HE WUZ ROBBED - Hoke not Coach of Yr
That MAN, who is over 40, won the Eddie Robinson award. Yes, but can he poop gold, and point or double-point?

But I can see arguments that someone else in the whole Country did as good a job as he did. Not winning Big Ten coach of the year would have been more of a "huh?" moment.
But Mattison not winnng assistant of the year is still a travesty.

Whateva.
Hoke will have the rest of his coaching career to win this award with Michigan.

All about the Sugar Bowl. He don't care because it's all about the Team.
December 16th, 2011 at 4:02 PM ^
and when we win it all next year he can put the award right next to the crystal

...Mike Gundy did have a pretty damn good year at Oklahoma State, and Snyder had what seems like sudden success at KSU after barely breaking .500 for a few years. Gundy put Oklahoma State (traditionally not a program that got national attention on a regular basis) in the National Championship discussion too, so it is hard to argue with that.

Gundy or T Boone Picken's wallet put OSU into the NC discussion?
All respect, though, Gundy had my vote

a Sugar Bowl victory over this award any day. I think we all share the same sentiment
December 16th, 2011 at 4:19 PM ^
OSU not in the BCS NC game, but Kudos to the coach.
Hoke did a great job. Best hire since Bo.
December 16th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
or even Bret Beilema deserved it over Gundy! I am not surprised Hoke did not win it, but it was an absolute SHAM that Mattison did not get the Broyles Award.

Snyder, Hoke, Gundy or Miles.
I think Gundy was a fine choice. Their one loss came away on a Friday night game that was basically Iowa State's whole season on the back of a school tragedy. His team next went out and beat the living hell out of Oklahoma.
Had Hoke won, no one could complain about that either.
Miles for the obvious reasons.
Snyder...eh. KSU's ten wins are impressive and all, but I wasn't wholly impressed with their body of work. They edged so many of their games (10-7 over E. Kentucky), got blown out by 41 points at home...I personally think they were the most overrated team in the final polls excluding Virginia Tech.
December 17th, 2011 at 3:55 AM ^
But doesn't the fact that K-State was in a position to be over-rated imply that Snydar did a great job?
Who the hell thinks K-State should be rated at all?
I don't even think he deserved the award, but don't people see the enormity of K-State getting 10 wins? That's akin to Illinois getting 10 wins. It is probably that schools cieling, or damn close to it.

I'm a little surpised Kevin Sumlin isn't getting any love from the voters. Granted, the conference they're in isn't the most challenging, but they did roll just about everyone their schedule.
December 16th, 2011 at 5:04 PM ^
The best team they played all year (USM) routed them by 21. I think that cost him any chance at winning the award.
December 16th, 2011 at 5:10 PM ^
It makes me sad how close we were to playing them. It would have been nice to be up 40 in the 3rd quarter of the Sugar Bowl.
December 16th, 2011 at 10:08 PM ^
He totally could have won it if he had beaten Southern Mississippi. Unfortunately, Houston totally bombed in that game. You can't end on that note at a school like Houston and expect to win awards.
December 16th, 2011 at 5:53 PM ^
Arguing against Gundy is silly. The truth is, there were a number of deserving candidates this year, including Hoke. What about Snyder at K-State? Or the Hat?
December 16th, 2011 at 6:07 PM ^
I understand Gundy getting the award. Oklahoma State was Little Brother 4.0 compared to Oklahoma when he took over. They've won somehwere between 15-20 times in the history of the rivalry if I'm not mistaken. Still, I'd like to think Coach of the Year should be based on who exceeds expectations rather than meets them. Oklahoma State was a national title contender at the beginning of the year and stayed that way.
Who could have possibly expected Michigan or Kansas State to be where they're at right now?
December 17th, 2011 at 8:28 AM ^
Les Miles led OSU to two of those victories over OU in the early 2000's before he left for LSU, but yes, that season-ending victory over OU this year was impressive.
December 16th, 2011 at 6:59 PM ^
"I had no business winning it. Ten wins is a disappointment. This is MICHIGAN fergodsakes!"
December 17th, 2011 at 8:29 AM ^
is Brady Hoke.
December 17th, 2011 at 10:25 AM ^
I think Brady should have won it, but all of these postseason awards are a farce anyway. Even the Heisman has no criteria for how to vote, so it's all based on opinion, PR, location, etc. Granted, I think it's fine this way, at least better than letting the BCS computers decide awards, but it will lead to "controversy" at times.
