Moderator Action Sticky
Brian has requested that instead of deleting each individual comment in the Moderator Action Sticky, that we instead just create a new thread. It takes hours of less time, preserves the comments for future explanations, and just clears things up faster.
You'll notice that the previous thread is now locked, and will slowly fade back into darkness. For the time being, the link from the Useful Stuff menu will point to the wrong location. We're working on a fix for that.
This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.
NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

I posted a warning to him in the thread. Personal attacks/name-calling are inappropriate unless they are clearly not mean-spirited. We may have just caught him on a bad day or something but let me know if it continues and I'll act accordingly, if necessary. I will say that your thread was bound to draw some flames - it was pretty passionate and those kinds of threads always get hammered (I know, from experience).

I didn't realize the other stuff that you guys were dealing with. I wish that were still the case.

Yeah, that went about as expected.

I don't post here enough to know who all the mods are, I assume you're the mod who deleted the Gibbons thread.
I understand the thread devolved into a shitstorm, but people should be aware of the topic. IMO a more appropriate action would have been to lock the thread but leave the link to the Ann Arbor Chronicle up.
This is a very serious issue and deleting threads about it is not helpful, IMO. Sorry but there it is.

And I appreciate the comments. I'm gonna defer to Brian here, but for now, the OP requested a delete.
It's obviously an important topic, especially in light of recent events. I just don't know if we can ever have a reasoned discussion in this setting.

FWIW, I agree with your treatment of the thread. If you wanted to leave it up but lock all comments, that would have worked I guess. But I would probably do just as you did, at least until it the story blows up a bit more. I find it very strange that it was never discussed or reported here until now, considering the fact that the first article linked in the thread was published back in 2009. I think Michigan scandals should be confronted just as we all did with the PSU Sandusky thing, but it just doesn't feel public enough or substantiated enough to me yet. I know what ChiTown is saying, but it just doesn't sit right with me. Yet.

The reason it wasn't discussed at the time is because mods (reasonably) didn't allow it to be discussed. Brian addressed it himself at the time and explained the mystery freshman athlete wasn't Marvin Robinson, but was expected to start, but not on defense. Or something like that. Anyway, I remember running through the possibilities at the time and realizing it was Gibbons. Brian didn't say who it was, but did give enough information that you could deduce it for yourself.

A day late and a dollar short . . .
C'mon people! Use the "Site Search" feature and look to see if what you're posting has been posted before, especially news reports like these. Chances are, they have been posted if the news is more than 5 minutes old. Or at least use "SIAP" in the title so I feel more comfortable docking points for the duplication. (/s)

If he wanted to say that we were hypocritical, he could have done that in so many other ways and all would've been well. But he didn't. So yeah...

This guy miggy signed up four days ago and apparently enjoys posting the same Tom Brady gif on about twenty threads that nobody is discussing any more. Doesn't seem to be ohioblueblood level, but maybe worth keeping an eye out for.

C'mon man. This doesn't even come close to being acceptable OT.

Posted a couple of days ago.
A reminder why we try to keep the board clear of things OT and uninteresting: many many readers check the blog after work, when the morning's threads have been pushed to Page 3 of the board.

And I've said it before, but I keep getting script errors due to the size of this page. We really need a new one of these threads. (FA, where are you? All the plants are going to die!)
