Sam Webb "Gut Feeling" On Jordan Anthony and a Najee Harris Confidence Booster

Submitted by ColeIsCorky on

I posted some potential rumors with Najee Harris regading a potential commitment date set for today on another thread that I discovered was completely false after doing further digging once more information was out there, so here's me attempting to make up for it.

This may have been brought up before, but on WTKA this morning Sam Webb gave his "gut feeling" on Jordan Anthony committing to Michigan tomorrow. Unless something goes really wrong, he's choosing Michigan tomorrow. I believe I heard Sam mention it one other time before, but I don't recall reading much more about it on mgoblog. Hopefully this is news to most of your ears.

On Najee Harris...

This morning, Sam Webb went into further detail on him and made this statement.

"If you just listened to what folks inside Michigan circles are saying, you'd be popping champagne bottles already." Another statement says they are "really confident" with a major emphasis on "really."

He discussed how he hasn't made a full assessment on whether or not he will commit to Michigan because he has not heard anything from Najee's own personal circle, but that should pretty much tell you how confident the staff and fellow recruits are that Najee will be committing to Michigan.

I listened to the podcast this afternoon, or I would have posted this sooner. I haven't seen anything mentioned on the board yet regarding these comments.

I'll leave it at that.

Link to the podcast: Well worth the whole listen.

Happy Holidays, friends.

Noone is popping bottles until he's enrolled here. Understood and pretty much will be my final reaction as well. But it's easy to decipher what Sam said on the podcast as saying he's basically told the staff he's coming. Sam chooses his words wisely, so I don't think that's an unreasonable take on Sam's comments.

Now there was another recruit who committed to Georgia this past week who also told the staff he was coming yet committed to a different school, so yes, to your point, noone is popping any bottles. But to say there's nothing to take from this tells me you refuse to listen to anything positive until WD confirms his actual enrollment. Which again, that's totally fine and probably extremely healthy.

I am not saying he will commit to Michigan. I in fact know nothing of my own personal recruiting hot takes - I have no connections. All I do is update the board when I hear of free relevant Michigan recruiting info that I believe is board worthy. Sometimes I also include my perception of his somewhat cryptic quotes at times, but I will state those comments as such instead of putting words in Sam's mouth. If you're questioning Sam's connections, I would stop there. He's heavily plugged in with the staff, particularly Wheatley, and recruits talk to him because he doesn't blab. He's got established relationships with both kids and their parents. In my opinion, he's a great listen and he's probably the most established Michigan Insider out there. I'd listen to him over anyone else.

hard to say he doesn't blab, when he's coming out and giving his gut feeling on where a kid will go from imformation he has gathered.  Not saying that to be argumentive, but just saying...

I feel confident UM lands Anthony today and I really want to believe Harris is also coming, but just have this feeling when the dust finally settles he sticks with Alabama.

But my comment was taken out of context. I suppose I should have included the ol' /s. My comment was intended for the comment...I replied to. The one saying "great so basically nobody knows anything thanks for the update". My comment actually was meant to imply that this info didn't come from nowhere. I would classify my comment as a "where there's smoke, there's fire so it's most likely not just the same old news with regards to Najee". I actually read your post to be rather encouraging, hence my reply to one of your naysayers.

gets some positive vibes from Najee's inner circle of friends, coach's relatives or neighbors I suppose. Not exactly sure who or what his inner circle consists of. Sam also said he had no idea when Najee might announce so I don't think it matters what the UM side of this recruitment thinks because you know how things change the longer things take.

From what I understand Najee Harris may not even 'commit'. He may just enroll at a school and start classes. (this is gleaned mostly from seemingly aware comments on mgoblog, not from ANYTHING I am uniquely privy to -- mgoblog is my only source about anything recruiting <for good and for bad>).

Whether that be Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State (well, maybe not them), or Grambling, I think that is fantastic.

#1 rated player, obviously any school would take him. Early enrollee. No need at all to commit. Sign up, move in, go to class. I understand he is not about the publicity, and that route is not about it, but even if one were about the publicity, can you imagine the publicity that would draw?

Just going to college, man.

I appreciate your approach Mr. Harris.
