Gotcha. Makes sense, it seemes like most people thought Wisconsin was the landing spot until today. It would be great to not only land a player of Simpson's caliber for ourselves, but also to take him from someone else in the conference.

He will be preemptively accepting his offer that he will receive this weekend when he visits Michigan. Just like Coach Beilein was planning all along.... or another day in the wacky world of BBall recruiting.

So he could have received an offer over the weekend and silently committed; Michigan then pulls their offer to Winston, which would explain Winston saying "Umich no longer an option."

Good. I like that Coach B is being proactive and going after those who want to commit instead of waiting around forever. Top 100 guy, seems like a great passer and ball handler... Seems a bit short, but I guess that's similar to Walton and he seems to be doing ok.

From this morning on the Winston thread he was not a big fan. I like Ypsi's updates and he is a bball junkie but not sure why he is the go to scout on the board.
Eh, not a huge fan of Aiken or Simpson. I think TeJon Lucas is better than both those guys and Winston. I've never been a huge Winston fan since his jump shot is a bit whack in terms of form and he's a step slower than most top tier PGs. I'd probably order them: 1. Lucas 2. Winston 3. Simpson 4. Aiken

he's not. But he was one of the first I saw saying Winston was overrated and that he liked Lucas better, both of which I agreed with at the time. So I wanted to see what he thought of Simpson.

He must've loooooved Michigan when he was here. Still amazing that we apparently slow played him and then on the day he was due to announce between 4 other schools, we show up again and he commits same day.

If this works out, I'm just glad Coach B seems to be evolving - i.e., he is being aggressive and pushing for commits instead of being played. Can't wait and hope forever. Got to keep moving.

247 just got flooded with Michigan predictions, including Jerry Meyer, who is the #1 ranked predictor on 247 and JUST put in a Wisconsin prediction today.

Came to say the same thing, that many crystal balls going in for Michigan. Would be weird for that to happen on a guy who hasn't "visited" as opposed to the Jaylen Brown situation. This seems very very good.

Evan Flood, who made a post saying the latest intel had Simpson going to Wisconsin hours ago, made a crystal ball pick to Michigan just recently as well. I'd say we can maybe get a little optimistic here.

So he's rated only slightly lower than Winston, which means good.
Unless he picks Wisconsin, which mean double bad.

He's more than "slightly" lower than Winston. That said, who cares about rankings? Trey Burke, Nik Stauskas, Aubrey Dawkins, MAAR, and Spike sure don't.

And they were both top 100 prospects. I'm not sure where they are ranked on other sites, but the rankings difference is probably insignificant at this point. I mean Winston's been out with a broken jaw, so who knows if Winston should be ranked where he is?

Uh, not really. He's 66th in the 247 composite. 57th overall on Scout. That's not that far behind Winston.
