01/06/2018 - 12:30pm Refs

The refs are making this game hard to watch. Seems like there is a foul on every possession.

12/21/2016 - 11:14pm +1 for the Fear and Loathing reference.

I agree with everything that has been posted so far. I would like to encourage those, like me, who are upset with this decision to call the alumni office (800.847.4764) to voice your concerns. They told me they are taking notes and documenting every call about this issue to pass to their superiors. I'm not sure if they are actually going to do that, but more people calling to complain can't hurt the situation any worse. As a consolation to my complaint, they offered free tickets to the Alumni Tailgate for the Homecoming game. This was the best program the alumni association had going and they should know that it is not sitting well with the members. Now Get Off My Damn Lawn and call them to complain!

Trying something new: Stony Brook Red from their Barrel Room Collection. I'd you feel like spending $10.50 for a 25.4 oz. bottle, it's worth a try.

Anyone have a link to an online stream?

08/24/2012 - 2:39pm You Are Welcome

It's my pleasure to serve.  To tell you the truth, I can't beleive they pay me to land planes on carriers.  I probably can't buzz the hotel, but I'm working on a flyover at Michigan Stadium sometime this year or next year.

08/24/2012 - 9:20am 7 Days

In 7 days I'll be on an aircraft carrier in the Atlantic somewhere defending this great nation's freedom. I'm crossing my fingers that the ship can somehow broadcast the game. Go Blue!

In honnor of our future QB.  Pee-Wee would also be a good name.

04/19/2012 - 12:54pm B1G Championship

If you look at Michigan's schedule on the same website, it shows that the B1G Championship is at 8 PM ET on FOX.  The time and network on the OSU schedule is probaly a typo and is meant to be the B1G championship game (which would be on FOX).

03/20/2011 - 3:09pm I agree

They don't stop hand checking.  It is very frustrating to watch and I imagine, extremely frustrating to our players when they have the ball.  Duke just keeps smacking at us.  It doesn't seem fair.

03/11/2011 - 4:59pm Michigan

Michigan. Winning.  Duh.

Go Blue! Go Jet Pilots!!!

03/11/2011 - 4:15pm Getting after it

So weakest blocking call ever. I've seen offensive linemen block less!!! (BOOOOSH!). Getting progressively more drunk with this game. My nerves are fried. Rough day, thanks everyone not named Novak.

03/11/2011 - 3:43pm Shooting

So I really want someone other than Novak to show up on offense. Everyone else just left the meat locker they are so cold (*cue drums). Illinois's shooting is average, Michigan's is lame as balls. Other than Novak...he's the boss

03/11/2011 - 3:34pm Gah

Just got back from my T-45 ride (it's a jet, WINNING) and noticed this score. Seriously?! This is awful. Also I hate the Big Ten logo sooo much

02/05/2011 - 3:35pm Montana

As a Grizzly fan, I hope he ends up at Montana.  Montana football had a down year this year and could really use Tate's skills.  I wish him luck wherever he ends up.

10/31/2010 - 12:19am #44

Courtney Sims?

08/28/2010 - 11:11pm Yes!

And trust me, as hard as it is to earn your wings of gold, this "flat hatting" was definitely not worth it.  In fact, I had to stay in on both Friday and Saturday night this weekend to study for my flights.  Those guys worked SO hard to be Hornet pilots and in a matter of seconds, it was all for nothing.  A very sad story, but something us young student naval aviators can learn from.

08/28/2010 - 11:06pm Interesting

Yes, they sometimes do different places such as Fallon for Red Flag, El Centro for bombing practice, or various other places.  My earlier comment was in regards to their "home" bases.

08/27/2010 - 6:49pm F18 Squadrons

Most Navy F18s (Hornets and Super Hornets) are based in NAS Lemoore in California.  The new Growlers (replacing the Prowlers) are also Super Hornets, but based out of NAS Whidbey Island in Washington.  The US Marine Corps also have F-18s based out of Miramar, California.  These are the only squadrons based on the West Coast.  There are 5 of us Michigan alumni in flight school at NAS Corpus Christi flying T-34s.  We can't wait for the day when we can do a fly-over at Michigan Stadium (don't worry, not in the T-34s)!

08/27/2010 - 6:45pm After Burners

Due to FAA flight restrictions and Navy rules on speed and altitude for special events, the flyovers you have seen at Michigan games restrict the pilots from using afterburners and being below 1,000 AGL (above ground level). However, I agree that it is loud as hell.  It is especially hard to hear the Color Guard Commander (person in charge of raising the flag) give orders while the fly-over is taking place.

Edit:  2 Navy F-18 Pilots lost their wings after a flyover at a Georgia Tech game last year because they were below their minimum allowable altitude.

