Stats Vacated from WMU

Submitted by Michigan Arrogance on

[Ed-M: I confirmed this with Ablauf (see Dear Diary). Here's what he said:

We (Michigan) and the Big Ten will count the stats toward our team records. The NCAA will not because of a rule that states that you must complete three quarters of play for the statistics to count for NCAA purposes.

NCAA will count it as a win, but the stats won't count.]

ESPN reporting that the NCAA ruled the stats for the WMU game are to be vacated due to the shortened game. Not sure about the W, L. Attendance remains in the books.

If they are going to vacate the stats, I would think that they also vacate the win, no? Even if we get to keep the win, we lose the 3 to 0 TO margin (which I really loved) and that makes our defensive numbers even crappier because they are now based solely on the ND game.

Absolutely absurd. "Because the third quarter was not completed"? So...basically, both teams could only possibly add yards, and yet the yards they already put up don't count?

Somebody needs to have a stern talking-to. Bad NCAA! Bad!

If this is true, it is a monumental waste of the NCAA's time, and an insult to the kids on both teams.  For people who supposedly represent institutions of higher education, they certainly make some incredibly stupid decisions.  The move makes no sense, and could affect career records on both teams down the road.

They should spend more time uncovering the truth in Columbus and less time being stupid.

While I don't like all of the schools jumping conferences and the potential of 4 mega conferences.  The possiblility of the NCAA being discarded would definitely be a silver lining.

The main thing is Michigan won the game, and that W stays in the win column. This team is going to get better each week, and I can see Michigan making a lot of noise in the Big 10 this year.
