I am forever thankful for the Ontario tv stations we picked up in the late 70s. I got to see Monty Python, SCTV, Benny Hill etc instead of the junk on local stations, except for The Ghoul of course. Still recall SCTV spoofing Fantasy Island, Ben Hur and many more. Great stuff, miss you Joe!
I wore my 97 national championship shirt quite a bit the last few months, hoping to conjure up some luck for team 144. It’s in a pretty bad state, but I have some updated gear in the mail. Can’t wait to proudly display it. Told my sons to enjoy this to the max, you never know when the next one will be. Now if only I had a Lions championship shirt to wear….
Agree 100%. Reminded me of the original Gojira movie from 1954. It’s sad how that movie was butchered to make the “Americanized” version of Godzilla in 1956.
I’m no expert but want to see the first guy to get hands on the QB to make the tackle. It’s demoralizing on 3rd & long to have their QB escape a sack and then run for the first.
My friend and I pretended to be Burp and Slurp by putting sleeping bags over our heads and stumbling into each other in the hallway. It was all fun and games until I fell down the stairs.
I lost track how many times I went from a smirk to a chuckle to a full LOL. This post somehow gets better every single week. I can’t wait for the next one.
Thanks for sharing this, definitely worth a read. Personally I enjoyed the work of Shelby Strother most of all. Just wish he had been granted more time here, died way too young.
SS was my favorite when he appeared on the scene. I wish we could have enjoyed his writing longer, he died way too soon. I have a book of his columns and stories that I still pull out from time to time. Incredibly talented writer.