08/27/2010 - 6:29pm Prowlers/Growlers

The only place you will find Prowlers in the lower 48 are Whidbey Island, WA (Navy) and Cherry Point, NC (USMC).  The Growlers are also only found in Whidbey Island, WA.

08/26/2010 - 8:37pm Courtney Sims

Courtney Sims also had some playing time in the NBA.  I remember him signing one of those 10 day contracts with the Pacers; not sure about his time in Phoenix and New York.

Meet my new avatar!

08/20/2010 - 9:54pm I'm Drinking Water too,

But only because I have two flight simulators tomorrow and the Navy's rule is "12 hours bottle to brief."  My brief starts at 0650.  I am jealous of everyone else who is enjoying their beverage of choice and am proud to be training to defend your freedom to do so.

"If you don't love it, leave it!"

08/19/2010 - 1:55am I agree with the OP

I am not sure how the schedule will shape up with the addition of Nebraska, but we are scheduled to have Notre Dame, Penn State, and Ohio State at home in 2011 as of right now.  The points made in your post, along with the favorable home schedule, is why I am very optimistic for the 2011 season and why I think Rich Rod should be the coach in 2011 (pending improvement from last season).  His system is in place and he has his players.  I really hope the team does well this year so that Rich Rod can keep his job and begin winning here in Ann Arbor the way he has won everywhere else he has coached.  I think this year is just the beginning of many good years to come for the Wolverines! Go Blue!

08/17/2010 - 11:39am Perry

I had a class with Perry in Fall semester 2008.  He was a really nice guy and really smart.  I looked so small next to him and I'm 6'1''!  I hope he gets more reps this year.

08/14/2010 - 12:36pm Coffee

He was a great pick-up last year for me in fantasy when Gore went down. It's nice to see that he is getting to walk away without injury to pursue a very noble career.  I'm 23 and I would have a tough time making the decision to walk away from playing a pro sport and making millions of dollars.  I respect his decision.

08/13/2010 - 12:31pm Heat

I'm glad it's not too hot up there in Ann Arbor.  It's around this time of the year that I worry about players getting heat stroke.  I had a flight yesterday and it was over 130 degrees on the tarmac!  After that flight (which included a number of high G aerobatics), I'm pretty sure I'm not in shape to play D-1 football.  Good to see the team working hard.  September 4th can't come soon enough! (Now that we are flying 6 days a week here, I put in for leave on September 4th, just so I wouldn't get scheduled to fly!)

08/12/2010 - 1:15am Basketball

Not quite the same, but I used to ride my bike to basketball games.  There are bike racks on the Northwest side of Crisler.  If they have started construction on the new practice facilities, those bike racks may not still be there.  As a note of caution, you can still get a DWI for riding your bike while intoxicated, so don't drink and ride!

08/04/2010 - 11:24am KYIP

Willow Run is where all the military aircraft that do the fly-overs fly into on Fridays.  If you are lucky, most of the time the F18s or F-16s performing the flyover will do a practice run Friday afternoons to get a feel for the layout of Ann Arbor.  I'm looking into doing my "cross country" flight in my T-34 to Ann Arbor to catch a game and Willow run is closer to Ann Arbor and the airport landing fees may be a little cheaper than KDTW.

07/25/2010 - 11:32pm I'm like Ricky

Ricky from Trailer Park Boys has a positive outlook on life:

"I'm not a pessimist, I'm an optometrist."

I couldn't agree more Ricky.

07/20/2010 - 12:38am Thank you!

This is my new home page.

07/19/2010 - 5:01pm I'll take the U.S. Navy please

MGoShoe was in the US Navy, not the US Coast Guard.  If you want real power at sea, your best bet is the Navy, not the Coast Guard.

07/02/2010 - 3:29am US Navy

I enjoy your sea stories, sir.  My Navy career is young, but someday I too will have my own sea stories to tell. Thank you for your service.

06/30/2010 - 5:48pm Fun Fact

I went to the same high school as Osweiler in Montana and he origianlly committed to play basketball for Gonzaga after his sophomore year of high school.  For those of you who follow the Miami Dolphins, RB Lex Hilliard also attended the same high school before attending the University of Montana.  I had a class with him and it was fun seeing him get letters from all the big name schools in the region that were recruiting him at the time (i.e. Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Boise St., etc.)

06/21/2010 - 10:09pm I concur

Going to Michigan and choosing naval aviation after 4 years in the NROTC program were two of the smartest career decisions I ever made.  You may see me doing the fly over at Michigan Stadium in my F-18 one day...that's the dream anyway.

06/12/2010 - 10:06am If you didn't like that ride.... wouldn't like my job.  I'm a student naval aviator in the primary phase of naval flight school and most of us flight students down here at NAS Corpus Chirsti would love that feeling to be part of our daily lives when our F-18 Super Hornets are shot off the carrier.  It's not for everyone, but for us thrill seekers, it's the ultimate.
