
This is the BCS Bowl Game* we were all expecting.
