Very OT- Looking for a TV series to start watching, need some "mgoadvice"
I think it's safe to say we all share a love for Michigan Football, and Michigan in general around here. But I noticed a lot of "TV talk" as well. With Game Of Thrones ending for a while now, just thought I'd ask the board for some help finding a new show to watch to hold me over for the next couple months while we wait for football season to kick in.
Maybe a Top 3 from everybody?

All good suggestions for true crime. All run about 10-12 hours total. To summarize ideas:
OJ Made in America - gives historical context to OJ trial, interviews a lot of key players in the trial and case. Very well done.
Making a Murderer - documentary on Stephen Avery wrongful conviction and subsequent additional murder charge. Well done, but in my opinion a little tainted in motivation. Probably the most "visible" of the three.
The Jinx - historical and current look at allegations that Robert Durst murdered his wife, among others. Well done, got overshadowed not long after by Making a Murderer.
If I had to rank them in my order of enjoyment/preferene:
1) OJ, 2) Jinx, 3) Making a Murderer.
Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch is awesome. Low volume of episodes, but they are extremely well done.

My wife and I started 'house of cards' when GOT finished.
If you have HBO go watch ROME. Two bad ass seasons

The Americans. Just finished the 2nd season. It's a great show!
1.) House of Cards: Hands down the best show I've ever watched, it's a must-see.
2.) Orange is the New Black: It's an entertaining show, plus a lot of nude scenes like GoT.
3.) The Office/HIMYM: If you don't care if it's an older show, these two are classics.
You need cable/Netflix for my list
Netflix show
Intelligence (The "Wire" Canadian style) on DVD
Starz show
Power
HBO comedies
Ballers (football)
Survivors Remorse (basketball)
Showtime
Homeland
I also watch the aforementioned OITNB, Ray Donavan, GOT, Bloodline, Narcos
How do you all rank Spartacus among some of the shows that are commonly mentioned by most of you here? That was the only series I made the committment to watch a few years ago. I loved it, especially with Andy Whitfield playing Spartacus before he died.
I have 3 small kiddos and just don't have the time to commit to any of the new series that are out there right now. Just wanted to know how they stack up against Spartacus.

Here's a list of 3 shows I am either into right now or haven't seen talked about much...
1) Daredevil on Netflix - Talked about a little, but it's fantastic. In the middle of season 2 right now.
2) Luther - One of the best crime dramas I've ever seen. Has a little bit of 24 in it in that Luther (the main character) straddles the fence quite often with how he handles his police work. MUCH darker than 24, however, and a lot more in your face. Very dark British crime series. Only a few episodes a season ala Sherlock.
3) Longmire - I have not seen this one discussed AT ALL, which to me is a shame. The wife and I are currently in the middle of season 4, and each season gets better and better. Starts off in season 1 almost like a Western CSI set in today's time where each episode is just a "case of the day" type show. Similar to other shows like this, character development grows throughout that first season and a sort of "theme" develops, but you can almost watch the episodes in random order. Starting in season 2, however, you see that there's more of an actual storyline that plays out throughout the season, and it carries forward all through the series. There tends to be a "case of the day" pretty much every episode, but most of the time they intertwine with the main theme of the show. I believe Netflix took over in season 4 (maybe 3), and you can start seeing the change towards a more dark and intense drama.
All that being said, even though I make season 1 sound boring compare to the rest, it's really not. The characters are fantastic, and there's a lot of unknown/mystery to Longmire's character in particular that isn't revealed until really season 2. It all meshes well together even though you can see the changes throughout the series. It's a fantastic series, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys crime/mystery dramas. I find that season 1 is definitely the weakest, but seasons 3 and 4 are incredible in my opinion.

The Sopranos (most well written show ever in my opinion)
Sons of Anarchy - puts steel in your spine as Harbaugh would say
Not enough Battlestar Galactica mentions. Watch Battlestar Galactica. The reboot. Start with the miniseries. Game of Thrones is the only thing that came close and possibly surpassed BSG for me.

Better Call Saul,
and if it's with the wife Call the Midwives or Jane the Virgin.
BB is far and above the best series I've ever seen. I haven't seen Game of Thrones, though.
Daredevil - especially season two. Jon Bernthal plays a great Punisher.
Penny Dreadful - if you have Showtime, revolves around novels by Shelley and the like. Eva Green has lots of sex so bonus.
Mr. Robot - only a few episodes in so far, but gives off a very Fight Club vibe to me at least.
Bob's Burgers - I've watched all the seasons multiple times and I can't stop.
I will be checking out The Americans soon as well.
Brady bunch
Andy Griffith
Give Life a try. Only 2 seasons but it actually wraps up pretty well.
I didn't know when I was watching that he was English. He does a terrific job in the series.
Good cast,.plot twists, overall good writing, acting.
