For what it's worth (the supposed press conference firing)

Submitted by pdxwolve on

I have been very curious about Monday, even though DB shot down any idea of a press conference. For what it's worth, a very good friend of mind who talks with RR regularly (newspaper person) said he doesn't know what the hell is going on, and that he knows of no press conference. Just passing it on. Can't say who it is, but this isn't some double-secret figment of my imagination. After hearing this, I feel a little more at ease that there will be no public lynching of RR tomorrow.

I await your verbal dong punches...

Loathe seems like a strong word.  I'm disappointed in him, but I kind of expect every incoming freshman non-QB to screw up at least once like this.  The QBs I think the coaches are a lot more dialed in to and teammates pay attention to them because of their importance to the team.  The punter is important too, but it doesn't shock me particularly that maybe nobody noticed Hagerup was smoking weed (or whatever he was doing) until he was caught.

my girlfriend says there is a press conference today.  she is a model, from canada.  i guess you guys just never meet her when she comes to visit, which she does do, often, so we can have the sex.

needs to announce a press conference that there will be no press conference.

RR = not getting fired

Harbaugh = not going to be Michigan's coach next year

Gerg = probably not going to be Michigan's D-coordinator, but still, fabulous hair

team meeting on Thurs = is about bowl practice schedule

I think Brandon should call a press conference simply about not calling a press conference.  He could simply say:  "Thank you all for coming today.  I've called this press conference to state that there will be no press conference."  That would be awesome.

I think the media is confused because DB has given them a direct quote saying that he will not evaluate the coaches until the season is over including the post season.  It is so direct and clear they are at a loss for how to report this and how to put their own spin on it.

I'm sure that he can straighten all of this out with some clear, concise, reliably-sourced information that will quell internet rumors.

And not inflame things with baseless opinion that would force David Brandon to put out a denial via Twitter, that even now seems not to have completely corrected the damage done.

No Monday Press Conference today but we'll hold one once the team learns its bowl fate (likely a week from today). #goblue

I hear from a few people around the program (this is not a friend of a friend thing - what I have been told is just speculation by the tellers) that the meeting was planned before the OSU game.  Most people think (again, just speculation) that the meeting is a typical post regular-season, pre-bowl practice meeting.

I also understand that LC used to schedule a team meeting the week after the final regular season, game.  I would imagine that most coaches do.

ultimately lynn henning wrote an article that i won't link to that said something along the lines of "i can't believe people interpreted me saying that RR would be fired on monday as me saying that RR would be fired on monday.  how dare they take my words and use their regular meaning to draw reasonable conclusions."  he's an idiot.
