Hopefully he heels soon.
I hope he gets back on his feet quickly
gain a foothold on the D-line quickly.
in their shoes
You guys are toeing the line between redundant and funny. Hopefully Rex Ryan does not read this thread
ILwolverine ftw
I was just trying to put my best foot forward.
Football is a game of inches, not feet
no, facepalm
...quentessential Lions.
Was a season where we weren't that.
not having a 1st round pick practicing or playing in preseason games will not be a big deal for the Lions. The DT is already deep with Suh, C. Williams and SLH. They were great last year and will not be in a big rush to bring Fairley back into the field.
are doomed. We never catch a break......
Fairley Painful.
Didn't Nick a bone during the operation
your the best.
Fun fact - he saw that same foot doctor here in Charlotte that profitgoblue has seen.
(In case you're wondering, yes, I DO have the body and abilities of a professional athlete.)
If you see this doc again, I think you should ask him about treating Nick Fairley's foot. How could/would this doc respond? Even though it's complete public knowledge that Fairley had his foot surgery done by this doc, I'm assuming the doc couldn't acknowledge it to you because of HIPAA rules? Could Fairley sue for a HIPAA violation if the doc divulged to you that he treated Fairley (and you, in turn, chirped to the FREEP)?!
Dr. James Andrews has sliced and diced thousands of pro athletes. How does he not inadvertently violate HIPAA 8 times in the course of a typical day?
This definitely is a bummer. But to be honest, Williams/Hill will likely be just as good, if not better options opposite Suh this year anyways.
It definitely hinders Fairley's progress, but there is no reason to jump over board, or cry "same old Lions".
I think if this was Lashore(spelling?) this would be a bigger deal. The only thing that sucks is that is he doesn't get to be around Suh and the other guys(on the field and in practice situations)
I frickin get excited. I'm not trying to be a downer but the Lions get injured more than any team I have ever been involved with and it makes me go crazy.
It's not like the lions are thin at DT. Williams is as good as any #2 in the league and hill is starting quality and still improving.

You can go into 'same old lions' mode if stafford or calvin or delmas gets hurt. Other than that, I think they'll still be able to beat .500
Don't think all the rest are gonna start fallin soon, just watch.
Thanks, Angry Lions EVERYTHING Hating God

first round pick have to start their career injured, or at least get injured within the first year? Serously think about this.
than Stafford's shoulder (again).
You just jinxed Stafford's shoulder by talking about it, he will be out by the second quarter of week one.
Fairley's foot was jinx insurance. We're covered for now.
The surgery he had was a success, and he'll only miss most of, if not all of training camp, and more than likely, not any games. We'll definitely see him on the field before the pre-season is up, and he'll be ready and 100% before Week 1 of the regular season. Again, I say this in the nicest way, please calm the hell down.
Me today:
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH [your post] ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Thanks for taking the case out of my panic.
Clayton now reporting that the injury was NOT a lisfranc fracture and he's only expected to miss 3-4 weeks. It sucks, but it could've been a lot worse.
I'm going to wait until we know the complete severity of the injury. It could just be for part of the pre season, but if it's more, then I'll be disappointed for the lost potential of the Suh-Fairley D Line.
is good in his own right. He had a pro-bowl caliber season and commanded just as many double team as Suh last season.
Maybe he had a wart removed...or a hang nail or something. Don't sweat the small stuff. He'll be tap dancing throught the line in no time. Have a little faith!
3-4 weeks of recovery time. The title for the ESPN NFC North Blog entry is rather appropriate.
Sucks for Fairley. Hopefully he will be able to contribute come regular season time. He was supposed to team up with Suh to wreck shit.
Most rookies hit a wall after 10-12 weeks of the NFL season.
Nick may stay fresher longer.
I don't think a 1st round pick getting surgery before he plays a snap is ever really a blessing in disguise.
Not a major loss given the fact he is a rookie and the position has some depth. Should help integrate him into the defense a bit more, and I fully expect Fairley to see the field by mid-season.
prolly only thing it does is stop the temptation to trade hill or williams
