rumor - Threet to transfer

Submitted by emmekel on
here is the link http://www.collegefantasyfootballinsider.com/stats/player-news.aspx?new… MOD'S NOTE This rumor's genesis is a random post on MLive which their Mods have since deleted. It has been bounced around the internet message board vacuum chamber for 2 days. We make no claim as to it's "voracity", but we know that the absurdly negligent Mods of MLive felt it didn't deserve to see the light of day. The post stands, as we tire of deleting them, and someone else will post it.

1) Someone starts a rumor on mlive 2) People furiously post about the rumor on other message boards 3) Rumor even makes it to some radio show this morning 4) Voila! Rumor is now "widely circulated" Did anybody even read the original mlive rumor post? So shady.

People say few weeks ago Threet is looking forward to this yr bla bla. (so I hear). But, when are we going to learn? Beaver, ring a bell? Mcneal? "I can't wait for Michigan, etc". It may be true.

He's looking forward to spring practice where another tough test awaits - the beginning of a position battle against incoming freshman and highly touted recruit, Tate Forcier. "I think most quarterbacks would see themselves that way," Threet said. "You want to go out and compete and do your best, and the coaches will pick who they think will most help the team to win. http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090119/SPORTS17/901…

I don't think he can transfer within D-1. He'd had have to go to FCS (1-AA) or D-2, he'd lose a year of eligibility but be able to play immediately. but I read on another forum that his destination is allegedly North Dakota State, which doesn't make any sense from a long term academic standpoint. so I don't believe it just yet.

Threet is taking a psych class and doing an experiment about how rumors take off. So far, his experiment is working like a charm.

I think we know for certain based on recent history that some like to start rumors just to stir the pot and mess up media. Was it here that I read about the awesome soccer hoax - the story about the touted young talent from some obscure "istan" and then the story was picked up by major news sources.

And that remains a colossal "if," it would theoretically mean that Tate has been so impressive that Threet sees that he has no chance to play this year. And I have a hard time believing that a true freshman QB can be good enough just weeks after arriving on campus to make anybody that certain that he will start in the fall. Even with the QB play we witnessed last year, that seems awfully far-fetched to me.

Remember, there was already the well-circulated story about Tate hitting a receiver in the head (helmet?) on a pattern where the receiver was not expecting the ball. Depending on who you ask, either Tate's timing was so good the receiver was not prepared, or Tate's timing was way off. TomVH (I think) has also reported that Tate is always asking players to stay behind afterwards/get there early to work on patterns.

Threet, who came here knowing he would be behind, at the very least, Mallett, is so scared by what is happening in 7 on 7s that he is looking to transfer, again. I would think that if he was tough enough to play hurt through the Big Ten schedule, he'd be tough enough to ride that out. I'm sorry, it just doesn't make sense.

I know this board disapproves of "I know a guy who knows a guy who knows..." chains, but everybody can pretty much rest assured that Threet has no idea where these transfer rumors came from.

I heard from a (probably not at all) well connected guy in C-bus that Pryor was so scared that Rob Schoenhoft was going to take his starting spot because of better passing ability that he demanded that Tressel compel him to transfer. This is totally premium info, so I can't reveal my (non)source.

has been able to confirm or deny these rumors, which can only mean that nobody really knows. Sam Webb made a good point this morning that there are three weeks until spring practices start and that we will be likely to know one way or another what is going to happen before then.

according to scout this is close to done and he met with rr about it. this is critical. there's no reason to think this year's freshmen will be any better than last year's.
