U-M Hockey vs MSU - Saturday Open Thread

Unexpected blowout road win & beaucoup PIM last night. Sparty got spanked on home ice, and their inner goon came out. They're going to bring more energy tonight, so we need to match that while staying disciplined. Make them pay like last night: 3 PPG for, 0 against, 1 SHG for.

This officiating is a joke... as is the quality of the Michigan Radio commentary.  Branstadder would have been a more informative game call.

Ugh, 7-5 them. Extremely disappointing after last night. After a promising start to the 2nd period, two turnovers led to two Sparty goals, which turned into 6 unanswered goals. An epic collapse. /allthefacepalms

An opportunity to get an enormous sweep to start the 2nd half…and instead they gack up a 4-1 lead at home in half a period. Reminds me of some of the late Red teams. Brutal

UM is 15 in the PWR after yesterday, after moving up to 11/12 on Saturday. However, this year the CCHA autobid is not in the top-16 so that means the top-14 go in.

The teams UM has played so far:  Wisconsin - 4, MSU - 7, Prov - 9, Minn - 11, Mass- 13, SCSU-14.

Am I off-base to have severe doubts about Naurato? I thought the team underperformed relative to talent on the ice last year, but hoped maybe it was all the disruption early in the year and first-year head coach stuff. This year, they’re clearly radically underperforming the talent level, and it seems to my (radically) untrained eye to implicate the coaching stuff: D zone discipline, and discipline & execution in general. Mental errors all over the place. And obviously the late collapses that come with that. Am I wrong to suspect Naurato is big part of what’s missing/not right with the team last 1.5 seasons?
