I'd rather have a team full of 3 stars with insane work ethic than a team full of lazy 4 stars.  The sky isn't falling yet, and even if we strike out on Petit Frere, Reese, and Friday, I still like our team.  This recruiting class is much better than the patch together job Harbaugh had to put together in Hoke's wake.  Its nice to have top 100 ranked players, but I'd rather see us with top 100 workers.

why is this a surprise... best we have done under harbaugh is 3rd place in our division and losses to key rivals. sorry but its a fact. also it sure is nice that our leader got a raise

The way I like to look at it, our recruiting class includes a projected first round QB pick who was a 5-star and is already proven in college. With Shea, this class is immediately decent

It's not that the staff can't identify talent, recruit talent, but can't close talent on coming to Michigan.  Maybe the recruiting and coaching team needs a sales training class.  Hoping that Harbaugh isn't turning into Pete Bell!!

new coaches bring excitement. Don't produce and that new coach smell wears off. and I wouldn't count on that 2019 class yet. if we don't produce next year, let's see how many of those early commits stick.

The Gary-Bush 2016 looks good.  2017 shows potential but at least a year away from saying good on the field v recruiting rankings.  2019 is a LONG way off.  However, until the game breakers show up on O at QB, OL and WR, we don't know?  If McCaffrey comes in at QB and is close to Fromm, then 2017 is a huge success.  Same with OL.

For me the most frustrating part of watching Monday was seeing all the guys on both sides that Michigan was in the mix for.  Hand and the 2 RB's for Bama.  Several guys on GA.  These were the players that were going to come to play for Harbaugh and move to the NFL.

Gotta win in the trenches and we are failing on both sides with this class. There are some glaring holes that we are going to have to rely on 2019 freshmen to compete right out of the gate.

For one. We also have no idea what our offensive line will look like in two years. Not like we’ve knocked it out of the park on either side of the line. You don’t go a recruiting cycle with no defensive tackles and that’s where we are at right now.

They have to close on Reese. Friday was probably the best player that we were in on for this class though. Edit - Sam Webb just put in a ball for Friday to OSU. Fu*k

Fact is Harbs and the boys in blue are going to have to nut up and win games in 2018. Recruits are not just going to come to UM anymore bc Harbaugh is the coach and is building something - it’ll be Year 4 and 8-5 isn’t going to bring in top tier recruits. Need to win games despite the tough schedule ahead of us.

I will be out of my mind happy if Michigan is able to close and sign with even one of the top three targets they have been after the last year who are still uncommitted: Friday, Petit-frere, or Chase. As was said Reese and Patterson are questionable also.

If we went after some 3* types initially instead of going for the unrealistic players. A high 3* would be better than one we settle for at the end, right?

to continue the tired comment about OSU paying players.

THey continue to beat us and almost everyone else on the field.

while other B1G teams have risen towards the top a couople of times in the big 10 in the last 20 years, OSU is a near constant.

Michiagn has not.

facts are facts.

AND IF OUR BIGGEST WIN IS IOWA'S WIN OVER OSU, then we are clearly playing the wrong game.

Something significant happened with his recruitment this morning, obviously. That's one of the fastest turnaround for a cb profile that I've ever seen

247 has an article saying Friday is making his announcement this week, and has made a "video" for the announcement.  My guess is the video details were leaked by someone who gave a tip to the recruiting reporters.

With all of Michigan's highly rated targets expected to be heading elsewhere, does it now look like other than possible preferred walk-ons and graduate transfers and maybe keeping room for an Australian punter, three-stars WR Ronnie Bell and QB Kevin Doyle will be the only additions to the 2018 recruiting class?

We can only dream of sustained success in the league and sniff around the CFPs.  Harbaugh is a very good coach.  If you think you and I want UM to win big, imagine what he feels given the pressure and his competitive nature.  He will continue to put together a good staff.  He will burn the midnight oil.  I assume he will tweek the offense if needed.  But without high-end players, we are just wishing and hoping.  A bunch of 3 stars that rate at below 600 nationally probably, just probably, won't get us where we want to be.  Maybe this is just a one year blip on the recruiting screen.
