Wisc LB Biegel foot injury (Confirmed)

Submitted by MEZman on

Just saw this on the Wisconsin 247 board. They seem fairly despondent toward the bottom. Thought it was interesting enough to post. Sucks for the kid.

Edit: Rumor is broken foot in practice Wed.

Edit #2: Moms feel free to kill this if it's not appropriate rumormongering.

They still have JJ Watt's brother. Anyone who comes from that bloodline is a force to be reckoned with.

But in all seriousness, this is a bummer. He's a hell of a talent and would've been a great test for the offense to go up against. Hope like hell his back in time for them to play OSU somehow.

So we know this will hurt them. Anecdotally one Wisconsin fan says it would be like us losing Peppers. I'd like to hear what some of our Xs & Os gurus have to say. Anybody watch a lot of Wisconsin film lately? Is this just a minor setback for an otherwise deep LB corps? Or is this truly a major blow to the Badger defense?

From PFF: http://michigan.247sports.com/Bolt/PFF-projects-Michigan-blowout-over-Wisconsin-47870768

The Badgers have scored 85 of their 113 non-garbage time points (better than 75 percent) via long, grinding drives lasting at least six plays, while Michigan’s defense has yielded just 10 points on drives of that length. Without the threat of being able to explosively move the ball downfield against Michigan’s elite corners, Wisconsin will be forced to rely on something that simply hasn’t been done against Michigan this year.

Never wish injury on a player yada yada yada

Never heard of this guy so I looked up his production. 9 tackls on theyear 1 vs. MSU) averaging 2 per game so it's not just that he got injured early in that game. Maybe he has had a nagging injury all year.  I dunno but the stats dont support a comparison to Peppers as suggested below.. Peppers averages about 7 tackles per game and has 30 on the year.

To quote Mike D, where's the threat?

This really sucks... I'd really like to play them at full strength. If you don't face good competition, how can you improve?

Biegel and T.J Watt played awesome last week and lived in MSU backfield all game. I can't honestly say I remember much about him before last week besides when we were recruiting him.

According to ESPN he had 1 tacle in that game, just under his average of 2.2 per game.

I do recall seeing his name come up a lot though, maybe because he was standing letx to Watt a lot after Watt made tackles or   maybe he forced a lot of Tanner O'Cook rushed throws warranting your Beatst comment?  Stats belie Beast comment thogh. That he was not.

Per Ace's FFFF writeup, Biegel is the most effective pass rusher of any edge defender in the B1G, with 18 pressures on 83 pass-rush snaps. Having Biegel out would be a huge help to our passing game, particularly with Speight's potential issues with accuracy under pressure in the pocket.

to come back from a foot break? I've broken bones without any negative effects, but didn't have any screws added.  Hope he makes a quick recovery.  I wanted to see Michigan go up against this LB corps. I think Michigan would win either way, so I wanted to see the best they had.
