The English Lord sounding receiving corp was never meant to be. There was a time when it could have been Treadwell, York and Dukes. It would have made for a lot of bad Sportcenter jokes.

I call 15-25 life's gaunlet - when most of the worst stuff can happen to you. That period of time amounts to only 20% of my current life span, but I'd say 95% of the most life threatening and dangerous stuff I've encountered in life happened during that span.

This is so true. At 30 I am really glad I never ended up being that kid whom was sucker punched. So many times that could have happened. Close calls.

Again, haven't watched the video. Not necessarily defending York. But I'm OK with an indefinite suspension until we get some clarity and perspective.
August 12th, 2014 at 3:22 PM ^
You will probably change your mind when you see the video. It's as bad as everyone says it is.

I'll watch it later and you all are probably right. But I'll see for myself, and even then I'll wait until the courts and eyewitnesses complete the story.

There is absolutely no grey area in this case. It's all there plain as day on video. The only place "innocent until proven guilty" applies is for state administired punishment. People throw that statement around like it somehow exonerates obvious criminals from their actions until a judge rubber stamps it. The team can and should act now.

Could not disagree more. He could have killed this kid, or permanently disabled him. This was no "mistake" this was deliberate, cold-blooded and evil. He needs to be gone.

He may be younger than most of us, but 20 is definitely old enough to know sucker punching someone is a serious offense.
August 12th, 2014 at 3:28 PM ^
Did anyone else notice how the guy, that was talking to the man who was hit, moved out of the way really quick as if he knew what was going to happen?
August 12th, 2014 at 3:45 PM ^
That's Da'Mario Jones, there's some discussion upthread, and he should be suspended from the team and charged as an accomplish, IMO.

He needs to go. Now. No need to wait for the case to be decided. That video is damning. He could've very easily killed him.
August 12th, 2014 at 3:51 PM ^
If this idiot isn't gone, Brady can kiss his "family values" line to the curb. It's one thing to make a mistake, it's another to attempt to inflict a devastating injury on someone who isn't even looking.

It's not like this was a pushing match and then a punch was thrown. He threw a punch out of nowhere. You can't blame Jones for any of this.
August 12th, 2014 at 4:32 PM ^
I am not blaming Jones, but he clearly knew the punch was coming.
August 12th, 2014 at 5:22 PM ^

I was trying to figure out which character York was in the video and was completely blown away by the figure that inevitably threw the punch. If I couldn't have seen it coming, there's no way the victim of the sucker punch could have, either. Just gross.

Saying he could have killed the guy is not a reach. It was one punch that killed the soccer ref in Livonia earlier this summer.

Sadeto in the post below pretty much elaborated on my argument. You're right that almost anything can be deadly, but if you can't see the difference between drinking too much water and intentionally inflicting serious harm, I don't know what else to say.
August 12th, 2014 at 4:38 PM ^
False analogies here. People who speed or drive while intoxicated very rarely intend to kill other people. Disregard for human life? Yes, but intent to harm, rarely.
And there is a huge difference between aggravated assault on a victim who is aware of the confrontation and one who isn't even looking at you. Someone not expecting a punch to the side of his head from an athlete of York's strength is far more likely to be seriously injured and possibly die. It happens, not infrequently. If York had confronted that man face to face chances are we wouldn't even know about the incident. But that's clearly not what York wanted, York didn't want this man to defend himself or fight back.
He could have killed him, it's actually much more absurd for you to deny that. I won't do your homework for you, you can easily find multiple recent cases of people serving hard time because the helpless person they punched hit his head on pavement and died. I can point you to 3 within my city in the past 6 months. Granted, it's a pretty damn big city, but that's beside the point.
Fuck it, I'll do your homework for you; tell these familes how absurd it is to say York could have killed him:
