OT: The Pistons are TURRIBLE
After watching this team get demolished at home by the lowly Cavs, you'd think I'd be upset. But no, it's quite the opposite, I'm quite happy at these turn of events. Finally without knowing it, Dumars has finally built a roster that could land us a top 2 pick. My worst fear, was that we'd be in NBA "no mans land", meaning we'd be bad enough to miss the playoffs, but just good enough not to land a game changer in the draft. (I realize Brandon Knight is a great pick. However, any NBA exec worth the ground he stands, would have the wherewithal to pick a player of Knight's caliber who has slipped to 8th.) Here's to you, president of basketball operations. Finally, the angry pistons draft picks hating gods have been appeased.
Anthony Davis, (and his uni brow) please.

Hopefully we don't mess up the number one pick. Trading Chauncey was the worst decision ever.
December 29th, 2011 at 2:51 AM ^
Every decision from 2005 on has been the worst decision ever. Putting together the team that won the 2004 championship and got to the finals in 2005 was a total fluke.

Darko over Wade or Melo?
December 29th, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
Don't forgot Bosch. He was available too.
December 29th, 2011 at 1:00 PM ^
It's Bosh*
and Wade wasn't under consideration and wasn't #2 on any draft boards.

You're under the impression that 34 year old, recently cut Chauncey Billups would be the difference between the worst roster in the NBA and the playoffs?
Trading Chauncey made a shit load of sense - they got a HUGE expiring contract so they could open up a ton of cash for free agency.
The stupid thing they did was give large contracts to Villanueva, Gordon, Rip, and Prince with the surplus cash.
Trading Chauncey was fine - what they did next is what destroyed them.

I'm not sure too many people on here really care about the NBA ... Don't get me wrong .. I like college basketball, but the NBA isn't quite what I call basketball. You may want to OT this thread ... it's just a tad Off Topic
December 28th, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
Read the posting rules. The posting of topics about local pro sports teams is considered not OT.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
You may want to read the FAQ:
ONTOPIC
- Anything Michigan sports related
- Anything related to other Big Ten teams or upcoming opponents
- Stuff about the blog itself
- University of Michigan topics that don't relate to sports
GRAY AREA
- College sports in general
- Ann Arbor
UNWELCOME, KTHX
- Politics
OFFTOPIC
- Pro sports of any variety
- Everything else
Where it says anything Michigan Sports Related ... it doesn't mean Pistons ... It means anything University of Michigan Sports Related
Pistons would fall under Pro Sports of any Variety -- Off Topic

I'd actually never read the posting rules. Someone claimed it in a previous thread, and it sounded legit. The fact that you actually went and read them scares me just a tad.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:45 PM ^
I didn't go read them .. I have posted OT stuff plenty of times before without marking it OT, and got the hammer slammed down on me .. I learned it that way
December 28th, 2011 at 11:00 PM ^
There are two kinds of OT: the kind that is "anything other than Michigan sports," and the kind that is "shit you shouldn't post during the season." While OT in the traditional sense, local pro sports are (to an extent) postable during the season.
With that said, if we have to have a new thread every time the Pistons suck, we may fill up teh interwebs by February.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
In my defense I guess, the over all topic of my thread, wa sthat we are going to be in contention for the 1st pick. I wouldn't post another thread in relation, until it was a certainty that they had a good shot on the night of the draft lottery.

Here ya go wresler120. Congrats, you've earned it. If you can't discern that "The Pistons are TURRIBLE" is an off-topic post about the Detroit Pistons, then, dag nabbit, you're right to attack!
December 28th, 2011 at 10:57 PM ^
I'd think a military guy would have more respect for rules than "meh."

It's a permissible post (though even that, I'm not sure Pistons sucking is news, but an interesting topic nonetheless), but definitely OT.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:02 PM ^
Not a whole lot of people post more useful and discussion creating topics than I do. I care a lot about the rules of the board, and always heed the ettiquite of the board. Go through the las several months, and I guarantee you no one has cared more about trying to keep the board going in dull times than I have.

I feel that was wasted on this topic. Generally, you save something like that for someone who has threatened to fight someone.
December 29th, 2011 at 8:43 AM ^
and If you disagree, I will kung-fu chop you in the sternum!
December 28th, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
I don't really try and tell people what to post (unless it's just flat out stupid, or was posted like 3 down). I value what others on this board think about non-Michigan topics. I don't even care that you thought it was ontopic. I just thought when the error made was correctly pointed out you were kind of dismissive about being wrong and made it sound like knowing and following the rules was some sort of obsessive geekiness. Maybe it was too subtle sarcasm, because it seemed out of character.

I like the topics you post, and wouldn't want you to stop. And it doesn't really bug me if they're mislabeled. Just when someone points it out, a little more mea culpa, or more obvious self-effacing.
December 29th, 2011 at 12:06 AM ^
Out of respect to you, and to the board, I will change this to OT.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:31 PM ^
In your first comment you told him to go read the posting rules...now you've never read them and they don't matter?
Maybe you should lose the hat?

I knew I missed a few things in my airing of the grievances. ::writes sysmark down for next years grievances.

Unlike him you will survive...and despite this little back and forth we will be happy and grateful for that
December 29th, 2011 at 10:20 AM ^
Things get blown way out of proportion way too often. I really appreciate your kind words though.
December 29th, 2011 at 10:33 AM ^
Don't get caught up taking this too seriously. It's a sports blog and should be fun.
Happy New Year!

How is the guy whose post is WRONG "highlighted" while the guy who is CORRECT gets downgraded to grey? I'm guessing I'll get downgraded to grey as well for pointing this travesty out, but that's just how some spiteful people work... Cheers!

Pistons and the NBA suck! Full of over- paid no name assclowns and queens. They walk most of the game.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:32 PM ^
Ramon Sessions playing great for the cavs and leading them into a draft abyss.
December 29th, 2011 at 8:56 AM ^
As a Cavs fan I don't see that happening. Sessions is trade bait and you have to realize that these are the two worst teams in the East. The Cavs got beat by Toronto just two days before. My guess is the Cavs and Pistons will have an equal opportunity at the first pick.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
I defended Joe D in an earlier thread, but boy was I wrong. Re-signing Stuckey to a 3-year deal is starting to look like an awful move. Where does this team go from here?
December 28th, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
Starting? You need your eyes checked.
December 29th, 2011 at 7:46 AM ^
Stuckey can be OK in a shooting guard role or sixth man. It is time to make Knight the starting PG now. It's only three years and not that much money.
The Prince re-signing was far, FAR worse.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
Go Cavs! Everybody ripped them for picking Tristin Thompson in the 4 slot but so far he looks like the real deal. High energy guy who plays defense and knows how finish. Kylie Irving will be tough too.
I'm pumped!
December 28th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
Thompson is not afraid to attack the rim. Also, Irving is in a nice situation with Sessions mentoring and tutoring him. After a 2nd quarter mishap, Sessions embraced Irving and "coached" him up. Hopefully the next few years Irving will be able to dominate as a floor general.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
Kylie Irving? She sounds hot.

Don't the Pistons have about a jillion 2 guards on the roster? Maybe we can pry loose one of theirs.
