Rumor: Carlos Hyde feeling Blue
(Disclaimer about grains and salt.)
A friend of mine who also happens to be an OSU fan told me that he heard a rumor on the radio regarding Carlos Hyde thinking about transferring to Michigan. I asked if he meant Dunn, but he reiterated that he meant Hyde.
I know that Hyde has been pretty vocal about his disappointment with the Buckeyes and his role in the offense. That much is open information down here in Cbus. I didn't directly hear the nature of the Michigan rumor, but thought I would relay it anyway.
Enjoy all the premature speculation guys.

i'll take it. doesn't feel right and he won't be able to get a scholarship but if this is where he wants to go the coaches should accept him

That would be awesome, but does he have to sit a year tho?
October 21st, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
he would per ncaa transfer rules. he would be a redshirt junoir when he got here and most likely have to take summer classes to make up the credits if they dont transfer. would be a great addition though

Wait, what?
October 21st, 2011 at 8:57 PM ^
Honestly, even if this is true, I would hope we wouldn't accept his transfer.

He openly complained that he thought he was being mishandled by the coaching staff on twitter. I've watched some OSU games, facts are, Hall and Herron are just better. He's just not happy about PT IMO. I'm guessing his transfer will be blocked, so if he wants to walk on here, I have no problem with that. But I just don't think I'd want him on my team when he thinks he's entitled to more PT. What happens if Fitz starts over him or a freshman moves ahead of him on the depth chart. Not to mention the annoying media attention because a Buckeye transferred to Michigan. As well as constant comparisons to Boren. More trouble than it's worth. JMO

Not to mention the annoying media attention because a Buckeye transferred to Michigan. As well as constant comparisons to Boren. Why would this be a bad thing? OSU fans loved it when the media played up the Michigan-to-OSU story with Boren. It made them look good and us look bad. If the media were to do the reverse, I'd be perfectly fine with that.

I'm sick of the media focusing on things off the football field re: Michigan and Ohio St. JMO

Hyde would be the unofficial symbol of the shift in the dynamic of the rivalry.
My only concern over any Ohio transfer is whether the player would be so used to their system of illegal benefits that he would seek them wherever he goes next. OTOH, imagine how cool it would be if Hyde became a Wolverine and then told the NCAA the truth about what happens in Columbus.
A school that cheats as much as Ohio does should be more afraid of disgruntled transfers spilling the beans than any actual on the field opponent.

Not really a question for you specifically but rather the board in general but is there any reason I cant read the collapsed posts for trolling, flamebait, ect? I used to be able to but it wont let me expand them now and it makes reading these threads difficult.

i dont see why not let him. i understand he went to OSU but if he wants to continue his education and playing career at michigan the coaches shouldnt prevent it. i highly doubt he will come here because of scholarship costs but it wouldnt be a bad idea
October 21st, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
If he wants to transfer here, it shows he wants a real education.
October 21st, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
No, it shows he wants playing time.
October 21st, 2011 at 9:02 PM ^
Yea....I'm not to worried about that one. If not dunn then I am willing to wait for Ty Isaac in 2013 to come in with morris and hopefully treadwell.

his parents have an extra 35k a year lying around.

where he wouldn't have to take out any loans at all.

Inter-B1G transfer means no scholly. He won't come here

Would heplay FB or RB?
I see as a slightly more touted Stephen Hopkins...

1) boom herron just came back and is a senior along with being a different kind of back. Hyde also has 78 touches which isn't bad since they were trying to force the passing game for the first 4 games.
2) happens with all transfers
3) can take out a college loan

won the starting job in camp and rightfully deserved so and basically put the team on his back for the first 5 games then a guy who was suspended for the first 5 games and automatically gets his spot back i'd be pretty pissed as well.
October 21st, 2011 at 9:22 PM ^
The best players play. Herron was the starter for the two years previous. He served his punishment. Why continue to keep him out. And I think saying he put the team on his back is stretching it a little.
October 21st, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
i'm just saying i would be pretty pissed if that happened to me
October 21st, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
I'm saying he doesn't have a right to be pissed
October 21st, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
he shouldn't be pissed he isn't playing, that i agree with and he should just do what's best for the team. the part i disagree with or just understand is that he is pissed because he worked his ass off in practice and had the starting job only for it to be taken away by a guy who was suspended
October 21st, 2011 at 9:35 PM ^
If he doesn't like better players on his team playing instead of him - whether they're coming off a suspension or not - he should stop playing football.
October 21st, 2011 at 9:37 PM ^
or he can just transfer
October 21st, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
You're missing the point. CAN he transfer? Yes. But this is football - the best player plays. Quit being a prima donna and get the hell over it.
Say he gets drafted by the Chargers, is he gonna get pissed in his second year if Ryan Matthews is still starting over him?
October 21st, 2011 at 11:50 PM ^
There's always Indiana and Minnesota. He could always go there! and if he still has a problem and doesn't play, then he should quit playing football.
October 21st, 2011 at 9:39 PM ^
Of course it's my opinion. Just like what you post is yours. The kid's suspension is over. His fulfiled his punishment. Why should he stay benched after his suspension is over if he's the best player? I'm sure Herron was working his ass off as well while he was suspended. It's an even playing field now and the best players play.

He seems too big of a risk to be a distraction to a team.
All I can think about is the guy who steals someone's girlfriend, and then is surprised and upset when she leaves him for someone else in the future. I don't want to be that guy.
October 21st, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
From a reliable source out of Cbus... It's now up to Hoke wether or not he takes him in.... Why not add more salt to TSIO
October 21st, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
Not totally implausible since he's not actually from the State of Ohio. He has no family ties or deeply-held allegiances that would keep him tied to Ohio State.
But having to pay his own way would probably be a deal-breaker.
October 21st, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
So a kid from Naples, FL who is playing for OSU and is on pace for about 750 rushing yards as a true sophomore is contemplating an intra-conference transfer that's even further from home that will force him to pony up 35K/year for the priviledge? That's probably not happening.
October 21st, 2011 at 9:17 PM ^
Even if I wanted him here, I'd advise him against it. Why take out a loan when you can go to school for free elsewhere?
October 21st, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
wants to go to michigan?
October 21st, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
If that's what he wants, more power to him. But why does he want to come to MIchigan? To stick it to Ohio St? The kid obviously felt entitled to PT. He shouldn't have tweeted his displeasure. Work hard and practice and do your best when you're in the game. Control what you can control, don't whine.

Make sure you read my book about how Rich Rodriguez was mistreated while at Michigan. Comes out next week! Listen to me speak at the alumni function in Fort Wayne on Wednesday too.
Just kidding, I wish I was John U. Bacon. Sadly, I'm just a mere fan sitting on his computer watching TV on a Friday night.

But, but the OP's friend heard somebody who heard it on the radio. It must be true.
