Thanks and a Few ?'s From a Future UM Student

Submitted by CleMaize on
So I am now able to post a forum topic because I have reached my 20 points. How I got those 20 I'm not exactly sure because I have not reached anywhere close to 20 posts. I would just like to thank everyone that has anything to do with this site. When I sent in my application to UM I began to follow the football team but did not want to get to emotionally attached in case I did not get in. During the season I was looking at some sights and message boards and unfortunately did not find this gem of a site until about a week ago. This is far and away the best site I have found and is the most impressive sports blog I have ever seen. I would like to thank all that make this site possible, this is my new place for all UM information. I am normally not a big poster but I needed to make this post because this place is awesome! One thing that I can not stand is people who claim to be "fans" but know nothing about the team besides the star player. Upon my acceptance I have been on a quest to gather my information to be a "real" fan. If anybody has any books or other places to look so I can futher understand the history, tradition, and what it really means to be a Wolverine I would love it if you let me know. I will admit that I have made a few mistakes in my past, I grew up in Ohio and was a half hearted Buckeye fan who more just loved the passion and traditions of college football as opposed to a specific team, so yes I did root for OSU in the '02 Natl Championship game (now I can clearly see that no pass interference should have been called). I no longer have any ties to that other school and can not stand their fans from living around so many and reading there message boards. I have a few pretty basic questions that I know you guys can answer for me. 1. Explain the whole snake oil thing, I know it relates to RR but I dont quite get it. 2. I recently rewatched the UM ND game this year and was wondering about our defense. Do we run a base 3-4 but throw in some 4-3 looks because I saw both but I was a little distracted because my eyes kept getting distracted by Brandon Graham. 3. Is every offense set a 3 WR set because I kept seeing that even in running situations. 4. Are there plans to schedule some big OOC games in the futre (UConn is a step but it's not there yet) I know we play ND every year but is there a chance for some others. Also will I see a night game in AA anytime soon, I know there are no lights and they have to be brought in but is there a chance, and a 3:30 start in Nov. when it's dark at the half doesnt count as a night game IMO. Thanks for all the answers and reading all my rambling.

I was in the RC originally, but had to transfer out for course scheduling reasons. I liked it, but I would only advise it to someone who is committed to mastering a foreign language - you'll take a much heavier courseload in Spanish/French/German than you would in regular LS&A.

A few recommendations for you to read: 1)The Big House: Fielding H. Yost and the Building of Michigan Stadium by Robert M. Soderstrom Great book, incredibly detailed. 2)Tradition: Bo Schembechler's Michigan memories by Bo Schembechler, Dan Ewald 3)30 Years of Bo: Scrapbook Memories of a Michigan Football Icon Congratualtions, and I hope you enjoy Michigan as much as I did.

And welcome. I loved my 7 years as an undergrad, and I'm sure you will as well. As for the base defense, it really doesn't fit into any of the traditional categories. The reasons is that the 2nd Defensive End, also known as the "Quick", the "Deathbacker," or the "SuperPainBacker" (okay, I made that one up) is a sort of hybrid between a linebacker and a DE. See also: http://mgoblog.com/category/tags/deathbacker Roh and Herron split the duties this year. They're both large guys who move well, which gives the coaches flexibility to send them after the passer, drop them into zone coverage, or do pretty much whatever else they can think of.

I have my acceptance letter to UofM framed. It was a great experience and get to the games in time to see the band. I hate seeing a half empty student section when the greatest marching band in the country is coming out of the tunnel.

The higher-ups should be able to track his IP address so once he's banned he's done for good. No more making new usernames everyweek. He would still be allowed to read the blog but he just wouldn't be able to login. I hope for everyones sake and sanity this happens very soon.

to books about Michigan football: http://bentley.umich.edu/athdept/misc/fbbooks.htm BTW, the Bentley site is a treasure trove of information. One other thought: if you happen to be near an M Den store, they were selling, at least a few months ago, a compilation of New York Times articles about Michigan football games. I got it as a Christmas gift and reading the stories written right after the games was neat.

I didn't notice it at first, but with the constant replies to every post, it is obvious. It's a shame he doesn't learn to just reply one or two times. We probably wouldn't notice if he changed his ways at all. The OP at least seemed normal untill you realize who it is and what he is doing.

I'm beginning to wonder if em0 and the links there are the same as KofB/BarkingShpincter/Simi/NOLA/etc.... Note the use of "prolly" in one of the responses? I have my suspicions and CleMaize is one John Staller Date of Birth: May 13, 1963 Age: 46 Biography: I was in prison for a decade Location: dex and the WLA are my bitchez Interests: Camel Filters and Potato Chips Occupation: Making the intranets my bitch http://www.wtfdetroit.com/forums/showpost.php?p=330787&postcount=25 http://mgoblog.com/diaries/what-exactly-rich-rodriguez-building http://mgoblog.com/diaries/calling-out-defenders-rodriguez

Unless KOB has some serious multiple personalities going on I see no resemblance between the two. One is seems old, wizened, snarky and negative, the other is annoying, young, naive and writes 40,000xs worse. They would make amusing foils, but unless there is some serious mental wackery I'm pretty sure they are different

Congrats on the acceptance. I am in a slightly different boat, as I have applied and was recently deferred for further notice on my acceptance. I am still hopeful that I will make it in, as my dad is an alum, as is my uncle, and my brother is currently attending this fine University. I'm most likely going to GVSU, and will then have to transfer whenever possible. I'd love to be able to get student tickets instead of just freeloading off of my dad's seats.
