OT: Stony Brook to Omaha
Stony Brook started their closer in game 3 today; he just pitched a complete game 3-hitter against LSU to get the Seawolves to Omaha. The last team from New York to make it to Omaha was St John's in 1980, back when the regionals were actually regional.
Kent State is also looking to make it to Omaha; they beat Oregon last night and are up 2-0 in the 6th inning right now. Kent State coach Scott Stricklin has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Michigan job.
This may be a new state record...
Not only are they going to the CWS, but they beat perennial power LSU on the way there. Tip o' the cap.
My alma mater mentioned here? Weird. Go Seawolves I guess...
Yes but they are a small northern school that recruits almost exclusively on Long Island which unlike lacrosse isn't known for its baseball prowess...
That's right, UW La Crosse won 34 baseball games this year.
Stony Brook just beat a power in LSU and you probably don't need me to tell you this, but they are damn good. They came to our place for a weekend early in the year. Before the series, I asked our coaches if they were any good and the only response was "yeah, you could say that."
Good for them, congratulations
I thought Miami (FL) was like a top 3 team..and they got smoked 10-2 and 12-2 in their only two games and by Missouri State and Stony Brook of all teams. Seems very weird
You can punch Kent State's ticket to Omaha as well. They just killed Oregon's season.
