Wake Up! It's Game Day!

Submitted by cGOBLUEm on September 16th, 2023 at 6:56 AM

Good morning MGoCommunity,

Not a very exciting slate of games this week, but it is football Saturday nonetheless. There are a couple of games that I'm particularly interested in. First is WKU v OSU. WKU has had some fairly good offenses over the past few years. I'm not expecting them to win that game, but it would be nice if they put a scare into the Buckeyes. Also, it will be interesting to see how MSU responds to the cloud surrounding its football program. Many Spartans that I know believe the return of Dantonio to the sideline (in an "advisory role", of course) is going to completely transform their season. I highly doubt that, and I'm looking forward to MSU getting embarrassed at home.

Finally what are you guys doing with all the time before the late kick? I'll be finishing up a bit of light landscaping, as the weather is going to be beautiful up hear in northern Michigan.

Enjoy the day, and Go Blue!

Just want to see the running game get going.  I know we’re going against stacked boxes and formations have been discussed Ad nauseaum, but we oilfield be great to see 200-250 yards on the ground so opponents have that fear again of getting ground to dust.

JJ is playing incredibly well, but adding in the successful power running game of the past couple years really would make this offense a nightmare.

The defense looks incredible, albeit against totally overmatched opponents.  D-line looking top 1-3 in the country and backup secondary players have been great. D looks championship level already

Already got my walk in, going to get the chores done before the noon games kick off.  Probably going to watch Penn State stuff and mount Bert, a little of the Ohio State game and whatever else pops up.

Otherwise I’ll be waiting all day for Saturday night.  LFG.

Zero plans. The wife is going to Holland for a Civil War reenactment. Not sure if I tag along or stay home and watch football.

And waking up at my normal work hour sucks when there is a night game. This 61yo may need a nap.

Donut run complete.

Wife has a wedding shower to go to so I get to stay home with my son. Maybe walk to a park and play till noon-ish.

Wish I was fishing this weekend...but the wedding shower got in the way of that. :)

Overall, some yardwork and little things till game time.

It's Oktoberfest time. First of 5 weeks in a row. I play in an oompah band and our first stop is Watermark Brewing in Stevensville. We get done at 6 so I will be home close to kickoff! Great day I get to play Alphorn, Trumpet, drink beer and watch U of M!

Up early on a weekend bottle feeding a brand new Michigan fan. Introducing him to a lifetime of passion for a silly game, just like my dad did for me. Go Blue

Going to take my family to the Lafayette game at 12:30. Patriot league/ Ivy League football isn't great but my kids will love it And it gets them out of the house. Great weather  this weekend too. Should be back in time for some 3:30 start games.

Fixing the retaining wall for my egress windows which involves replacing a few rotted 10’ 6x6s. Cutting the grass and maybe aerating the grass if my brother in law wants to split the rental with me.

My 17 year old daughter is going to the game tonight but I’ll be watching from home with rest of the family.

I have a soccer game at 10am with my U14 team, then my oldest has a varsity soccer game at 1:30 and we'll be leaving to head to Ann Arbor immediately after for the Michigan game. Busy day. Go Blue!

The late start is a little annoying but does allow me to see other games during the day and also deal with various family activities.

OSU is going to win but WKU is a good offense so we'll see how that defense looks.  Also, MSU fans seem to forget that Dantonio's last couple of MSU teams were mediocre AND he left/was let go due to his inaction around sexual assaults by players.  So yeah, I have my doubts he's coming back with a blaze of glory.  Though I'm sure if the MSU players pay tribute to their fallen coach I'm sure the usual assholes online will totally treat it with the same indignation we saw toward UM and Harbaugh.

I'm interested to see how UT-Florida goes.  It's a road game and Tennessee hasn't looked THAT good on offense in two weeks.  UF hasn't looked good offensively either so maybe this is lower scoring than I expected.

Watching from the couch, with what I assume is Covid. Seemed like a bad cold until I lost taste and smell. I’ll probably order some sort of takeout (that I can’t taste) eat a gummy or two and just feel like I got ran over by a truck.

Tonight will be my first time back in michigan stadium since 2013 (moved out of town). First night game as well. If we show up around 4, think there will still be parking available at pioneer?

At least the game is after dinner. That works out better for me generally.

3:30 PM kicks or later give my day a better balance. Noon kicks, even when I was a student, made the day seem rushed and out of whack.

7:30 kick is a blessing and a curse. Soccer tournament for my son, which will take me into the late afternoon, so not missing kickoff. The curse is having to go to bed at halftime to catch an early flight. If I could sleep upright in a plane, I’d happily watch, or if it was a big game, I’d be too hyped to sleep, but I’m sure they put BG to bed early and me as well.
