When will the new scoreboards be complete?
um...i sure hope so. we have a game then
that was the joke.
but then again so is your avatar. Very busted indeed. You sir, get a pass.
There seems to be a post about this every week. I'm sure they'll be up at the end of August .
The Spring Game was a very odd experience, to say the least. And even then I was way closer to the field that I would me on a normal game day.
As of last week, they had finished painting the supports silver. So they should start going up fairly soon.
Rumor is that they're not going to be done for another five years. It's terrible and everyone in Ann Arbor is panicking! They are so glad this Tressel/Ohio State stuff happened because now no one is concerned (well, at least not until NOW, when the 5697th thread asking this question was just started on MGOBLOG by YOU) with scoreboards due to the OSU brouhaha.
I sure hope this, and the next 4500 guys who post this thread, don't turn the public's attention back to this most important issue and find out Michigan doesn't have a clue and started a project they might never finish!
I thought I heard that they would be done in early August.
I'd love to sit and watch that stadium camera of the new scoreboards construction.
Can't wait, seriously.
I drive past the Stadium every couple of days to look at the progress... They've added more support columns (as the scoreboards will be wider and heavier) and painted them silver so far.
I have to drive past ohio stadium on my way to work. Boo Ohio.
sad for you sir.
At least you have a place to piss if you get stuck in traffic.
spit coffee all over my laptop. Not sure why I found this so funny. Thanks for the laugh this morning.
...looked for an "awesome" or "priceless" moderation label, but it wasn't there. I guess "funny" will just have to do.
Although he might want to bring a few coolers, you know, just in case.
Here are some pics I found yesterday

I haven't seen anything outside of the stadium which would resemble a scoreboard, so I don't think they have been delivered yet.
My old roommate works for the company that is putting in the new scoreboards..
He is done with the project now, but said they were suppose to be put up the first part of June. If they haven't been put in yet then they have been delayed for some reason.
I told him to get me some pics when they are all done.
DB said construction has been delayed by the stormy/rainy weather we experienced about two straight weeks of.
I run past the stadium twice a day and drive past it most days. Progress on the basketball stuff has been a lot quicker than on the scoreboards. God damn what a beautiful exterior the stadium has these days though.
Based on recent form... Brandon is likely to deny everything anyway. When shown photos of the new scoreboards going up, he'll deny that they are accurate representations. When Mark Snyder asks him; "But, Dave, we just left the Stadium. We saw what they look like!" He'll deny it again. And then, on the night of September 2, Brandon will reveal that Michigan is actually going back to special throwback scoreboards, with people inside hanging numbers up inside little windows. Like Wrigley Field.
probably not a good idea if they have problems with them once they are installed..
If something goes wrong, it isn't exactly easy to just take em down and get new ones either
I'm no engineer, but I would guess it depends on a variety of factors.
- How long do they need to do all the proper testing to ensure that the installation is done correctly?
- What other events are taking place in/around the stadium prior to opening week?
- What other projects does the company have that require the resources currently allocated to the Michigan Stadium project?
- What additional cost to the Athletic Department would extending the installation incur?
- How eager is Dave Brandon to just see those babies up there and watch Michigan highlights (and movies) in all their HD glory on the big screen?
Yost videoboard under construction...
Just drove down Kipke this afternoon to take a look. At least I hope it's just a primer coat of some sort; seems to me painting them dark blue would be a better idea.
