What was Worse?
So please rank in terms of complete suckitude.
1. Refs-Complete disaster. Missed holds on our dline all game, missed the Kovacs Facemask, Lewan false start etc etc etc..
2. BT Network crew- Continued suckitude. Wow I mean wow. Continued to call wrong names and numbers and teams.
3. BT Camera Crew- Way to send me over the edge in the 1st half with not being able to maintain a signal for more than 3 seconds. It was great considering we were giving up 10yds a play. I was happy. Must have been that tough weather.
4. Mich D- Couldn't get off the blocks...I mean holds. Terrible tackling. Nice cozy 10yd cushions. Total ineptitude playing the option. Thanks for the turnovers NW.
5. NW play caller- Since you were averaging 15yds per play running the option thanks for not calling any in the 2nd half.

Hey
we won
October 8th, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
Btn crew was awful. One of the worst called games ever.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
The team is 6-0 and won by 18.
Don't really care about the announcers or refs right now
October 8th, 2011 at 10:30 PM ^
By a healthy margin I might add.Not a 7 point game against UMass...
October 8th, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
Our D had a shutout in the second half. They are last on that list.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
Chill man grab a beer enjoy the fact we won.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
The tackleing (or lack there of) was concerning. I'm hoping it was a blip because it's been pretty good the rest of the season. The lack of an interior run game as well. I thought the 10 yard cushions was terrible. NW has an O of short passes. It just lets them march down the field.

I second that
October 8th, 2011 at 10:41 PM ^
That would be #1.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:30 PM ^
I think our D is more well equipped to stop states offense than NWs, if you consider what the coaches have been focusing on this year. they have turned into a very sound team, forgiving the FR mistakes from Ryan, Beyer.
I also thought the LBing in the 1st half was non-existant, but that may have been great execution and playcalling on NWs part.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
Agree. But I think MSU also has the best D we'll face all year.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
true, but I was really impressed with this NW D. they sold out to stop denard and played a lot of zone behind it. pretty good prep for MSU next week IME
October 8th, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
By how fast they were.

Makes me scared when we're impresses with a NW D that lost to Army. Kind of reminds me of last year when Chappell was a really good QB, and we were unlikely to face someone that good the rest of the year after we played them.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:43 PM ^
Army won against a Persa-less NW. That's a huge difference. Colter can't throw at all. And Army's offense is waaay different than most.
BTW for all the praising of their D, we still scored 42 points. So. NW's defense was impressive at times, but they hardly prevented us from scoring. Just had to get more creative ways to get points, that's all. Didn't make it wasy on us.
How's about we not be all doom-and-gloom after an 18 point victory and give our opponent credit where credit is due?
2011 =/= 2010. This NW team would destroy 2010 Indiana on both sides of the ball.

Oh, wait...

Grow a set.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:31 PM ^
Oh, and it wasn't a facemask; his forearm caught the helmet. It wouldn't have happened if Persa hadn't ducked down to half his height.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:32 PM ^
On the replay you could see 2 fingers in the facemask
October 8th, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
eh from what I say he had a hand on the inside of the side of the helmet.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:31 PM ^
Announcers. Can't do simple math in their heads or put together meaningful, complete sentences.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
"And Michigan scores to regain the lead 21-14." Don't you mean Northwestern? BTN is awful.

We are 6-0 rejoice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who gives a shit about the rest we will be ranked it the top ten next week with a huge game. We are 6-0 we are 6-0 we are 6-0 we are 6-0 and that is all that matters.

October 8th, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
We're 6-0. Bowl eligible as early as possible. D allowed 0 points in the second half. Denard was 7-8 in the second half and they were good throws.
Point of this post: calm the fuck down.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:37 PM ^
In other words...
PERSPECTIVE
October 8th, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^
Some people really need to get laid.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^
Obviously the D sucks.
October 8th, 2011 at 10:46 PM ^
I don't want to be the one to throw out excuses, but did anyone else get the impression that the field was giving us fits?
Denard lost a shoe to just grass, we had a lot of guys who were clearly having a hard time making quick cuts on d to adjust to the offense. That alone cost us a couple td's.
Im not saying that was all of it, just that I think it was a factor for us, since I didn't see NW players having any of that kind of trouble. (Of course, when you dont have to worry about getting called for holding at all no matter what, it's a bit easier.)

What a bunch of babies. What are you guys crying about? I'm happy as hell we won but the d gave up 300yds of offense in the 1st half and the only reason they got off the field was turnovers in the 2nd half. The boys will get after it and try to get better.
The rest had nothing to do with Michigan. You're mad at me for being critical of an announcing team that can't get the teams straight? You need to check the mirror if you are that sensitive over this post. I didn't call out 1 player or a coach. It was what it was. Northwestern is a decent team.
I do agree the grass hurt us. Seemed like it neutralized our speed.
If you don't think Kovacs had his facemask you have maize and blue eyes. Please open them.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:01 PM ^
Well the boys gave up 300 yards of offense in the first half. They also gave up 60 yards of offense in the second half before the final garbage time drive.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:56 PM ^
That you feel the need to obsess about things like the announcing and other negatives when we're undefeated, bowl eligible, and beat a team with a pulse by over 2 1/2 Touchdowns. Mirror yourself.
October 9th, 2011 at 12:50 AM ^
Who's obsessing? Merely pointing out facts. I'm sure Brian will say everythings great in his recap post. Is Brian the only one allowed to point out negative points to the game. We were very luck y in this game accept it and move on.
Go search my posts before the season.
I was one of the very very very few saying we were winning this division. I'm always trying to be the voice of reason and keep things positive. Go check in with Zone Left of Gordie Bell if you think I'm being negative.
October 9th, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
Brian is at least going to wait till Monday to be negative. Not 20 minutes after a win.
October 9th, 2011 at 12:45 AM ^
It was not a clear facemask. Not at all. Persa ducked, and surely that ha d a lot to do with teh helmet being dislodged. That was part of it. Kovacs hit high, but not a clear facemask. Surely NW had reason to be severely upset by it...but it still wasn't a black and white call.
And to prove that's not maize and blue eyes from me... I think Michigan got extremely lucky on the enforced INT, because that call should have been overturned by replay. The nose of the ball hit the ground and the ball clearly moved when this happened, so I don't think our defender had the ball fully in control on the pick. Not that I complained about it. But the refs got that one wrong.
October 9th, 2011 at 12:52 AM ^
All what you say is true, but as Kovacs is flying over the top he has the facemask in his hand. He smartly quickly drops it, but it's as clear as it can be. He had the facemask.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
Denard and Lewan injury scares.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:07 PM ^
Bauserman is worse. By a LOOOOOoooooonnnnnnggggg way.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
I loved it when the guy said Denard hadn't tried a pass since he hurt his hand, when he had hurled a 40 yard incompletion a few plays before.
Not completely sure of the rule on grabbing helmets but Kovacs did not have his facemask. His hand ended up on the helmet because Persa ducked when he was about to get hit. Thought it was a good no-call.
October 8th, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
The whole BTN presentation was bad...my feed kept cutting out in the 1st half...the announcers were pretty bad...and the 1st down graphics were missing half of the game.
I could CLEARLY see NW holding the entire game and nothing was called, which was BS!
October 8th, 2011 at 11:37 PM ^
The btn was the worst, Michigan shut them out in the second half and not a word from the commentators, and the lost signals multiple times just made it worse
October 9th, 2011 at 12:22 AM ^
... because they couldn't spot Lloyd Brady at all. This has got to be a new low for them
October 9th, 2011 at 12:44 AM ^
BTN is the bastard love child of ESPN and public access cable.
