Rose Bowl tix question/advice (stubhub)

Submitted by a2bluefan on December 29th, 2023 at 5:00 PM

Hi all -

I bought a pair of Rose Bowl tix on Stubhub the day it was announced we were headed there.

I have yet to receive the tix. They are mobile transfer. The site says my order is confirmed, and basically don't contact them unless the tickets don't arrive by the "ready date." Well, in my order it says the ready date is January 1.  I'm supposedly guaranteed to have them by then. I'm going to the parade as well, and the last thing I need is to have to worry about tracking down game tix.

Are any of you in this same position? Should I be looking for a backup plan? Or am I worried for no reason? I fly out to LA tomorrow and am a bit antsy about this situation.

Thanks.

What you’ve described sounds like their customary way of doing things.

I have bought numerous tickets on SH and largely never had a problem.  One time we traveled internationally for a game (my daughter was interested in Michigan and eventually became an alum) and the trip would have been a jacked-up mess had the tickets not worked out.

My one complaint concerns tickets I ordered for the Nebraska game this year.  The seller backed out of the transaction the afternoon before the game and Stubhub sent me an email that said “don’t worry; we’ll make it right.”  They didn’t.

My advice is the very second they say your tickets are ready for transfer, jump on it.  I think my situation this year was a bit of a black swan, but fortune favors the prepared.

I would call them. While I bought via SeatGeek this time around, mine were mobile transfer and I received the tickets on 12/4. I get that they say wait until the “ready day” but, I mean, what are they going to do, be annoyed? Not as a panic, but rather that’s a thing I would really want to know today and not three days from now (more time to fix it, if there IS a problem).

You are good.  Probably from a broker.  They don't want to send them out early and give you the option to resell.  They want as few potential tickets on the market as possible as I'm sure they have dozens of others for sale.

I had this exact experience with Stubhub last year when I flew out for the MSU game.  I had purchased a ticket a few days in advance, the order was confirmed and the ticket was "guaranteed", but I hadn't "received" it yet.  I was walking around campus taking in the sights on the Saturday afternoon of the game and starting to get nervous about the situation.  Just as I was about to try and figure out who to call, I received a notification from Stubhub that the ticket I had purchased had indeed fallen through and was no longer available, but not to worry because my order was "confirmed and guaranteed", and they would reach out again shortly with options.  Shortly thereafter I indeed received another notification that other seat options were available to me at no additional cost, and I actually ended up with a better seat.  So it worked out, but definitely a nerve-wracking situation.

This sounds horrible. I really hope it works out for you. I know I would be freaking out and contacting them demanding the tickets or a refund. I know that isn’t helpful to you. Good luck and have a great time.

If you haven't received them by now get on the horn with Stubhub right away and demand they be forwarded at once, given the cell phone service issues around the Rose Bowl and because you're not sure how much Stubhub staff will be around to answer phones on New Years Eve and New Years Day.  It's not OK for a seller to hold on to tickets that long.  Maybe they forgot and they need StubHub to remind them.  OR maybe the person sold them to someone else, in that case you need StubHub to get you some alternative tickets.  Make the StubHub people earn their keep!  For those excessive fees they charge buyers and sellers.

I wouldn't be terribly worried but probably worth giving customer service a ring. They will be transferred from Ticketmaster. When I purchased earlier this month, I was told they don't "generate" the mobile tickets until a few days before the event. I just received mine a few days ago (purchased on SeatGeek).

SeatGeek email on 12/4 - date of purchase:

Your ticket won’t show up directly in your SeatGeek account. This is a policy set by Rose Bowl. Your ticket may not arrive until closer to your event date so don’t worry, we will notify you when it is available.

SeatGeek email from 12/26 (when tickets were transferred):

Tickets to your event are managed by a third-party app used by Rose Bowl. Because of this policy you won’t be able to access your tickets directly in your SeatGeek account. You will need to visit the provided link and sign in or register for an account, then accept the ticket transfer.

You should accept your ticket transfer as soon as possible, within 48 hours of receiving the transfer notification at the latest.

Ok I got the same email on date of purchase  - then you got a notification email from SeatGeek that the tickets were available/had been transferred and the tickets were either linked to or you received a separate email from whoever the servicer for those tickets were to download them?

Ok, I'm going through the same with SeatGeek - I have the confirmation but have not yet received the actual tickets yet, super anxiety provoking to be honest. I know they say that depending on when the even releases the tickets etc, etc, but some more assurance that you'll actually have them in hand so to speak would be greatly appreciated.

Based on my experience this year I'd feel a bit anxious.

I've used StubHub for UM tickets for many many years, but this year for the first time I got the exact same message as you.

I bought tickets in July for the Indiana game.  Guaranteed but didn't arrive and didn't arrive and didn't artive.  I emailed SH the monday of the game week & they said everything was fine.

Come Saturday at 10 am for a noon kickoff, still no tickets.  So I called their help phone # and got a very responsive & helpful guy.  He was able to get in touch with the seller, but then he did something that made no sense to me - he gave them 30 min to still transfer to me (it was now at least 10:30am).  Why not force the seller to transfer them to me immediately on the spot, since he was in contact with them??

Anyway I didn't feel I could wait until 11am to get them so I went on SH, bought four new tickets, & got an email after about 1 min that transferred those to me *right* away.  So we then went to the stadium for the warmups, etc.  As it was, we still missed the band/drum-line show at Riveli (sp?) Hall.  :-(

NEVER got the four originals I had initially purchased in July.  Felt super frustrated.  Complained via email the Monday after the game & was denied a refund for those original four tickets.  Felt even more frustrated.

Waited a week & then called the SH help phone # again, and *finally* that person helped me get it straightened out & I at last got my refund something like two weeks after that.

Anyway, super frustrating experience & I'm not sure I will ever use SH again going forward unless I see tickets are to be transferred right away.

I and my family would have missed that game (after driving 12 hours from a different state) if I hadn't bought four more tickets at the last moment (many were available b/c it was just IU - that might not be an easy option for such a huge & in demand event like the Rose Bowl).  As it was we got to the stadium much later than our usual routine & missed a bunch of activities that we usually always got to see.

For me money is pretty darn important, but in this case a guaranteed refund is no solace at all - I wanted to see the game.
