well done, I was about to post this.
high quality mgopr0n.
Oh my so big.
TWSS.
I drove past there yesterday, saw that they have the beginnings of a framework up - the steel girders that, I think, the new boards will be latched to. I think it consists of 5 or 6 steel beams. They are tall and broad, but not too tall or too broad. It was immediately clear that they seem the perfect size, and that they will help keep in some noise.
There was a story here, I think by Brian, a while back that showed the size of our old scoreboard vs. the new ones and a few different schools' boards.
Anyone know where that is? It is not coming up in the search under scoreboards and I want to show it to my mother in law. Commence jokes now married men.
Exactly what I wanted, thanks.
No joke here. Read my signature. True story!
Thats definitely the best representation to show exactly how much larger the new board will be. Does anyone know if half of the board will be used as an actual scoreboard with scores and stats and only half for replays and showing the game live. It would be awesome if its the whole board.
I would imagine part of the screen would be used for the stats - but I could imagine a situation where a replay or something could be shown and the stats dissapear for the 30 second or so while the replay is up.
That was my recollection as well...that the new scoreboard is going to be all screen (no static area ala the old boards) which will give a ton of flexibility for actual projection of in-game looks, stats/scores and replay potential. ZOMG the replay potential (!!!!!!!).
Well thats about as convenient as it can be, well done sir.
Can't wait!!!
Love the comparison. These screens ensure the hellfire we will unleash is omnipresent.
Has there been any comment officially assuring us that no advertisements will be included on these new scoreboards?
I remember reading something about it from Brandon.
I'm pretty sure that there won't be permanent advertising surrounding the board. Whether they flash ads up on board itself....that's another question.
The dimensions the listed for the scoreboard, is that the size of the screen or the whole thing, . Including the "Michigan stadium " lettering?
Per press release, each scoreboard will be 62 feet x 108 feet, and the video screens themselves will be 47 feet x 85 feet.
I was there on Friday. They weren't out there (either the rain) or they were at lunch. Judging by the supports, the scoreboards are massive. I'd post a photo but all of mine have my 9 year old making "awesome" faces in them
I wonder what an end zone expansion would look like. It would be pretty hard to keep pushing out and putting seats that sit behind the scoreboards. Second level perhaps?
But then do they need to push the scoreboards back?
I would have to say they get pushed back.
Just drove by them. The steel back supports are up and they are now putting x supports between them.
I just spent 10 minutes watching a live feed of a guy working on a scoreboard support. Thank goodness I have meetings this afternoon so I can pretend I don't have a problem.
I wonder if they will use the "Go Wolverines" line as depicted in the original scoreboard image rendering.

LOL
I'm thinking that will be a screen to display the score like I made in this draft of it...
