Gophers say: "Robinson just another good player."
As many of us rabid fans do, I often read the local paper of the team we are playing the coming Saturday. Never, have I read such things about Denard. Maybe I am wrong. You be the judge.

Crucify someone for being honest in saying an opponent is a great player? I'd hope not. Saying someone is a tremendous competitor and player doesn't mean you don't have pride in yourself or your team, nor does it mean you don't believe you could win the game.

I pity the fool if it is ever found out, his teammate might not be to partial to him handing us bulletin board material. Perhaps it was the journalist taking literary freedom, maybe he isn't to pleased with the direction of the program and wants the Gophers squashed.
I liked this line,
"Film session? You get a film session if you just turn on ESPN. ... It'll be a great test. You want a test like this early in the Big Ten season."
Obviously not everyone is underawed by Shoelace. We might need this, actually; considering their record, the unfortunate circumstance Coach Kill has found himself in, as well as the injury to Grey, perhaps we might be at risk for a little complacency; it might do us some good to sprikle a little "Oh no he di'int!" into the mindset.

i cannot help but roll my eyes at this thread. Some people need to understand that not everyone worships Robinson.
September 29th, 2011 at 1:10 PM ^
and of course, a post daring to disagree with the status quo is immediately censored.
September 29th, 2011 at 1:20 PM ^
Imagine that, people who disagree with your post will express that. It's not censorship.
September 29th, 2011 at 1:21 PM ^
Now, just take it one step further and Godwin the entire thread.
September 29th, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
You assume your post was negged because you presented a dissenting opinion.
September 29th, 2011 at 7:28 PM ^
At first I was like, "Maybe I should upvote this guy, he's just trying to express his opinions" but then I saw you complaining about getting downvoted and I decided against it.
September 29th, 2011 at 1:11 PM ^
P.S. Just because your post is being rated poorly doesn't meant that people didn't get the message. Unpopular opinions will be met with unpopularity. Doesn't mean that what you said is untrue, it just means that it is unpopular. And this isn't a popularity contest, is it? If so, I'm f-ed.

Just ask a guy named Galileo about this one.
September 29th, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
September 29th, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
Actually it has nothing to do with that. When most guys are asked about their competition, they tend to highlight their strong suits and talk them up. It's just the classy thing to do. These asshats on the other hand...
September 29th, 2011 at 1:15 PM ^
Come on they are the gophers, how can anyone be mad at them? I for one find it amusing, like watching a hamster in its wheel
September 29th, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
Love that quote from Tom Strobel. Someone needs to make that into a tee-shirt.
September 29th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
Much more entertaining than anything on TV.
September 29th, 2011 at 1:25 PM ^
as long as the other players are red grange, jim brown, herschel walker and charles woodson.
September 29th, 2011 at 1:25 PM ^
Guys that place in the Heisman voting aren't "just another player". I hope he compiles a 500 yard game on them (in 3 quarters of play).
September 29th, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
you have to understand that the minny players may not be the best judges of talent. to them, even north dakota state had good players. one would think that anyone better than him must be good. therefore, most everyone minny sees must be good.
so to them, yes, denard is just another good player running rough-shod over their defense.
September 29th, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
They're going to get "just another good" ass-whoopin'.
September 29th, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
I forgot there are still Big Ten teams that haven't faced him yet. Poor Gophers.
September 29th, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
Neither Minny nor Northwestern have seen Denard.

I think you could possibly understand the statement if it was coming from an SEC team because almost all of them have someone that is comparable to Denard. But when a 1-3 Minnesota player says something like that???
September 29th, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
As I was flying over SEC country, I could feel the speed at 40,000 feet....
September 29th, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
Ummm, exactly how would Minnesota know what a good player looks like?
September 29th, 2011 at 3:17 PM ^
What do you expect him to say? "Denard is vastly superior to any player on this team. Marquis Grey cannot do anything to immitate him." He needs to be supportive of HIS team, and supportive of HIS QB.
He's being a good teammate, and it's not like he's saying Denard sucks. He's saying they face a running QB every day at practice. People need to chill.
September 29th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
I guess that makes North Dakota State "just another team"?
September 29th, 2011 at 4:29 PM ^
I played against players vastly superior to me in talent. Before the game i would never said that.

Grow up people, this is standard talk for a competitor. Not everyone in the country needs to rub one off to Demard nightly.
September 29th, 2011 at 4:37 PM ^
It's not so much that it's poor sportsmanship, or anything like that. It's just dumb. It comes across as a slap in the face to Denard and could fire him up.
September 29th, 2011 at 4:36 PM ^
I'll let it slide...They Havent Ever Even Faced Denard Yet.

in the comments of every article I read in the SD paper. He was warning Michigan that they have never seen anything like Hillman or Lindley. I seldom read comments, and there is no way I'm posting just to twist a knife in his soul, but I can't help but wonder what they think of #16 now.

What do the Gophers know about good players?

What do gophers know about football?
September 29th, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
After the game they'll be saying, "Robinson is just another good player (except fast)."
September 29th, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
This is the smack-talk equivalent of firing the ship's cannons as the hull breaks in half and the vessel sinks like a stone.

missed an XP against Miami (NTM), and have seen a few shaky FG attempts. I hate to say it, but I would even take our kicking game over theirs.
September 29th, 2011 at 11:20 PM ^
Minnesota?
Sure, there once was a football team claiming to be from there, but all evidence points to the conclusion that if there was ever a football team in Minnesota, it moved to Wisconsin.
Football players in Minnesota are mythical beings. Like Unicorns.
Quick, sing the Minnesota fight song. See what I mean? No such thing.
September 30th, 2011 at 7:18 AM ^
After he rushes for 200 and passes for 300 will he still be just another good player???
