Wayne Morgan--Not in a NY-state-of-mind
I know TomVH has been all over this. However, I thought this was an interesting article on Wayne Morgan. It is pictured on ESPN College Football Recruiting main web page right now. A little positive thinking after the Pike2Auburn today.

It's still Michigan and... Rutgers.

Rutgers?
/re-reads again, sighs
Yep. Us and Rutgers.

They played in the first college football game EVAR. The also spend more money on football than UM annually (pre hoke / mattison numbers).

It's true. They did play the first football game ever. It's just that they've had a bit of a dry spell since then.
I remember sitting in Heinz Field last year, watching a pretty conservative, entirely uninspired Pitt team steam roll right over Rutgers, after a shaky start by both sides. Squinting through a hangover, I remember thinking: my god, Pitt actually looks good playing this crew. At that point, through the pain, I came to two keen revelations: first, this had to be the bottom of the barrel of the Big East, and by god, surely that must make them the be-all-end-all of BCS teams. Second, I felt immense appreciation Schiano turned down the Michigan job.
And I don't think it was an anomoly. The Big East is in a constant state of flux, and Pitt may be down for a long while if the worst should happen, but the rising power out here is Louisville, who has a new coach putting together a strong program. They will rise. South Florida didn't make all that much noise, but they made a lot for them, and, like Louisville, they have a promising new hire. Even Syracuse is getting back on their feet, making a lot out of very little. And of course, TCU is on the way. I don't see any Scarlet Dawn on the horizon.
My point? Well, sometimes kids go to schools just because they like them. Maybe Morgan really likes Rutgers, loves the coach, loves the city life. He might have a genuine connection there. If he doesn't, I'd be hard pressed to think of a meaningful reason a recruit would choose the Knights over the Wolverines.
As an afterthought, that article hinted at a lot of visits and desired visits in his future. I'd say putting any emphasis on the "top two" now is kind of a boondoggle. Sounds like he has a long way to go before he decides on anything.
plus 1 for "boondoggle"
I have a senior partner in my group who is a very loyal OSU alum and very close to some higher ups in the OSU administration, big donor, etc. He tells me Tressel is about to be fired, and no he's not just jerking my chain. I don't now if that means in the next couple weeks or months, but I don't think it's much of a stretch anymore to believe that it's true, especially after some of the comments in Gene Smith's recent presser and of course the recent revelations about the disclosure to Sarniak.
Urban Meyer was house hunting in the Columbus suburbs recently also according to my partner, but has not yet pulled the trigger on a place. This speculation about Meyer was rampant about a month ago but I could not find anything recently online about it. I know this sounds like pure speculation, blah blah blah, but believe me the source is moderately close to the situation, though admittedly not in the inner circle himself. Stay tuned.
Did this conversation happen a couple of weeks ago, say around April 1?
today
Ah, the old "someone with connections told me Coach X is buying a house in..." bit. If I had a dollar for every time we heard in December of 2007 that Les Miles' wife was seen either house hunting or actually buying a house in Barton Hills or elsewhere in Ann Arbor, I'd have enough money to buy a nice dinner. Furthermore, Meyer is an Ohio native. I believe that he might have kept a house there all along.
I remember reading on here that Gruden was house searching in AA.
Right over the head.
Wouldn't this sort of content (Tressel being fired) deserve its own thread??? Although that would be a bold move.
Rumor from OSU fan that Tressel will be fired and immediately replaced by an enthusiastic Urban Meyer (House-hunting in CBus before being hired!)? Sounds like a Buckeye wet dream (ie. not something that deserves it's own thread).
Anyone who knows anything knows that Herbstreet is a lock for the job when Tressel hits the unemployment line.
I heard that Earle Bruce will be coming back to help the defense in some capacity.
(for OSU fans)
I'll believe it when I see it. Never gonna happen though. Please, by all means, make me eat these words!
His daughter on twitter proved this wrong. I could find the link quoting saying it was a lie, but you'll just have to take my word for it.
True story; I was just throwing away some old 2010 papers, and among them was a wish-list from December, that only had these names, nothing else:
- Kris Frost WR/LB
- Anthoney Zettel DL
- Chris Bryant OL
- Wayne Lyons DB (Raymon Taylor/Sheldon Royster/James Richardson/Roderick Ryles)
- Hakeem Flowers WR (Devin Lucien/Prince Holloway/Sammy Watkins)
- Darian Cooper DL (Max Isaka/Deion Barnes)
... making lists.
Can you just go away forever? That would be great.
1 out of 6 ain't too bad... especially if we're going to offer eleventy-jillion kids each year.
Raymon Taylor will arrive in the Fall. The #14 athlete in the country for Rivals, 4*
why in the world would you post that? I'm going to go sit in a corner and cry for the rest of the night.
dude. Not very well played!
...and unfortunately can't start a post yet. Back to Wayne Morgan!
Well said sir
Wayne Morgan would be a great pick up
Zach Morris' cell phone? Love it!!!

Winningest program versus the school where the guy that did Mr. Magoo graduated?
Play for the guy who coached Ed Reed, or play for some guy?
Sweet Jesus, I like our chances with that.
That's right. We lost him to Rutgers and Grimes to Ole Miss. Then, we lost Parker to Wash. Those were tough days. I still think the staff knew about Dorsey and may have eased up. My Mich arrogance is showing.
Yeah, we thought we won that trade, and if Dorsey would have qualified, we may have been right. Oh well. I heard Grimes was already kicked off the team at Ole Miss, so I guess he wouldn't have been any better than Dorsey.
I have no inside source (just the voices in my head), but I could see Dorsey transfer in from GR in the future. No Fly Zone bitches.
Just thought i'd post this (mostly because Iw have a lot of points to earn back but also because of the title of the thread): Rutgers is the state university of New Jersey. As a New Yorker I can tell you that I don't know very many people who even considered going to Rutgers. If you're going to Rutgers, you can likely get into a comparable state school and pay much less. Or you can go to Michigan and get a better education.
I don't doubt that at all...just he's not in a New Jersey state of mind (for the purpose of the thread title...and again just trying to earn back my points). I don't think it's that surprising it's us and Rutgers - might have thought Penn State too.

Hey....i know it has nothing whatsoever to do with the thread but I thought I'd share what a buddy of mine heard from a VERY reliable source inside the Athletic Department at MSU. Turns out Dantonio is going to be implicated as the mysery "third man" in the recent Aspen beatings. He's coached his last game and will be fired as soon as this becomes public.
Now here's the wild part. Rumor has it he's going to be replaced by Lloyd Carr who's already lined up RichRod as his offensive coordinator and and Les Miles as his defensive coordinator. All three were recently spotted house hunting in East Lansing and sharing a stack of pancakes at IHOP.
I have no source for this but TRUST me....it's gonna happen.

I'll dig my own grave and bury myself. Srsly.
But well played.
Les Miles is an former O-lineman so he won't be the DC, it gotta be Corwin Brown.
